Pub Club Master Race!

Assemble!

Just use to 'cheese' to describe everything.

Cheese is the answer they want to hear.
Now Daystar Clarion, the Publisher's Club sure sounds like a great deal at the low low price of $1000, which gives you HD video, a super badge, special content, announcements given before others, no captchas, no ads, a custom title, AND discounts on many fine products, but is it really worth it?

But wait you say! Act now and I can get it for ONLY $20 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/registration/subscribe]! I feel like I'm practically robbing the Escapist at gun point for such a deal!!!
And that's not all Tippy2k2!

If you join now, you'll also get this commemorative plate!

What has Elvis Presley got to do with a videogame website I hear you ask?

Well if you sign up now, we'll tell you :D
That plate was the best gift I've ever recieved. It's quite the conversation piece, too.

I liked the captchas that were some really well-thought and great lines, like 'through the grapevine' and 'hobby horse'. It seems like The Escapist is a sell-out by making me type 'The All-New Chevvy Geo' or... Whatever in my captchas.

When Pepsi asks me to write whatever I want that describes it, I write 'dirt pop' and it works fine.

But if The Escapist is going to advertise to us to avoid bots, they may as well put in game quotes. Where's the captcha that says 'Somebody set up us the bomb'?

Edit - I just randomly realized something. What's better, having a bot post advertisements, or being forced to type in an advertisement to post? Who's the bot now? OoooOOOOOoooh... But surely I jest.

On a slightly related note, I was asked to describe Holiday Inns, and I said they were a gay bathhouse. It seemed OK being called that, because it let me post.

When it asked me to describe bottled water, it wouldn't accept "stupid," but it would accept "wet." I really don't understand these captchas though. Isn't advertising supposed to tell us what the product is, rather than us telling them? How are we supposed to describe a product if no one has told us about a single unique feature of that product? They might as well make their campaign "make generalizations about midsize sedans and frozen pizza"

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I think what makes me hate it the most is that its under the guise of being to prevent spammers but its sure as hell not there for that, if it was it would only show up if you had less then 1k posts or something.

Plus the damn things aren't even game related, its for shitty soft drinks or banks or crappy chevy.

You guys are all so lucky. I'm only getting Chevy Sonic ads, and I can't type whatever I want

At least the old captcha's had a purpose. Yeah they could be hard to read at times, but what most people don't know is that those words were actually pictures of smeared words from old newspapers, our answers were actually being used to figure out what in the fuck they were. So those ones were at least productive in some way.

Having to type ad slogans makes my skin crawl. I haven't had to describe a product yet, thank God.

I like 'em. They're no more inconvenient than the old captchas and they seem to be making a lot of people rage for some reason. The hot intensity generated by these First World problems keeps me warm at night.

As it has been stated before: if you can't be bothered to deal with the captcha, sub to the PubClub.

I've been on this site for many years, so a small annual fee for ad-free access is more than reasonable.

I fucking hate them, hate them, hate them! I feel that it's just fucking evil to make me write out an advertizement to post here. I haven't had the ones that let you write what you want be fuck them too anyway.
