I was once steam cleaning some chairs at my school, but the steam cleaner wasn't good enough so we decided to use a wet/dry shop vac instead. As soon as we turned on the vacuum this awful smell of feces, burnt hair and rotting vegetables began to emanate from the vacuum. We opened it up to see what was inside and saw that the janitor had used the vacuum to clean up what looked like a hideous melange of hair, vomit, and garbage, and had left it inside the vacuum in a hot closet over summer vacation. It was terrible.

Try smelling wasabi paste. Good luck with that.
I wouldn't say that's a bad smell, just a bit...pungent. Not pleasant, mind you, but try opening a package of the powdered stuff. Watch your eyes and nose, that's all I gotta say.

Like opening up a can of dried pepper spray and you slightly sneeze on it.

I know how it feels man.

I went to what's called a mangrove swamp one time. It smelled like a thousand silent-but-deadly farts with some corpse and rotten cheese thrown in.

Hmmm... Portapotties are pretty bad. Dead Skunk on a 100°+ day in Georgia are worse... but honestly? The worst thing I have ever smelled is someone who has gone septic, and their flesh is literally rotting while still on their bodies.

It's not 'bad' in an 'everybody immediately projectile-vomits' kind of way, it's 'bad' in a 'this is the scent of absolutely the most despairing, depressing, phenomenally tragic thing you will ever be a party to.'

I still have panic attacks if I smell anything similar.

My farts. Trust me. they can get so bad that your nose would jump off of your face and ***** slap you for subjecting it to such a stench. I've even cleared out an entire 40 person church with a silent one.

Rotting cadavers, as many have said it's indescribable. Nothing can prepare you for the first time you smell it, you could of spent years around an animals corpse it wouldn't make a difference.

My dog's poop. Human poop isn't that bad, but I have a dog that just makes some really bizarrely unpleasant smell. It probably has to do with him being a Shelty and thus having a hairy tail.

As for less obviously gross things, vinegar. I just hate the smell for some reason.

I have another one, which I remembered.

Try smelling rotten tomatoes. No really, try smelling them - get a proper whiff!

I did. Wasn't worth it.

Whatever has been rotting in my basement for the past year is the worst smell in existence. Its impossible to explain using any form of communication. It caused me to stop going down there.

The smell of a rotted otter's head that had been wading in a lake for at least a few days being boiled to remove it's flesh. My ex was big into animal bones as artwork. The things you do for love...

Latrine burn pits. Anyone who has ever been in the military probably knows what this smells like. Instructions to recreate are as follows:

1. Dig a cesspit.
2. Have people poop in said cesspit until it is full. This can take a while.
3. Pour diesel fuel on top of aforementioned cesspit.
4. Light that mother up. Multiple burnings may be required. Also good for burning paper and rotten food stuffs.

You get the delightful mix of diesel fumes, burning food, burning paper, and the stink of human excrement all wrapped into one.

What you smell like coming home from an all day music festival. Most of that stench is other peoples sweat.
