It's not exactly heartwarming (the guy is at least a couple hundred dollars in the hole because of this) but at least it wasn't a complete horror story.

I dunno. I'm calling this one a wash.

That's pretty damn cool.

I mean yeah he stole the laptop and stuff but....that's pretty considerate for a thief. Cool stuff :)

I have to agree with the professor on this one. Posessions can be replaced, but data, nay, MEMORIES, are much harder to.

I'd probably feel the same way if my PS3 was stolen, and the next week, the hard drive or something was returned. I'd say, "Damn, well, that's 300 bucks down the drain, but at least I've still got my game saves".

The PS3 is just hardware, but the data is all of the battles I've had, the challenges I've overcome, and the stories I've experienced. THAT'S what's really important.

Stealing is wrong, but I feel the thief, perhaps, may have been stealing for something other than greed. Perhaps he needed food, or he had bills to pay. This is all speculation, of course, but it IS nice to believe that there's still goodness in the world.

Damn, the thief must play a lot of Fallout 3 -- and takes the Karma metre with him into real life.

Doesn't give me any more hope for humanity though, he still stole his laptop... and his library card...

seriously who does that? :p
Agreed. Aren't library cards free?
I believe so, he must collect them.
He is a gentleman and a scholar.
This guy deserves a medal!
If only we knew who he was...

World's Kindest Thief =) I wonder if he had intended to return that data before he stole it or was it him seeing the masses of data and something as personal as a calendar that made him want to. It gives me a little hope for humanity. I know he could have just not stolen it in the first place but data can be completly irreplaceable, whereas a laptop can be bought again.

Wow, even if what he did was a dick move the fact that he returned most of the thing, and then returned all of the back-up memory, is a awesome thing.

Like he said, it's one of those nice things that gives you a bit of hope for the world after all the crap you hear daily.

The thief must have seen how much irreplaceable data the guy had on his laptop and felt bad. Good for him. I guess?

Thieves now wear top hats and monocles.

The age of the gentleman thief is born.
I think that might drop your stealth score a little bit.
but it does wonders for your charisma

OT:

woo!

'bout time a thief did the right thing...after the thieving thing...

that's pretty damn awesome. If someone stole from me I'd hope they'd have the decency to screw me over as little as possible, too.

Well, that's pretty nice!

I would've never thought that someone would actually do that...
