Want an obnoxious ugly twat shouting dated catchphrases at you every 20 seconds?

He's got you covered.

Listen to that voice. JUST LISTEN TO THAT FUCKING VOICE.
That's what you get to hear the whole fucking game.

There is a 92.444444% chance that her name was Navi. There is a 23.151% chance that you have played Skyward Sword, and if that is the case, there is a 41.3029% chance that this statement will send you into a fit of rage.

Additionally, there is an 82.1134 chance that your batteries are running low.

That mole from animal crossing that would yell at you for about 10 minutes when you turned off the game without saving.

He would even make you write an apology.

He can go fuck himself.

Anomen, Baldurs gate 2: Whiny, self-righteous prick. Oh, and the only romantic interest for a female PC.

Tidus, FFX: Urgh.

Vaan: FFXII: THe hell SquareEnix? The hell?

Jack: Mass Effect 2. Shut the hell up you whiny Riddick-wannabee.

Arthas: World of Warcraft. So...Bloody...annoying.

Marche: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I'm starting to see a trend in SE character's...

Oh god, this. I loved DA:O, but Sandal just made me so uncomfortable. I cringed every single time I heard him say that word.

Also, as many others have already said, Miranda in ME2, though I did sort of get used to her towards the end, and for some reason I stopped being bothered by her in ME3...

...Oh wait, I remember why:

KILL IT WITH FIRE. I wanted to eat her face (not in that way :p Though while we're on the subject, who romanced her? Anyone? Why would anyone do that?) Seriously, just get off my damn ship. I would have booted her out the airlock first chance I got, but I was paranoid that it might screw me over somehow in the ending. Ha. Funny how that turned out. *totally not still bitter*

Hmmm, bit of a Bioware theme here I see. Probably because Bioware RPGs are the games where I actually give a crap about the characters (which overall they do very well).

I know, right? It's like one step forward, one step back with these guys. "Hey, you get to play as an action hero of any race, gender, and (more so in the third one) sexuality in this game! Also, one of your squadmates is basically topless and another one has the camera permanently glued to her buttcheeks for some reason."

That would be Navi. And while she is annoying, my vote is a tie between two characters, both from the same franchise.

The first pick is Lance Vance from "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City". Every single fucking issue you run into throughout the entire game is either directly or indirectly his fault. The only worthwhile thing he does in that game is turn traitor so you can kill his ass.

As for the second...I won't even say the name, or anything about the character. Three words will suffice. "Niko, my cousin!" Urgh...

And now it's time for one of those "Ventilation" threads!
I'm sure we've all encountered...that character. They're the character who makes the very game they're in worse simply due to their inclusion. Maybe they're annoying, maybe they're stupid, or maybe you just flat out hate them. Feel free to name these characters and give as long a list you like to describe how much you hate them, or simply express your desire to bash them over the head with a sledgehammer. Remember, there are no wrong answers!
OT: I've got one:

HER...
(Sarah Flores from Alone in the Dark)
She has to quite possibly be one of the worst support characters ever. Every time she shows up, the game instantly gets at least x40 worse. Not only because she's so annoying, but because all of the sections that involve her, saving her, or transporting her are incredibly frustrating. The worst part is that she WON'T DIE. Other annoying support characters usually can be killed, by monsters or by you, even if it results in a Game Over, you still get a small amount of satisfaction from it. But Sarah... you can wail on her with a fire axe forever and nothing will happen. When monsters show up, they only go after you, and she sits in a corner and whines about them. Even when she stops breathing and you have to perform CPR on her, no matter how much you put it off she won't die.
And they say that the ending where you shoot her is the BAD ending!
I know the game doesn't have the best reputation, and I can see why; but I honestly think that if she wasn't in it, people would've liked it a lot better. If you were actually, you know, ALONE in a game called "Alone in the Dark".
the ending was really dumb.

but i was not suprised finding myself dealing with this type of sidekick after experiencing such delightful writing early in the game:
Well, we must remember that this is supposedly the same Edward Carnby who spent most of the first game kicking otherworldly Lovecraftian horrors in the dick.
But, agreed. Some of the lines in this game were really funny. Especially the one from 0:55 to 1:02 in this video.
I managed to make a very amusing photoshop picture based on that line.
For what it was worth, though, I hope they make a sequel. The game had so many wonderful ideas drowned out by awful execution, and I was happy that they decided to continue with the plot of the old Alone in the Dark games, rather than just abandoning everything previously established and copying Resident Evil (coughNewNightmarecough). Now if only they had done it RIGHT.

Charmy Bee from the Sonic series. From a gameplay perspective he adds nothing new and at his best just breaks games and at his worst is a pathetic clone. Personality wise...good lord he is one of the most annoying things ever. He is just the worst.

Not sure how many people here will know him, but Mud from the first Gothic game. Annoying little shit who would follow you around everywhere and not shut up 'til you beat him up... and he is fast as hell, so you can't even catch him :/

Cloud is this emo guy who whines and complains about everything until the very last second of the game.
No he didn't... Did you even play FFVII? I don't recall that at all.

He was pretty much a clone of Zack Fair - who is not a whiny emo. he only time Cloud even had an issue was after a serious mind rape by Jenova/Sephiroth over his own identity... I never could understand why people call Cloud "emo" in FFVII. Advent Children maybe - but not the original game.
Yeah, he was. His friends are there to support him all along and he keeps pushing them away. Compared to other FF character, he is pretty depressing. Tifa's there all along but it's as if she doesn't exist.
I understand why he was "sad". The whole identity crisis and watching a loved one die and he's tormented by all that and I was actually happy when the game ended because I figured he got over it and all was resolved (Although the ending didn't make that clear). But then, as you said it, Advent Children happened.

(EDIT: There's one character from Dark Souls that pissed me off a lot. As soon as you finish the Tutorial portion at the beginning (If it can be called that), you meet this NPC at some cementery/hill/ruins/whatever. I talked to the guy and all and decided to leave. Still not familiar with the game and being the first NPC that I've encountered, I started testing my combat skills. I hit the guy...what, twice? Next thing I know, the guy chases me all over the place and kills me. I come back to life and he's waiting for me. And kills me. That went on and off for about 20 minutes. I tried running away, fighting back, getting more enemies to fight him off (I died faster) and nothing. Finally, he fell off a cliff or something. But god, I hated that guy. I thought it was a dumb idea to have such thing happen so early into the game. I know the game is supposed to be insanely hard and stuff but that kinda ruined my experience. If it wasn't because he fell off a cliff, I could have been stuck there for days. All because of that horrible character.
Yeah, I returned the game shortly after that.)
Short answer - you attacked an innocent NPC and were surprised to find out they could and did mess your shit up. Is that right? You deserved it. At least he wasn't important.
Oh, okay. So I guess it's fine because, you know, I didn't know better. Like slapping a three-legged puppy for peeing in the carpet.

I know the game is supposed to have an insane difficulty curve and all. But considering the fact I was a brand new player to the franchise, I thought that was pretty dumb. I'm not saying "Durr! Guy attacked me for no reason at all! WTF?". I know why he attacked me. You said yourself; I was surprised to find out they could attack me. What pissed me off was the fact that he was relentless about it.
If he would have attacked me once, I would have learned my lesson and being more careful throughout the game. You know, that was a good hands-on experience. At least I know this game is different from what I know (NPCs are immortal). If he would have attacked me twice, I could have probably learned my lesson a bit faster. But I'm talking about respawning and the guy attacking me not even 5 seconds after that. And mind you, being a new player, I was still getting the hang of the controllers, which is why I was testing my combat skills before venturing into who-knows-what. That was just dumb. I wouldn't be surprised if other people were also turned off by that NPC. Is the game good? Probably, but I'll never find out. That's just me.
