I prefer short and dark-haired girls, personally. So, needless to say, these pageants don't appeal to me.

They also glorify, more often than not, some pretty looks over actual substance, which is my bigger issue, honestly. I'd probably be more likely to be attracted to girls in a Math League competition than those that are in so-called "beauty pageants".

Or maybe I just have a math fetish.
Yes, I would also prefer the girls in a math debate. I mean...contest.
Math debating contest is what I meant.

And now to the one point where I do give a shit: Weight and body: This... This...
I simply don't get this.
All of these girls were muscualar. I mean they had fucking six packs. Where is the attraction in that? WHERE? I'd prefer an overweight girl over that. And don't get me started on model anerexia. Seeing as how things like this represent popular attraction, I just want to know where that comes from!
Can I ask Why is this the point where you give a shit? The girls are showing the World what a true healthy form looks like, the balance of nutrition and exercise.
The attraction is there becuase we as humans generally look for healthy partners, anorexia Is not healthy however and really cant be used to describe the girls becuase to retain that physique they need to eat regular meals.

A better point to give a shit is why there's a Swimsuit competition other to provide public titulation of intelligent young girls for the proletarian masses.
My point being is that you can be healthy without being muscular. I find ZERO attraction to muscle. I find it... creepy. (the closest word in the english dictionary I can use to discribe my indiscribable negitive feelings towards it) I also heavily prefer girls who are between normal and over-weight. I've got nothing against skinny girls, Infact, for the most part so long as your weight isn't life threatining i'm fine with it. But that's just my personal prefrence.

Well couple of things. First of all, your not hip or special for making this thread, lots of people have similar thoughts and have had them for well over a century to the point that this thread is pointless. Secondly, don't be an ignorant whiner. Beauty pageants all revolve around a cultural image of beauty, nobody gives a shit what your issue with that concept of beauty is stop trying to complain that your society has one, every culture has this concept. Thirdly, I'm sure somebody is protesting beauty pageants somewhere, go sign there petition and do something else with your time if they bug you. Compiling on the internet isn't helping anyone. Fourthly, Just to be a dick I'm going to take the postmodern approach to your modern approach and just say Que sera sera, there are pageants and some people like them, why should that upset me.
Did I say I was 'hip' or 'special' for voicing my openion? I simply wanted to voice it in the interest in finding out what other's openions are on this subject. Did I ask for riducule on my own oppenion? No.

So you can go along and be the Unfulfilled mr. Fancy Pants who doesn't contribute anything of use or interest to this thread.
EDIT: Okay, I asked if I was Insaine for holding this oppenion, but I didn't ask to be viewed as a hipster kitty or anything.

Being a tall dude (6'4) I find tall women more attractive simply because it means I don't have to hunch over to kiss the lady. As far as your other points about the blondes, I think its honestly due to media marketing. And the weight issue...well not to be sexist/judgemental or whatever, but I prefer my women to be an athletic build as do most men. But again, that's just opinion. And by athletic, I mean in shape. Don't confuse the issue here.

Well, I believe you've heard the term "Gentlemen prefer blondes", correct? I don't, but I thought I've joke a bit about it. As to the rest, I have no idea. Muscular chicks are scary.

I feel sorry for those women.

I mean, they get so much pressure from the media and shit like that `This is what women are supposed to look like!!!` and then they get guys whining cause they try and look like it.

Meh, if these women want to do the contests, who is to stop them? And as for all the guys saying `bleh`, I have trouble believing they would turn them down given the oppuritunity.
If you dont like beauty contests, dont watch them.

Facepalm? For a beauty paegant?

Having never watched a glorified 'Spot the Difference' contest I find that questioning why people like certain body-types as pointless as the contest themselves.

If you are 'face-palming' about the tall, muscular blondes, I would go with the 'Master Race' mythos. Seems to fit the bill quite well.

If you look at the media in the past, blonde women were generally shown to be more of the femenine ideal. Always smiling, sweet and a bit naive/ditzy, and generally acting in ways that made men feel important and manly. It's worked so well before, so why should the media try to embrace the fiery-tempered red heads or brunettes when a woman can simply pour bleach on her head and march in line?

The height thing is harder for me to pin down. Maybe men just like not having to tilt their head down as much when checking out the goods? Wearing heels also forces women to stand slightly differently so their chest and butt stick out a little more, emphasizing the things that some men find most arousing.

Weight is something that's been in a state of flux. Way back in Ye Olde Days, plump women were seen as better because they could afford to eat well, which meant they'd be healthier and have healthier kids. The working class would likely have seen more muscular women as better since they'd be able to work and take care of their kids at the same time. Eventually, thin became the ideal and the media took it to extremes where seeing ribs was the only way to make it big. Now there are some groups going back to women with some curves to them.

I want to add more, but my brain randomly decided to switch off out of nowhere.

Blondes - Mostly viewed has "having more fun" and have "bigger personalities" than brunettes. I have nothing against hair color.

Height and high heels - Most guys won't admit it, but a long legs are very attractive. High heels than to glorify legs.

Six packs on women - Wait what? I like a woman who can do sports, but six packs are scary on a woman.

I have no clue why blonde haired girls are reviered more attractive than natural hair color girls. Why are blondes viewed higher than other hair color? What's the big deal with this akward shade of yellow?

Next up: Height. This bafles me more than hair color. What's the purpose of being tall? ... It's no big deal, and if you look arround, almost every girl wears high heals to feel tall. Why go through what looks to be a painful expereance just to seem taller? Why mask yourself behind anything? It doesn't make sense! Who said that being tall gave you a better chance at being attractive, because for me, I don't give a shit about height.

And now to the one point where I do give a shit: Weight and body: This... This...

Pageants represent the way a certain group of people think about how a woman should look, what you're basically saying here is 'I think women should look a different way, how can people find these particular women attractive?' which is, essentially, the exact same attitude as the people who organise the pageant.

Also, heels for most women have very little to do with height. They're about posture, lengthening the leg (little to do with height) and emphasizing the...eh... rear.

for the record I like natural hair colouring better and think that once the woman in question is dolled up to the point they look fake, they look shit. Also why the red head hate? to be honest it is kinda hot!

I blame popular culture...tisk tisk
