For reasons I'd rather not get into because it takes too long, I might end up replacing my MP3 player with a 32-gigabyte Zune HD. But I'm undecided right now, and an iPod Classic is out of the question. Again for reasons I'd rather not get into because it takes too long.

So does anybody here have a Zune HD? If so, what can you tell me about it? Does it play a decent range of video and music formats? Is it durable? Is the screen durable? Can I put my own stuff on it without much trouble?

EDIT: This is why. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.284491-The-Zune-HD#11203423]

The Zune HD is a more recent model that's available in many stores.

My sister has one (and I want it!!!!) and it's awesome. The touch screen on it is great and really responsive and the tilt sensor is one of the best I've seen. No kidding.

As far as music/video, I can't speak much for video formats but it takes almost any music format you can throw at it. I'd say get it, as they'll likely be gone in the near future (sad face)

I have a Zune HD and I havent regretted it yet. They will still be making software updates for it they are just not selling the units retail after what they have is gone. It is a really solid device though, as previously mentioned it can play almost any format you give it. Also the software is really easy to use and allows you to easily download podcasts, apps, and videos.

Why not Sansa half the price and can do everything but the wireless trading thing also has Micro SD card slot for memory expansion.

I've used three iPod Classics and every single one of them did this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOpZefAm-y8]. I'm restricted to stuff from Best Buy because I'm getting a gift card for returning this thing. Best Buy does carry Sansas, but they're apparently only compatible with one kind of video, while the iPod has 2 and the Zune has at least 3. And I want a Zune with at least a decent capacity, so that's why I'm looking at the 32 gig.

EDIT: Turns out that noise is normal.

My brother had one of those. He took decent care of it but the damn thing broke in a matter of months and it didn't even have the decency to sound OK while it was working, even with nicer headphones.
Had mine for years and I can tranfer about 700 mp3 to the hard drive before the ipod can sync 1 mp3.

I have a Zune HD, it has worked wonderfully for me because I am a media enthusiast, if you are mainly going to use it for music and movies then go for it. If you are in it for the apps then go for an Ipod Touch. I've had mine since the day before they were released, worked at Wal-Mart in electronics :p, and I have never had a problem, I usually use it when driving in my car and I never turn it off and the battery at full charge can last up to weeks if you use it on and off. Also you can consider buying a Zune Pass for unlimited downloads of millions of songs. The only downside to that is you keep the songs for as long as you have the subscription but you can purchase 10 songs a month for free with the credits they give you so it isn't too terribly bad because that is pretty much an album a month...

*whew* Hoped that helped

EDIT: Also it links up with your Xbox Live if you happen to have it so you can use MS points to buy songs
