You would be invincible for all intensive purposes, because anyone who wanted to arrest or kill you could be mind-controlled to love you instead. And before you mention Magneto's helmet, who says we have to play by X-men rules? Really, the only way you could stop a person like this would be with a cruise missile or nuclear bomb - basically he or she would have to be completely unaware that a threat was even present.
I think you mean "intents and purposes", and no you wouldn't. You can't mind control the car you didn't see coming as you cross the street, nor can you mind control cancer or disease away.
No, he's right. Any one with "intensive purposes" - that is, any one with an intense purpose but on a small scale (intensive is the opposite of extensive) - can be mind-controlled.

They can't say "no", so it'd be rape.

Mind control might be difficult if you have to actually control them, rather than just telling them what to do and letting them do it...I mean, it takes quite a while for a person to learn how to walk and talk, and you'd want to be really sure they keep their heart going and so on while you are firing off random signals in their brain.

I think the 'best' superpower is the one which an individual can put to 'best' use, which depends on their personal objectives.

It also largely depends on the limitations of these powers.

As pointed out, Mind Control is excellent when dealing with people, less so when dealing with natural disasters, homicidal computers, things without minds (undead, rednecks, sharks).

On the other hand we have mind reading. Sounds good at first. But most mind reading would be cripplingly mundane or outright useless. And what happens when you try to read someone who thinks in a different language?

One often neglected power I think, is teleportation. Think about it. You'll never be late for work. It would be easy to go on holidays. You could also escape potentially hazardous situations like a house fire or a car accident if your reflexes are fast enough.

Of course there are a lot more but I think I made my point.

I just wrote a whole paragraph explaining why intensive doesn't mean intense but on a small scale, but realized nobody would care.

So, I'm going to stick with the proper response. "Uh, no?"

That said, is anyone here watching the show "No Ordinary Family"? It's kind of cheesy, but it's a refreshing look at super powers and gives context to many of the powers listed here. (Among them are: telekinesis, super strength, super speed, mind control, super intelligence, shape shifting, mind reading, control of fire, the ability to turn into steam... and a few others). From that show, I'm convinced that telekinesis combined with the ability to wipe a person's brain using that power is the ultimate super power. Of course, it helps if you're willing to use that power rather than whine about having the power, but I guess you'd have to watch the show.

Also, Autumn Reeser is like a less-awkward Summer Glau and slightly hotter. Just watch "No Ordinary Family" already...

maybe, but it's not the coolest.
I would much rather fly then have mind control.
hell, mind control is probably near the bottom for awesome, it's boring. it's like, right next to talking to fish.
give me laser eyes or spiderwebs.

That's because you've obviously never made people harbor such intense hatred of each other that they attack each other for your amusement while building your own harem :D

"Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2" has Udo Kier playing the mind controlling Genius "Yuri", who gets defeated by SCIENCE! in the Expansion pack "Yuri's Revenge". Because Albert Einstein pulls awesome Inventions right out his Ass, and because of some other People who aren't shown in the Game who magically develop a Training against mind control, Yuri gets trampled by a Dinosaur or imprisoned in a special anti mind control cell, guarded by people with special anti mind control thingies.
Granted, without the Inventions of Einstein, Yuri would have won, but it's not like the good Guys had the technological Advantage. Yuri had mindcontrol machines, in tanks, in defense devices. Yuri definitely had the best army.

Immortality would suck. There will be a Point where you have seen it all. People are born, grow up, marry, have Kids, grow old and die. There are some Variations, but nothing you can't expect.
Your Friends all die, you'll get to know new People, they'll die aswell, you'll get to know new People, they die as well in ways you've seen countless times before.
Humanity itself will hold not much new. You'll eventually realize that this great big treaty is pretty much the same as the other one and the one before. This War was about Ressources and that was slightly less concealed then the last one.

Maybe Humanity will eventually bomb itself and rebuild, like in the Fallout Universe. And then People will fall back into Rhythms you know all to well. There will be the first People who build new stuff and then there will be People who make the first things you don't need to survive. And those things will be a "Trend". There will be new things that no one really needs, but everyone wants to have.

The Walkman is like the Ipod. Everything has been here before and when you saw it a million billion times you may get a bit tired of it all.

I'd rather have the Ability to manipulate time. Maybe i'll travel to some far off future and make sure that i'll live twice as long as the normal Human. But i do want to die eventually.

Hands down, mind control is strongest super power. Sure, you can't fly or control the weather, but you could just mind control those superhumans who can to do whatever you want. Think about, most of our problems in our lives and their solutions involve other people. Mind control would basically give you a cheat code for life:

- Unemployed and poor? Mind control someone to give you a job. Or just forget the job and mind control bank executives or rich people to give you money
- Unlucky in love? No girl or guy could resist you with mind control. A related question: would mind controlling someone to have sex with you be rape? Because technically they would consent, even if you put the idea in their head
- Doing poor in school? Turn those D-pluses into As just by looking at the instructor
- Tired of shitty games and moves? Mind control the best development houses to make exactly what you want
- etc.

You would be invincible for all intensive purposes, because anyone who wanted to arrest or kill you could be mind-controlled to love you instead. And before you mention Magneto's helmet, who says we have to play by X-men rules? Not quite: Reality manipulation is above that. The reason? Well, it's Manipulation of Reality itself. Mind Control? That's part of reality, ergo, it falls under one's ability to manipualte, control, bend, and break. All the other stuff you mentioned? THat falls under being part of reality as well. And, more than that, you can simplky make a reality where no-one has powers, or everyone does, or some people do; you could jump into the world's of your favorite media and fuck around, changing events as you see fit, and, yes, even controlling people's minds.

Spacial/ Temporal Manipulation is still 1up from mind control for me, the moment I stop liking anything you're doing, I can wipe you out of existence, then bring you back, and force you to experience pain, suffering, and death, over, and over, and over.

And before you start with "I'd mind control you not to do it"
If I even so much as percieve someone was a threat to me, I could teleport, faster than light, to their location, turn them to dust, and have gone back to my house and turned on my TV before they could think to activate their mind control. Or even better, rewrite history so that they were killed by Tabun Gas in WW2. Yeah, Space Time Manipulation Wins over.

Time manipulation, sooooooo much better. Get in a fight? Punch with a fist moving at light speed. Suck at games? Triple reflexes. Stuck in a test? Pause time to think instead of just straight up cheating, you might learn something. "Think fast"? Ok. Computer shit slow? Encase individual components in a time slow bubble to have infinite performance. And of course, see hot girl, no-one's the wiser... and now there's a good question, if no-one's the wiser, how morally wrong is it really? Pause time to think.

The only difference between charisma and mind control is the difference between a woman excitingly telling her friends that her new boyfriend "works on me like magic" and J.K. Rowling writing some variation on "abracadabra" into a book.

Purely a matter of degree and practicality.

No need for power t have all powers. The BEST super power would be Infallibility. If you cant be wrong you could simply say I can fly and you would be able to because you cannot be wrong. you could basically do whatever you want because you would be god. and THAT is check and mate!
You're assuming that reality would bend to your will, instead of your will bending to reality. If you had infallibility, then you could never be wrong. This means that you can only say correct things.

In other words, you COULDN'T say you could fly, even as a joke or a lie, because you can only be correct.

No, the ultimate power is to rewrite the Universal Function.
It's the laws of all physics and interactions, which include how the brain functions.
