They have. Non of the story from TSL is in the holocrons story thing.
Though, wait, since it's in the Star Wars universe, wouldn't George Lucas have the final say as to what is/isn't canon?
George Lucas didn't write Kotor 1 or 2's story.

I'd be surprised if he even played Kotor. A lot of the writers at Lucasarts decide what is canon when it comes to the Expanded Universe.
I know he didn't write it, but I'm pretty sure he'd still have to approve it. From what I hear of Lucas, he's pretty fond of scrutinizing everything when it comes to Star Wars projects.
From what I remember of George he only tends to get angry when things start to pertain to his merchandizing.

Like when he prevented some trading card company from selling Yoda cards because they named Yoda's species. Which is just something he cares strongly about.

But wether or not a specific character from a vidjima game is alive, probably not. They can still sell Darth Revan/Malak action figures with Kung Fu Grip

1&2) There will be a quest chain for the Sith where you must track down a cult worshipping Revan, which will lead you to finding out his true faith (seriously Bioware, what is it with you guys and making your canonical heroes white males? DER ÜBERMENSCH)
I made him black, and always read his lines like Demoman just for the sake of being funny.

Now that is probably the most novel approach to Revan I ever heard of. I also believe that warrants a cookie.

That said, I wonder if Gary Schwartz (the voice of the Demoman and Heavy) has a part in The Old Republic, heh. Considering he's done a million voices/roles over the past two decades.

Can you make a Jedi Gunslinger? I just went through KotOR II with Mira and Atton both doing the Master Speed + Dual Mandolorian Rippers + Master Rapid Shot.

You probably can't make a ridiculously overpowered character like you can in the KotOR games, though. Stupid multiplayer...

Wrong. I got a chance to talk to the lead writer of it. They haven't been advertising using stuff from KoTOR 2 because they want to keep that stuff a surprise- questions will be answered. He explained why they haven't mentioned anything, too- because the events surrounding the exile were not public knowledge. Everyone that knows exactly what happened is either dead or simply gone.

I remember my Jedi Gunslinger runthrough.

Ah memories of trying to kill Bandon using only my blasters and reloading my savegame 1000+ times

Last I heard Jedi/Sith can't equip blasters and non-Jedi can't equip lightsabers, it kinda makes sense to me.

Oh, in KotOR it's not a good build. In KotOR II, however, it's pretty damn powerful because of all the upgrades and some additional feats.

I think it's a shame that the story from Kotor 2 seems to be getting pushed to the side in favour of a more traditional Star Warsy Good/Evil Jedi/Sith premise. The story that's revealed about Revans motivations in Kotor 2 is intriguing, how he wanted to create a cohesive empire through conquest not out of lust for power but out of a desire to save his home. Unfortunately it seems instead the premise is that no, he was all evil and such, evil sith from beyond corrupted him and whatnot and he was sent to take over yonder galaxy etc etc.

Pity.

Also I've gotta admit I always liked The Exile as a character more than Revan.

Now now, let's not resort to scapegoating, they messed up Jade Empire perfectly fine without EA's "influence". They're not a perfect developer simple as. Nostalgia might cloud it but most Bioware games have a habit of stubbing its toe, if not downright tripping over a few issues that prevent it from being a true masterpiece.

While it's probably true that EA decides Bioware's direction in part, it'd be just silly/delusional to hold EA wholly responsible for how Dragon Age 2 turned out. =p

Then it would've been up to Bioware to curb their enthusiasm accordingly rather than to try and take on more than what could possibly be done within a one year development cycle.
Not to mention I'm pretty sure EA didn't come in and personally mess up some of the game's poorer dialogue options.
