[b/]I don'r nessicaryly mean cringing or feeling uncomforatble as a result of the work being bad[/b] <-but of coarse those examples are fine too

I'm talking about those certain things that come up in a move/game/book/whatever that you find phsyically difficult to watch, and you might even have to leave the room

for me I was watching the wonderful series "Orange is the new black" its about a typical sheltered white woman going to prison for something she did 10 years prior

now usually you know how thease things go, theres a lot of potential for cring factor....of coarse in OTNB "white lady in minority land" is dealt with more evenly

one small part was where she had to do the dredded "find somewhere to sit in the foodhall" thing, this is one of my deepest fears and I found it hard to watch...in fact I hate to mute it and look away

another thing was where she accidently dissed the lady who runs the kitchen which in itself was cringey but the nest day shes given a "special" breakfast shes all like "oh thankyou so much!" its not her fault...but uggghh...and yeah you don't want to know what it was...

I can't watch scenes where somebody gets bullied. I just can't. It's pure torture.

I can't stand overly embarrassing situations. They're good in that they get the their desired reaction from me but I just can't stand em.

That Watamote anime really got to me, couldn't get past the first 2 episodes.

Orange is the New Black is a fantastic show. Love every minute of it!

For me, my kryptonite, the one thing I cannot stand is...

Awful singing.

I can't take it. It's the main reason I never watched American Idol. And it's reason #312 for why I absolutely hated the show LOST. That stupid song that Dominic Monaghan's "band" was singing, it was just terrible. The writers only came up with a refrain, they couldn't even be bothered to write a chorus for a fictitious song. For contrast, entire songs were written for the movie Walk Hard, and even though it was a comedy, the songs were still fairly believable, which is more than I can say for "You Are Everybody".

You ever seen Welcome to the Dollhouse? The opening scene will have you running away screaming.

I must get around to watching Orange is the New Black.

OP: I always struggle with rape scenes, they seem to affect me more than most.

The Sopranos, both films and the book of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, ASOIAF and Game of Thrones...

They're just a few recentish examples I can think of. It's not that I can't deal with them, they just tend to make me feel really uncomfortable. I did have to leave the room for parts of the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo though.

It is, it really is. It's a comedy, but it pulls zero punches in its depiction of a bullied high schooler.

the funny thing is...in a lot of highschool centric stuff theres no real reason for the protagonists to be the "uncool" kids....

its not even your typical "grr ima beat you up" bullies...its usually more of a unconcious, more sinister thing

If there is one thing that will always make me cringe, it's when shows will have the nerdy outcast loner try to ape what other, more popular people are doing and fail spectacularly. Especially the anime Watamote, which hits a little too close to home for me, feeling less like a comedy and more like a flashback. It probably doesn't help that I looked pretty much identical to the main character when I was in high school as well.

On a less personal note, a good eye-gouging will get a wince out of me 9 times out of ten. Ouch.

As much as I LOVE me some Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (aka Haganai), there are a few "heated" scenes between Yozura and Sena that were kind hard to look at, at first...

Other than that, in general, whenever I try to watch a NTR-related hentai, I can never watch them to the end... ever... (I can barely watch pass the first "few minutes", sometimes...)

And just to remember stuff from my childhood, I remember not being able to watch the final scene in the original Total Recall... (Those eyes, man...)

Huh... I guess I REALLY do not like "fictional" torture in any way, shape, or form... (More or less given the situation...)

Mostly drawn out scenes of someone putting their foot in their mouth and publicly making an ass/humiliating themselves while tripping over their explanations. I don't mean a quick faux pas, I mean those excruciatingly long ones that carry on long after it stops being funny to the point of being one of those 30 second Family Guy gags that go on for 5 minutes or an episode of The Big Bang Theory.

Bad comedy is always painful or poorly executed fan service like bald references in X-men First Class or every reference in Terminator Salvation. I also have some problems with puns, though mostly when they are earnest. Puns can be fun when the one making the puns are aware of how horrible they are, but puns meant as actual earnest jokes tend to be quite cringeworthy.

And i can't watch violent scenes involving eyeballs, it's just too painful to watch.

Typically any scene that involves someone severely embarassing themself, especially if it expected to be funny. I only saw a few episodes of 'The Office' and it seemed to focus entirely on this. I suppose it was intentional and is just the kind of humour that show deals with but I just don't get how people find that funny, it just makes me too uncomfortable.

In terms of violence I have a real problem with seeing people being stabbed in the heart, its really weird as I don't really have a problem with anything else: amputation, decapitation, headshots, disembowelment... its all fine but just seeing someone stabbed in the heart makes me cringe.
As an example, that scene at the end of 'The Rock' when Nicholas Cage has to stick that massive needle into his heart, Yeesh!

Stupid or poorly executed jokes always put me off. They usually go hand in hand, and they are very common now.

Also, getting a good view of someone slaughtered or seeing someone's organs. I don't see the point.

Characters embarrassing themselves can make me cringe pretty hard. Especially in a public speaking context.

I've never had to leave the room or anything though. It's not real.

It's 10x worse when I see it happening to someone real. There's a Youtube clip out there of a young newsreader completely screwing up that I find difficult to watch.

Oh, also, characters that have passed some point of no return making a pitiable attempt to make things right. Like that bit in District 9 where he vomits black gunk on the cake, then feebly tries to clean in off with a napkin before passing out.

when you say it like that it actually sounds pretty funny...instead of...you know, horrifying

sort of similar where the protagonist is a dick for no no real reason...or does something morally reprehensible that could have been avoided (kind of like a part in Django unchained except that is a grey area)

[sub/]does not apply so much when you know the protagonist is supposed to be an irredeemable piece of shit[/sub]
