Where the money comes from, I have no idea. Why it's not put into the American debt repayments, I have no idea.
Well, its coming from China, our leading lenders. This debt serves a similar function to the opium wars of years past.
The West buys a lot from China, but they buy little of our products, resulting in a large amount of Western currency in China's possesion.
In the late 1800's, they got the currency back by selling opium to China, but now we get it back through loans.

Everything is about confidence. If the investors are confident that the US will go up, the market will go up. So if they spend money on a bunch of little projects to create jobs and a lot of jobs are created and people slowly get out of debt and investors start investing then ta-dah we come out of this in maybe a year but thats being very, very hopeful.

Thank god you guys voted in a Black President because that alone is enough to have the confidence to spend money in a time where we need people to spend money.

This is why we need another great war to boost the economy. Everyone that has less than 1% of Warren Buffet's net worth is automatically conscripted into the army.

They need to get rid of the negative inflation, it'll keep people from buying.

The problem with the $7billion buy out or whatever, is the fucking country now has a case of "me too", and everyone is asking for money. Vegas alone is asking for 50million for a mob museum, states are asking for money.
2009, the year America went bankrupt.
700 Billion, as in SEVEN HUNDRED. ("...not based on any particular data point, we just wanted it to be really big." - Treasury spokesperson.")

There's an excellent introduction here [http://www.thislife.org/radio_episode.aspx?episode=355] to the events leading up to all this from back in May last year, well worth the listen. :)
