Although you can't really do anything about it, normally the attractive woman lives through the movies, and maybe the handsome man that loves her (though that's about 50/50 really). But here's something that you can do: When dealing with a killer that uses traps, have everyone else do things while you lie on the ground in an area that won't get you killed. I've seen more then one movie where someone set off the trap, and it activated somewhere else and killed another person.

Got a good collection of these when a friend and I shared a digital torso for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. We talked about making it a drinking game, but we agreed that the end result would probably be alcohol poisoning.
If really weird shit is going on and you call the cops, don't tell them that weird shit is going on. They'll just think you're a prank caller. Instead, just say that there are a couple of guys with guns running about. The cops can figure it out when they get there.
Never act arrogant. EVER. Even if you've bludgeoned the bad guy until his brains are showing, DO NOT say a word to the body.

Don't laugh. As soon as someone laughs, WHAM! they get a claw/knife/hammer/etc. through the face. Even if the situation seems under control, dont give that nervous laugh of relief.
Um, can I just point out reading the "Zombie Survival Handbook" by Max Brooks. Thanks to that book, I am now fully prepared in the case of a Zombie outbreak. Also, there's another book out there about how to know a survive being in a horror movie...don't know why they're both in the "Comedy" section of the bookstores though.
OT: If you know that all your friends were killed by some psycho in this area, and you have the choice between leaving or going back to save a friend, I would recommend leaving. I know, that's not the loyal thing to do but, besides the exceptions of my wife, daughter, or other REALLY close family member...that's probably what I'd do. And then comeback with some serious firepower to seek revenge and save the survivors. In my defense, I would want them to do the same thing if it was the other way around...except don't come back for me. I wouldn't want to know they died trying to save my butt.
