Didn't see this yet, but someone in my user group pointed it out. Apparently Matt and Grey are ending Erin Dies Alone and Critical Miss. They were the only content creators I even kept up with anymore. So long fellas.

I know their Patreon channel hinted at the possibility a while ago. Apparently there were money problems. Then you throw in the occasional guest artist and deadline miss, and you know things are bad.

Good, seeing stories about an entirely deplorable person (Erin) doing utterly shitty things to everyone around her was frankly getting really old and annoying.

When the strips had nothing to do with Erin, they were pretty damn funny. Everything with her in it was a slice of "this is how not to be a person, unless you just want to be a self-absorbed asshole"

I never got Erin Dies Alone. Is it supposed to be funny? Dramatic? Have a plot? I genuinely didnt get what it wanted from me. I much prefer Critical Miss, so I will...be sad it is gone, though Ive had a long head start since I dont even remember when the last one was.

It's possible, I guess, but I'm not sure why they'd intentionally write their post in such a way that it hint at them shutting down the comic. With the site facing trouble and them admitting to not making enough money, now would be an incredibly awkward time for that kind of gag.

I honestly didn't see that tweet as an admission of EDA is finishing. I saw it as a poke at RDR and Rockstar. Also, Grey hasn't tweeted anything else about EDA ending since then and its been a few weeks since that tweet, you think that would've come up once or twice.

I kind of hope your right. Maybe the site will pull through, and this post was just a joke, and the comic will make enough money to sustain the creators. But, as it is, I'm just not sure. There have been way fewer updates, but the strip is still on the schedule. Who knows anymore?

That Red Dead Redemption walking-into-the-sunset tweet was on October 17th. On Sunday, Grey posted linework of a not-yet-published EDA:

In any case:

EDA will continue regardless of the Patreon and the Escapist. If we were to lose all our funding, we'd likely cut down to one or two strips a week and turn it into a hobby project. The comic would still be finished, but it'd take a lot longer to reach that endpoint.
