What things about your country make you want to just hang your head in shame?

Personally, I'm Australian, so the obvious choice is this.

What are yours?

~EDIT~

You have to give your country as well :p

I live in England... take your pick from the following:
Poor Leadership
Football violence
Poor Prison Sentences (3 months for kill 6 people in a car accident while being drunk, WTF?)
Racist Idiots (BNP)
Celebrating when we get 3rd in a sporting event like we won it.

Separate political parties. Both the Democrats and Republicans fill me with disgust, no wonder nothing ever gets done.

Stories like this [http://www.correntewire.com/man_tells_cheney_i_think_your_iraq_policies_are_reprehensible_is_handcuffed_jailed]. Makes you wonder if it's really Twenty-First Century America we're living in and not King George's England. Seriously. You know it's bad when this kind of thing happens so often, it could fill a book. [http://www.thenewpress.com/index.php?option=com_title&task=view_title&metaproductid=1658]

I need to get my hands on a copy of that book.

Back on topic, anyone ever hear of the duct tape bandit? He made national news for trying to rob a liqour store with a layer of duct tape concealing his face from being identified. The worst part is, the police video taped the removal of the tape from his face after they caught him and he denied that it was him before AND after he watched the tape.

I'm from the Philippines, and there's no shortage of things to be ashamed about:

poor education
horrendous leadership
corruption in the government
general disregard for rules and laws
general stupidity and pig-headedness (its like the stereotype people have of Americans, except without the "rich and powerful country" prerequisite)

And I'm not even getting started -__-

If I'd have to pick one though, it'd be the way most Filipinos generally act like idiots on the web. Barely literate for most parts, never anything useful to contribute. *sigh* It sucks being in a third world country.

Hmmm.... well, our country never does anything. Nothing really changes. Oh, and I'm ashamed by a few of our politicians. But it's not that surprising.

Oh, and I'm in Canada.

How people get so pissed off about such small things.
Any thing you say or do, somebody will take offensive to it

I have a message to my fellow Americans: Fuck Political Correctness

Im from the U.S.A, and I hang my head in shame at the fact that our government is trying to socialize our healthcare while countires With socialized healthcare are desperately trying to make theirs like ours (capitalist "choose-and-pay-for-your-own" style).

Also that half of the people in this country are lazy fat idiots that are oblivious to anything more complicated than last nights (american) football game, but that doesn't mean people should stereotype us to all be that way like most people do.

America. regardless of how many people I know that vote for the guy we are voting for.. the other guy always wins. and then runs the country like a 3 year old with a firetruck for the next 8 years.
And I gotta say the most embarrassing thing is fat people. Like the obscenely fat people that just look like if they got hit by a car they would explode into KFC grease. Look at people in Africa and then look at fat Americans. It just seems unfair... hmmm maybe we could ship a few fat people into third world country's and let the populace eat them.
oh yeah and pot is illegal! Bull! Bull! bull!
