I'm surprised nobody's mentioned nudity from Daggerfall yet.
In all seriousness, I miss being able to levitate. I get tired of having to find the one and only path that will take you up a mountain all the time.

I was sad to see levels in unarmed disappear, even if admittedly it was slightly rubbish in Oblivion. If they'd used the Brawl system more with a levelling benefit I would have been happy. However the biggest omission in my view is the lack of an ability to create spells. I loved that and found it most diverting. I loved my 'Magma Bather' spell that allowed me to go for a dip and take liberal shortcuts around the Planes of Oblivion. Not to mention upping exporation possibilities.

Morag Tong and, of course, the Dark Brotherhood. Back in Morrowind they were badass, and in Oblivion being part of the exclusive family was creepily delightful. The Skyrim Brotherhood just doesn't have that murderous flair, and I didn't have nearly as much fun slaughtering my victims.

I miss chests/containers organizing things for you in the same way your inventory is organized, rather than just having it lumped into one menu and scrolling through all the items.

spell crafting
spears and crossbows, my second character always was armed with a spear and a crossbow because i just love those. i know spears are hard to implement because their main advantage is reach and that is harder to implement than the trusted old one hand fast two hand slow approach.
one of the main reasons i love demon/dark souls so much is that spear (or polearm in general) are a viable option in those games.

The ONLY thing I really miss (Extremely trivial really) Is on the stats where is shows your Status in each of your guilds. Seeing the symbols for Listener, or being a blade. that was awesome to me.

I miss the invetory tabs from Oblivion. Its not horrible how it is now, but I really liked sorting by certain parameters. Also not sure if they were in before, but I was really hoping for spears. My Odin look-a-like just doesn't seem all there without a spear.

I miss NPC's actually caring about what race you are. Selecting a race in Skyrim is purely an aesthetic choice but it really has no effect on the game, aside from some a few race specific comments from NPC's. For example, all of the Thalmor representatives are equally as douchey to me as they are to everyone else even though I'm an Altmer too...

(Seriously, acrobatics. come on. Seeing as how I can just spend a minute or two and jump up every mountain in skyrim AND Oblivion I don't ever see why you took it out)
They took it out because it was a pointless skill to have. Literally everyone has to jump, and specializing in it just meant that you would be more boned when you fight the next boss monster because you should have spent time on a more useful skill.
You would never have to specialize in it. Especially in Skyrim. It's not like it would be too hard to implement seeing as how they've done it before. To me it just makes the game better, regardless of whether or not it is a "pointless" skill. I just personally don't like how they keep removing all these little features that made Morrowind feel that little extra bit of special.

Because while it may not be needed, it can be a blast to have. I personally almost cried laughing when I heard that mage scream all the way down and die right in front of me. I then went and put on his boots and did the exact same thing.

Spears and crossbows. Maybe a longbow (Morrowind didn't have them but whaevs). I hate how I can barely cast a fireball yet the entire mage's guild reports to me... I'm a fucking warrior specializing in two-handed funzies. I ain't no magic guy.

Silly.

I was going to say Cliff Racers as a joke, but as I was typing it I thought actually watching 10 cliff Racers fighting a dragon mid-air would be kind of cool. Particularly with the lore being that cliff Racers once chaced away all the dragons in mirrowind.

I miss the varied armor pieces.

I miss the deeper longer guld advancement (I was shocked when my character was made the archmage when having all of one magical skill at adept level)

I miss spears.

I miss choices of werebeast you could become.

I miss magic crafting.

I miss the varied spells and skills you could get.

I miss everything that was cut since Morrowind...

Maybe except RNG based hits when I clearly just shot a guy in the face with my crossbow. I mean, come on.

Oh! speaking of shooting, I miss enchanting a ring to deal 3-8 damage on target.
I mean, if you ever did make what I call a Gatling Ring, you should know how much fun it is to use Enchanting as a primary combat skill.
That, plus a cross bow equals UNLIMITED CROSSBOW

I always waited to get those grand souls so I could start spamming spells EVERYWHERE. Morrowind's enchanting was so broken, but that's what made it fun. There's no reason why a few tweaks to it couldn't allow it to be kept in the newer games. Hell, just give us the recharging souls again. I hated emptying a sword after attacking with it a few times and then having to go through the work of refilling it. At least Skyrim gives us that one perk...

I miss the ability to have a Human Male that looks somewhat attractive and with a complexion that doesn't look like you have had your face rubbed over and over against a brick wall.

Varied armor pieces were removed to alleviate strain on the processor. While it would be nice to have them back it's doubtful they'll return in a vanilla Elder Scrolls game in the future. At least not to the extent Morrowind did.

Guild questlines in Morrowind were absurdly long and were styled after older RPGs in that regard. They didn't particularly have an overarching plotline, and to my knowledge a lot of players were irked that they were locked out of certain quests when playing a Knight. Morrowind required at least 3-4 playthroughs inorder to complete it 100% and most gamers really didn't have the patience for that.

While I dont agree it should have been dumbed down it's the big reason why it happened.

With werebeasts, Daggerfall's wereboar and Werewolf were very rare to find if I recall correctly. You only ever found them once in a blue moon and even then it was harder still to find a Werewolf over the boar. Alongside that they were also very powerful and there was what a .5 percent chance of catching Lycanthrope from an attack by them?

Given the fact they got rid of randomly generating worlds in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim it became natural that a lot of this got simplified. It would be too annoying for players to fight a powerful creature like a Werewolf randomly on the over world for instance.

from morrowind: levitation. all sorts of goofy fun to be had with that.

from oblivion: spellmaking. sure people exploited it, but its a game for gods sake, what's the matter with me being able to make a death ball spell that does 999 fire, frost, and storm damage to every enemy in a 30 yard radius?

The thing that I miss most in Skyrim and by extension Oblivion is the sense of a continuous world. Instead of having cities in they're own cell, I want the Morrowind style of open cities that then change into another cell when you enter a building. As it is now in Skyrim its like walking out of the world and into a large building without a roof.
