Why does he wear a jacket that goes down to just his nipples, suspenders and shorts with one leg longer than the other?
Personally I think Final Fantasy has TERRIBLE character design. I know FF fans may disagree, but cmon, the majority of characters on this thread have been FF or Bioware. Their clothes, their voices.....their whiny attitudes and angst for the sake of angst. The only character that isn't a fashion model is a token black guy for comedic relief.
Remember when FF was about FANTASY and not J-pop and the latest fashion trends? Yea good times.
As for my most hated....I dislike Kratos as well I guess, can't think of anyone too terrible that hasn't been said before. Personally I didn't mind Desmond in Assassin's Creed. Yes, we all liked killing people, but his story wasn't terrible or anything, just a classic "underdog orginization trains Neo to kill bad guys" which is basically the plot of the Matrix now that I think about it. He didn't constantly make stupid jokes or was annoying.....just didn't stab people in the face.
And stabbing people in the face isn't that great. You can't kill more than 3 civilians, and the parkour is much more fun. The combat is alright, but you just counter spam and you can slaughter mass amounts of guards with no problem.
I figured that at least some people like him, that's why the game series lasted for so (too) long. ;3 But anyway, I know that the average Spartan was quite intelligent, as their kind invented Laconic whit, and a lot of them were quite great at being the snarker. To me, I don't see it being very realistic that a demi-god somehow can kill everything. And no offense, but I just don't see him as being that manly, just because he can throw a temper tantrum that can level a city or kills anyone that says he makes bad cupcakes (horrific generalization, I know).
Indeed, in my opinion the series really should have ended with the God of War 3 (but because I like the combat I'll probably still buy the other games too -.-). I was thinking that the Spartans were probably quite smart considering tactics and things. A demigod killing Normal Gods can somewhat be justified by the powers he gained in his journeys I guess. He DID gather quite alot of tools from quite alot of mythological creatures. I think the point was he rose above his Demigod status and dominated Gods and Titans alike. Same thing with actually killing gods, doing something thought impossible.
When it comes to the sex thing, I don't really think it fits the character of a man who was grieving his family (the whole damn reason for the first game) to drop trough for anything with a vag.
Hahah, I remember thinking something similar when I played those games now that I think about it. Though it COULD be said he did it to maybe drown out the memory and forget, but that could be countered with the idea of making him feel even more guilt. Different things work in different ways for some people I guess.
I feel the opposite toward the planet thing, because it just shows that he's dumb enough to fuck up everything just to get petty revenge. He won't be able to live anywhere if everything is destroyed.
I guess I just understand his depression more, because when someone (namely me) becomes deeply depressed, you either want to destroy everything, or just have it disappear into nothing along with yourself. Though of course depression is experienced differently within every individual so that can't be said for everyone.
Probably what I actually admire about Kratos (and think is manly) is he says or thinks he will do something and he will DO IT. Kratos wants Mt. Olympus and all of it's Gods destroyed? HE WILL DO IT, and he will DO IT GOOD...or maybe do it bad, BUT DO IT NEVERTHELESS. Blinded by hatred and rage as he is.
Ah, alright, fair enough. I can see why it's pretty cool that he had one thing in mind and accomplished it, even though the thought of what would happen otherwise didn't even cross his mind during his actions. And I can also see people wanting to take out their depression on something else, although it just looks like the only emotion he can feel is rage. Thank you for letting me see a coherant and rather interesting opposite point of view to mine. I'll have to think a little bit more about it, and I'll see if any of my opinions change in this newest one.
umm tingle, you know the creep pedophile in the Zelda games that when hes not weirding you out he extorting you for hundreds of rubies. No one else even comes close.

Never have I wanted to shove so much hate down someone's throat.
Another vote for Kratos, either make an over the top badass who's a total dick to everything till it gets hilarious or make him angsty. The combination just pisses me off. Constantly being a dick to everything that moves and at the same wondering why the gods don't like him or why life is so hard.I loved that he was in mortal kombat though. Ripping his stomach out felt so fucking good.
Yukari in persona 3 her moves sucked, her personality sucked and all she did was nag.
I'm not usually one for bandwagons but seeing as we're all bashing final fantasy
If gameplay was character it would be the one that ruined FF XIII for me.
I also think Shepard in the first mass effect isn't the worst but a real flawed character. Being a pristine angelic law abider. The first time I tried being a tad more evil, you know in a anti-hero way his basic response was punching a mentally challenged person. Now even though that was hilarious and I finished the game trying to see how many things I could punch in the face, that's a seriously horrible morality choice system there. Shouldn't there be a step between friendly and disabled people puncher?
Gears of war. they all look like big cursing trolls and act like angsty cursing trolls. I can digg macho characters but not if they act like that and take themselves seriously.
Worst in all aspects: Michael Thornton (Alpha Protocol)
Intentionally worst: Rico Rodriguez (Just Cause 2)
Subjectively worst: Marcus Fenix/Kratos/Nathan Drake/Lightning/ClapTrap/Bruci Kibutz/Cole/Ashley/etc...
Whaaaaaaat? but he's captain bosch! Honestly though, I never had any problems with vaan. He's a punk kid who looks and sounds like a punk kid. Now, he may be terrible in the sequels, but after FFX-2, FFVII: The Shittening, and Kingdom Hearts, I've learned to not ever play the sequels of a squenix game if i loved it. FFX-2 was a better game than the original, and only ruined the "series". And as much as I liked FFX, its easily beaten by VII and XII. Kingdom Hearts and FFVII, on the other hand, were magnificent in almost all important regards, and I love the fuck out of those games. Which sucks for me, since Squenix wants to shit all over them. Only credit I'll give is that KH: When Spock Attacks wasn't that bad, and FFVIIoC was actually pretty good it you completely ignored EVERYTHING happening in the cutscenes (He's dead?!). But Crisis Core and Fraction Adventures were shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Especially Fraction Adventures, since Crisis Core only ruined the story content and the combat almost worked. I'm way off topic. Vaan worked as a character for me, because while he could sometimes be annoying, he had a good REASON to be, his story parts are justified and believable, and he's Captain Bosch Fon Rosenburg of Dalmasca!

All of the partners you get in L.A Noire with the exception of the fat guy who I think was homocide.

Nero from DMC4.He is essentially a copy of Dante with twice the crying.Backed up by crappy writing and a love interest that would give Princess Peach a run for her money, he definitely gets on my nerves.
Nero was a *****. DMC4 was just DMC2 with better graphics and awesome dante. Fuck Nero.

Obviously, Raiden.
It would all be fine and dandy if my only reasons to complain about him were contained in MGS2. But the fact is that a decade has passed and Kojima is still trying to shove that character down our throats.
No, Mr. Kojima. Making him a badass doesn't work like that.
Raiden was a badass. They just made him more badass. The problem is, and has always been, the DIALOGUE. MGS is actually a really good story, for the most part, but the weird, weird words spewing out of mouth-holes is what trips it up. Oh, and nanomachines. But think about it, Raiden didn't do anything annoying on his own, it's all put on him by other people. Emma is a chore to drag around (made bearable by the horrible things you can do to her and Otacon in that section). Rose won't stfu and you are forced to deal with her. Otherwise, the only problem with him is that he has soft dialogue and a sexy effeminate voice (quinton flynn makes the pretty men prettier). plus, he's not afraid to cut a *****, which is more than you can say for snake. yeah, yeah, you can use a knife in 4, but snake really ought to have tried it before that.

Kratos he is just a blood thirsty maniac who wants to destroy the world because (post first game mind you)
Finally! someone else who thinks this! it made it really hard to feel bad for kratos, because Zeus was RIGHT TO KICK HIS ASS. So the other gods wouldn't hang out with you, DEAL WITH IT. You apparently get to bang athena (and Aphrodite, the slut) all you like, and your countrymen literally worship you. Another game than can't handle continuity. Kratos learned he was Zeus' son what, 3, maybe four times?

Brucie in GTA IV I don,t get it why people hate Roman more then Brucie he was really annoying mostly his accent and behavior he felt like a frat boy and is generally obnoxious.
Brucie at least has the excuse that he's a heavily closeted homosexual and the resultant mental issues stemming from that. Roman's just kind of an easygoing dick. I still agree with you, and I always let Kate die at the end.

Well, let's see... there's Riku from Final Fantasy the Tenth and Tidus for that matter...
What's wrong with rikku? she's just a scared naive kid, you know? Tidus whines a lot, and it isn't JAT's best work, but I never had a problem with him as a character. You get completely uprooted from your planet and find the only common link is a popular sport, lets see how you handle it. back on Rikku, she COULD be irritating, but not nearly as much as yuna. But then, apparently tara strong is just a better VA than hedy buress. every line yuna has is simpering and craven, even her BIG DRAMATIC SPEECHES. But worse than her is WAKKA. He is 1. unimportant to the story, 2. Loud and obnoxious (like rikku and tidus can be) at all times, 3. has no real development except getting laid and being a slightly less horrible racist bastard (like happy festival fireworks), 4. looks ridiculous (but then, so does everyone else), 5. fights will a ball. A physics-defying ball, sure, but still a ball. He could be beaten by Glover. Thats lame.
my vote for worst character has to be
Abraham Reyes is such a deplorable human being he stands out in a game about deplorable human beings. He drove me to (in game) suicide, and inspired a (in game) spree of hate-crimes against mexicans.
and just in case he wasn't enough of an asshole, he
I don't know if this counts, because I don't hate him because of the game he was in as much as I hate the character in general, but Zachz (I don't even care enough to check how his name is spelled) from Arkham Asylum and especially Arkham City.
I took care of him as soon as I could, so that I could punch his face and then forget he exists.
