Yes, I was expecting a knee jerk reaction to be Google because we use it constantly. Then you realise that actually it would be without doubt the worst website to pick.

I'd have to say either Wikipedia (with some minor modifications; i.e. to improve it's news updating, include/ embed videos and sound etc. and perhaps a greater localisation [so you get the news from where you're from as well as world, and make searches more relevant e.g. Portland Oregon vs. Portland Dorset] and then more of that trend of mods) or Youtube (with minor changes like allowing for all manor of iPlayers, porn etc. perhaps to include online shopping and as many videos of smart people talking about whatever they know best so that its more wikipedia).

Then you have to choose between whether you prefer Tv on demand and porn vs. Written down knowledge and news...

or, to refine it even further Videos vs. Writing.

Perhaps this needs a post of its own.

If I'm feeling gracious, and working in the best interests of humanity, either the BBC or Wikipedia. The BBC because the United States would probably be a better place if everyone used news sources that, uh, weren't Fox News. Wikipedia because I suspect daily life would be surprisingly difficult without the instant ability to look up any information we need.

I'd have to go with The Escapists here. With all that extra funding that would come in from every other website from being cut, the site could expand to include features of other websites.

Though the real flaw in this is theres no system in place that could handle 100 million + people on one site. Hell this site moves at a crawl on Wendsdays.... sometimes. Just not feasible.

Plus there would be a problem with all the porn.
