Ummm... this. At any point. But particularly at a certain point on DECK 4.

Hell yeah SHODAN was mentioned. She scares the piss out of me too.

But recently, it's been the husks from Mass Effect still. I think it's the sound they make and the fact that they keep coming ;-;

The one thing that will forever scare me though is the fetus creatures in the half life mod Cry of Fear. If you don't kill them fast enough, they will make you kill yourself. It's horrifing.

I never heard that before in this gam- OH GOD WHAT'S GOING ON? WHAT'S HAP- AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME LEAVE ME ALONE LEAVE ME ALONE LEAVE ME ALONE LEAVE ME ALONE PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE"

Water enemies.

I flat out refuse to play Serious sam again because of the sewer level, with these fucking things waiting in the murky waters. You can only see them once they are in biting range.......

This! SO much fucking this!

Water enemies always freak me the fuck out, I remember playing, I think it was Jak and Daxter as a kid, and I tried to swim outside of the bounds of the map. Suddenly, a giant fucking fish came out of the water and ate me and I've never been able to swim in murky water in video games again. Playing Black Mesa was awful because I forgot about the whole Ichthyosaur level. Needless to say, pants were shat.
Once again: This.

In real life I have no problem swimming in deep waters, but water enemies in games freak me out like hell. Gothic had some of the worst offenders - giant snakes that kept circling around a small shack in a creepy swamp. They still give me nightmares.

Aiyaaaaaa

Swimming things with gaping mouths that could swallow you whole if they wanted too, jeez, I hate those eels.

And the camera's bad so you can't see them coming but you know they are

Absolutely water sections, even when not swimming (Emerald Weapon FF7).

The biggest one though, the one that made me stop playing a game altogether, is the Dark Sun from Disgaea 2...no I am certainly NOT posting a pic! Go find it yourself and crap your own pants!

The moment that made me never START playing a game was the beginning of Ecco the Dolphin:

Game: "We'll start with you learning to come out of the water for air. That's it, easy does it. This is nice huh? Pretty graphics, nice music, cute little dolphi- ALIENS!! EVERYTHING GOES NUTS!! YOUR FAMILY GETS KIDNAPPED!! FLASHING RED SCREEN!! ....ok, so first you need to head right-"

Me: *Rips cartridge from console and survives heart attack*

I'm always surprised to hear other people say water sections cause no one I know IRL has the same problem. Also the problem is normally whenever I pan the camera up and see just how empty and vast certain areas are (Shadow of the Colossus's water enemies [even the bird one] scared the crap out of me more than anything else).

Redeads. Fuck those things.
Cazadores terrify me in a different way. Redeads make me freaked out to even see them, but with cazadores I only freak out if they realize I'm there and start chasing towards me.

The clickity-clack noises from zombie dogs in the old Resident Evil games. The ones that are always off camera and come charging your way...and you don't know which way they're coming half the time, or when they're in range for your limited ammo filled piece of shit gun.

Also, the lickers from those same games. Always dropping down from the ceiling and giving me heart attacks. Fuck those things.

Edit: Forgot to mention heights. If I know I can just pull a parachute out of my ass like in GTA or Saints Row, I'm fine. But sections like the Radio Tower in the new Tomb Raider? I get hit with vertigo every single time.

Wandering through the dark sewers in Star Wars Dark Forces, and turning to see one of these things up in your face just as your torch dies... http://www.operatorchan.org/vg/src/136574880924.png

I got past the thing in the jail cell, the thing that suddenly crashes through solid concrete and attacks you without warning. I was more startled than actually scared, but I can't bring myself to go through the sewer part the little guy taunts you about - if something breaking through a jail cell unnerves me, then God knows what anything down there was going to do.

Fucking Berserkers in Gears of War. They hunt you via sound, that in itself being kinda creepy, you can't kill them by traditional means, once they hear you they charge towards your position making this scary ass high pitched roaring sound, and if you're not quick enough, you get trampled and die.

It's absolutely nerve wracking fighting those things. >_<

Comstock's House is creepy place, no thanks to these guys, but they didn't really scare me, until after a cutscene, when one of them comes from behind you out of nowhere, scaring the shit out of me

Eh, I just shot those guys and later learned it was a stealth section.

That bit where they spawn in one behind you after a voxophone session was just fucking dumb. Not real horror, just a cheap jump scare.
I don't think the jump scare works if you shoot them. First time I played through on Medium I didn't even notice it. Next two times on 1999 mode I nearly hit the ceiling. I think sneaking about just winds you up.

It was still a "I'M RIGHT BEHIND YOU" for me, because I didn't turn around before the tear appeared.

But yeah. Slight jump, then several shots to the face.
In my game, I was half on auto-pilot, eyelids low, it was getting late and I was playing the game straight through in one sitting. Not to mention he wasn't just standing there, for some reason he was already spewing red light from his mouth. I scrambled to hit the pause button and kind of just went UGH! and scared my dog off my lap. I laughed for a minute then shot him in the face.
EDIT: ...the BoS, not my dog.

OT: Anything that is invincible. And that chases me. If you can't kill something, even with a large weapon, it becomes very intimidating. I kind of get that "DON'T LET IT TOUCH ME!" kind of feeling if it's chasing me.

I'm being boring and agreeing with everybody else, water. Any body of dark/deep water scares the hell out of me and will make me thing about continuing the game.
