A lot of forum-goers say that, but they don't have access to the site's finances. Comics, regular videos, competitions, conventions, all these things cost money. If it isn't in the budget, it isn't going to happen. The site is cheaper to run with just the Twitch streams and some written articles and galleries. I guess. Well, not that I guess 'cause you spelled it out, so I get it. It just feels(Truthiness if you will) that not enough is being done. The weekly schedule gets emptier and emptier every month, and that Twitch stream is so annoying with its Autoplay. Alot of the problem is the lack of transparency. We're all in the dark on this, on alot of things, and its scary. Plus Im sure alot of blame gets thrown around (such as at mods) when maybe they dont deserve it, but we dont know who truly does. I know. This is the thing I used to worry and complain about before I was a mod, then I became a mod and a lot of this sort of thing we can't really talk about, which is a different kind of frustrating. Mods have done in the past, which they shouldn't have, but I can still see where their frustration comes from. It's usually a case of having uncommunicative or ineffectual management. For the shadow mods who haven't been around for ages, it's probably worse, because when they were first brought on the site arguably had some of the best community staff. And when the Wild West was implemented, the mods weren't even told until after it was done. I consider that contemptuous. And the line in the sticky thread - "Staff will not monitor or use this forum" - is blatantly wrong, so I have no idea why it was written; if you're bored and/or jaded, that forum is basically free entertainment.Saelune said:
Well, I hope its the latter, rather than the former. I think The Escapist would do well to look to its community for help. Sure, some of us have been snide in the decline of the site, but I think most of us would love to help fix the problems this site has if we can. Id love a more open connection between the users and those in charge, and Im sure some of us would give out some great ideas if we had a better understanding of how things work.
