Things in movies that you only notice after repeated viewings that change your view of the movie?

This is a very specific thread for a very specific subject. The question is.... what are some things about movies that you've watched that you only ever notice the second or third time viewing it (repetition FTW). This can be subtle visual things that you didn't notice, or certain sumbliminal stuff in the plot that you didn't notice or even just things about a character in the movie that you hadn't noticed before. Whatever it is it must have impacted the way you see the movie in some way.
I will again use Little Children, the movie about the adulterous affair, to mind. The first time viewing I actually had sympathy for Kate Winslet's character Sarah Pearce, thinking she was in a lousy marriage and was desperate for happiness and that eventually she develops an attraction to another married man and an affair begins. All the while I was sympathetic to her and supporting her in what she was doing.
BUT THEN
The second time watching it was when I first noticed how horrible she was to her three year old daughter, I also noticed how she had no qualms with sleeping with a married man, she also made some bullshit excuse up for femenism which I refused to believe... I suddenly saw her in a different light, a very bitchy and manipulative light.

That's my pick, what's an example for you?

Ooh, now there's a thinker...

Only thing is, I haven't watched any movies in a recent enough time to really think of anything. Something may come to me eventually, though.

It's usually information about the plot that I don't notice the first time through.

Years ago, I rented Gladiator and thought it was a horribly overrated and BOOORING excuse for a movie. About a year later, I re-watched it, and once again I stopped halfway through out of boredom. I rented it AGAIN, and felt the same way. BUT, after a 5 year break, I rented it last weekend and absolutely loved it, my only complaint is that I wish the fights lasted longer. I couldn't believe how I found this movie boring.

At first, I thought The Matrix was a shoot-em-up only.
Then I saw it as a philosophy-fest.
Then I saw it as a philosophy-fest, with guns and explosions.

What do you mean, attack of the clones or Empire Strikes back?

I guess Reservoir Dogs and Jin-Roh are ones that, while I thought they were good (or "meh" in the case of Reservoir Dogs) the first time, have really grown on me over the years.

Witch Hunter Robin is an anime series that I watched once a while ago and thought was okay. Later, however, I found myself thinking about various moments in the series from time to time. I watched it again, and now think it's actually really, really good. Sure, it's anime X-Files, but what's wrong with that? X-Files was great (for a while), and this is basically just that with better music and a more contained story.

I do believe you see in Revenge of the Sith. They say it is the YT-1300 light frieghter that became the Millennium Falcon after it became a YT-1300f/YT-1300p hybrid.

I noticed the second time in the Matrix, that Neo doesn't change his expression AT. ALL.

actually with Reservoir Dogs, a lot of people don't realize that everyone dies in the movie, after the end when Mr Pink runs out the door, turn up the sound

for me one that really comes to mind is The Phantom Menace and how much Qi-Jon uses the Jedi mind trick when he asks for something. first time around i didn't notice but i did after and it made me laugh

In the TV series Fringe in ep. 16 you can see that before opening the omlet with the ear inside the omlet has fingers stiking out of it, so I thinck that originaly there was an arm in the omlet. (This TV series rock by the way)

Constantine.
The first time I watched it I thought it was great, then I rented it and had to stop within ten minutes.
Also, and don't mock me for this, I liked Transformers the first time I saw it. I am now fully aware how wrong I was. I think it was because I saw it in the cinema the first time the over use of disturbingly fast fight scenes drew me in. It lost something on the smaller screen.

When I was little I didn't realise that the Back to the Future series were comedies. It was only when I was about 15 and watched them all again (I used to watch them all the time when I was younger) that I realised.

Nah, I just assumed that about Reservoir Dogs. It's that kind of movie.

I didn't notice the still frame in a certain scene of Fight Club until the second viewing, however.
