Hooray for everyday heroes!

Wow, that's a hell of a crossover. The only way it could have been more awesome is if the thief shook his fist screaming, "Curse you justice pals! You have foiled my plans today, but I will return! No comic is safe from the sweaty palms of....SIR SWIPES-ALOT!"

I wish I'd been there, with a camera.
i was in the shop next door when it happened- saw them all crowded around the entrance, wondered wtf was going on
yeah same. It was pretty damn confusing.
It made the national news in Australia, and think it was all because he was dressed as Spiderman
hmm you play magic?

I wish I could have seen that, although the story mode of it was probably better. I'm sure they had a more difficult time with the robber than the article said. that would have detracted from the sight.

One Jedi, the Jedi, two Jedi, many Jedi.

No such thing as Jedis. And using apostrophes to pluralize words is just grammatical failure. >_>
So you've proved you are nerdier than your fellow man. Congratulations. All you had to say was "The plural of Jedi is Jedi".

Adelaide has got some... characters... in it.

I'm surprised they didn't mention Spiderman's hobby: murdering Backpackers on the weekends.
Oh, how original. Because no one ever gets murdered in Sydney... NSW may have 5 times more people than SA, but it has 7 times the murder rate.

But on topic: I heard about the story later that day, but I sadly opted to go to Adelaide's other main comic book store for free comic book day, and missed out on witnessing the scene first-hand.
All I know is that Wolf Creek was a seriously grim film. Was that near Adelaide? OT, do you think the crook knew the value of the comic he was taking? Not ever being a collector (Our household didn't really have the spare income for comics, imagine Oliver twist with a NES) I wouldn't know a $150 comic if it bit me on the arse.

So, does this mean Kick-Ass was based on a true story after all?

My hero! oh, sorry... Heroes! But really? comic books? He must really love his comics. The very least he could do is to dress up as a villain.

I am actually not surpirsed to hear this. Since the 3 comic book stores I went to on Saturday all had guards of some sort near the entrances. When I asked, they mentioned that they get a lot of extra traffic on Free Comic day, and some people think that Free Comic Day means ANY comic...

Off topic: The murders Wolf Creek is loosely based on took place in the Northern Territory and New South Wales, so no, not near Adelaide. And Wolfe Creek, the place, is even further away in Western Australia. It was filmed in South Australia though, I think.

On topic: Having been to that comic shop, I'm guessing it might have been one of the Absolute Sandman collections, like this http://www.dccomics.com/vertigo/graphic_novels/?gn=6109 They're big books though, so if that was what he tried to steal, I really don't know how he expected to conceal it and get away with it.

Also, to those confused about what Free Comic Book Day actually is, it's an annual event where comic publishers put out special free issues of comics, often promotional ones for popular or upcoming series or reprints of first issues. And while many stores will have sales on during Free Comic Book Day it doesn't mean it's store-wide five finger discount day. It's just meant to promote comics to a wider audience.
