Ah! Like moths to a flame.
In the spirit of declaringa bloodthirsty trolling flame war myself to be in the mood for the kind of light hearted thread that's mostly forbidden in the R&P forum[footnote]I'd complain to the management but my doctor keeps telling me not to listen to The Voices.[/footnote] I thought that I'd ask a simple question.
Have you ever felt out of the loop when it comes to gaming jargon and general gaming knowledge that others take for granted?
Case in point: While I played American McGee's Alice, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, and Dragon Age: Origins until my computer LITERALLY refused to play them anymore[footnote]The optic drive on my laptop is going out again.[/footnote] my lack of an internet connection, money, console, money, and other factors[footnote]Bills.[/footnote] kept me fully out of touch with the growing gaming community.
Thus when I got a new laptop and internet connection and was introduced to the Escapist[footnote]Which is the most WUNDRFLL gaming site in the world!!![/footnote] I found that I was more than a little out of the loop.
"Then I took an arrow to the knee" is a perfect example: Everybody knew what it meant/referred to/origin it seemed--and I didn't have a clue. I finally got so annoyed with my ignorance that I Googled the darned thing.
That's just where it starts, but I'm curious if I'm the only one [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/9225-Highlanders-Anonymous] who often feels like the outsider at times.
Give examples of times you experienced the same, please. Show us your humbler side.
