Fellow Escapists, is there anything in games that can actually not feel well?
For me, it's being hunted by a unkillabe enemy. In Dead Space, there is one enemy, aptly named the "Hunter" that can regenerate it's limbs, so it can only be slowed. Made worse by the fact it can travel through vents, like most creatures in Dead Space.
I hate this, but it's part of what made the game so freaky!

I usually don't like it when games fail to give you the simpler moral choices. For instance, on my second playthrough of AC, I had an enemy yield to me during the second last memory sequence, but found that I had to kill him to move on. I was so angry that I just stopped playing.

The Purification in the Dark Brotherhood quests. Some of the best characterisation led up to a sickeningly emotional experience :S

-Being cornered by something creepy/big
-Creepy areas
-Creepy monsters
-Darkness

I've stopped playing games because areas/dungeons/your mother was scary/creepy.

I was doing a quest in WoW yesterday in which I had to swim into an upside down sunken ship. All of a sudden I got dizzy and disoriented, because everything was upside down and I guess I was tired at the time. It was quite odd since normally I'm immune to that sort of thing.

Mexico in Red Dead Redemption made me uncomfortable. You are forced to help the government kill all of the men in a town so that they could have the women. I immediately shot the leader of the people I was working with and lost the mission. Somehow I made it through all of the story missions in Mexico, but I was angry through the whole thing. After that, I went on a killing spree and felt a little better... Only a little though.
This too. You were pretty much a rapist in that mission. Felt terrible. I also hated helping Reyes, he was a dick, and obviously would be the next dictaitor, shame I couldnt kill them both.
if you play undead nightmare you find that he's a zombie toward the end and you get to blow his head off....oh and you also get to kill Desanta again
OT: taking a trip into the uncanny valley in either the game play or the cutscenes of a graphically advanced or realistic game.
watching a friendly or likeable character(even if they are 'evil' and your supposed to hate them) get killed or greviously injured.
having to start over and redo something difficult after something makes me get get stuck, have to turn off the game/console, or because I forgot to save

I can't explain it but when I jump from a super super high tower to the ground or something, I'll start having a seizure or something, anyone else get this?

When I get hit on by other females in games. I know Asari aren't technically females but I think I got lesbian raped by Ardat-Yakshi. V_V I didn't have the paragon points... I mean what game forces guy on guy action? Oh yeah doesn't Cloud have to dress in drag and go on a date with guy? Never mind.

mine is when i go to certain areas in shadow of colossus. like if you go into the forest or go underwater in the lake, because there's no real sounds there except for your character or if your underwater the sound that makes, it feels really weird. especially when you go under water after beating the water colossus and look around. it's an endless abyss and it makes me feel like something's going to swim up and eat me.

I enjoyed illing him in undead nightmare. Along with Seth. Sadly they dont stay dead, and the game ignored the fact I killed seth. So I killed him again :D
As did I.....But whats this about killing Seth? is there some story mission that I missed?

As evil as I may be in KoTOR, I can never bring myself to enslave the wookies.

I'll extort old people, spit on aliens, use jedi mind tricks to force a stranded woman to give me her only item of value for free, force one of team members to kill his best friend, go through the relationship quest with Karth just to make my betrayal that much more satisfying, and damn the galaxy to an era of Sith rule, but I can't bring myself to allow Czerka to continue their slave trade.

I hate the minigame in Mario Party 8 where you had to shake the Wii mote up and down to shake the can on screen to get your "soda" to spray the highest. I always felt dirty after playing that minigame because it feels like I'm giving the Wii mote a handjob. I have to admit though no one has yet to bet me at that minigame.

It might sound lame, but when a game hints that it wants you to use one weapon, but you want to use a different one. Like in RE4 you junk the first pistol right away, but in every cutscene in the game Leon is always using it. It's like I feel guilty for having a mind of my own...

Killing seth isnt story related, I just did it because I hate the guy.
Basicallyafter he first talks to you playing cards, I threw a firebottle at him and his friend, he survived so I dragged him on my horse. Then you complete his quest, go back, he lives, despite being dead. And then after he party I kill him and his guests. And the he is alive for the ending. No getting rid of that guy. Must be the glass eye.
curse that glass eye I really wanted to kill him. And I also want to bushwack the rockstar writer who decided not to let you kill him

Fear 2. This game gave me powerful and unpleasant physiological reactions both times I tried to play it. Liked the combat system, hated wading through blood every fifteen miutes in a helpless "agh, my controls dont work" cinematic loaded with black-arts mind-frell.

This game used knowledge of human psychology of fear an it's triggers to intentionally induce these kind of of reactions in the player. Sub-audible tones, iconic & subconcious imagery, flickering lights at specific frequencies, forced helplessness etc. Helplessness being a common thread amoung sufferes of PTSD it would seem that the game was trying to inflict trauma on me. This goes far beyond creating 'atmosphere' and mood-setting and had such an effect on me that I could not play the game.

There has been a disturbing trend in other 'mature' games to create situations where the player is made helpless, immobalized, disarmed, given an undefeatable foe, made to kill inocent people or watch them die (Prey comes to mind), commit atrocities and the like. Whats that all about? Who thought this would be fun? Who likes it when their controller goes dead and they left watching the action unfold, spectating as their avatar is hijacked?

"Try the latest hit from MindMelt: 'Helpless Victim 2' (no controller necessary) beg for your life, watch as the plot unfolds without you, wait for it all to be over. New stockholm syndrome power-ups and improved bleed-o-meter. Who needs gameplay, we deliver 50 Bigabytes of graphic virtual pain, psychological damage and a new trauma-tron 2000 engine."
