So, we've all got those things we hear from time to time that just really annoy the hell out of us. What are yours?

My examples are when people say "Southern Ireland" instead of "Republic of Ireland" because there's no such place as "Southern Ireland", it doesn't exist.

Apart from that, people saying that Ireland is part of the UK are just asking to be corrected, and possibly shouted at for their ignorance.

"X proves that Y", i.e., My kid played a violent video game, he then proceeded to hit me over the head with an axe. That proves that video games cause axe related violence.

People can't seem to tell the difference between correlation and causation.

People either going "CONSOLES ARE FOR TARDS" or "PC GAMERS ARE ELITISTS".
Seriously, why can't we all get along?

It bugs me when people add words to the end of acronyms that are already in the acronym. Like PIN number, or ATM machine, etc.

The best one of those is "UCD Dublin", as UCD stands for "University College, Dublin".

It's on their crest, I believe.

Wow...I just....wow. I have no words for this...that's, like, failing to the Nth degree there. Thank you for this, I needed a good laugh (and a great example for future use!).

A lot of things to be honest. I'm going to go with an oldie, but a goodie. Irony. Look it up people. Irony doesn't mean that it is funny. Look that person fell over...how ironic. No. No it isn't. I have a friend who is a teacher and they said on Facebook, "I'm going down to Wellington for a few days then flying to Sydney. How ironic." How the hell is that ironic? I do worry about our education system.

That's my rant.

Oh one more thing. I know it isn't literally being said, but people who type /thread really annoy me. I know it's stupid but the sheer arrogance to think that you are the supreme master of a thread annoys me. Especially if you do it to your own post.

It's the place that isn't Northern Ireland. Intuitive, see? But I like it because if R.O.I is Southern Ireland, then technically the most northern point of the country is in southern Ireland.

But yeah, lumping us in with the UK is certainly annoying.

Could of.
Aaaaaaaaaarrrrgh!! Raaaaaaaaaage!!
This pisses me off more than the existence of chavs! How in hell do people think that 'could of' is correct grammar?! It's 'could have' or 'could've'. 'Could of'?! Seriously?!

...Christ, I have some stupid friends

People who make straw-man arguments and then expect the points they made against the straw-man to be valid arguments to what I said, despite the fact that I said none of the things he debated against.

I also don't like the idea of policing speech to preserve people's feelings.

EDIT: People who think "Alot" is an English word. It isn't

No *****, it's my argument, so unless you refute it it's the universal truth.
LOL!!!!!!!
When people say LOL, that annoys me. Especially when said out loud, as if it were a monosyllabic word.

Also, increasingly whilst online, people who confuse 'loose' and 'lose'.

When losing an argument, my friend usually starts repeating "At the end of the day, *snip pointless statement I've already refuted*"

What? At the end of the day, you get friggin' night. What has the price of bread got to do with anything?

OH YOU MUST BE HATIN LOIFE.

Some people do in fact, hate life and it isn't because they left something behind and have to spend 5 minutes finding it. I get a bit annoyed at that, and I have a similar thing with the word depressed, I would only use it to describe someone diagnosed with depression, along with use of 'raped' to describe someone losing. Again, some find that very offensive and I'd rather you didn't say that.

Oh, that nice Byrne boy and his clever trousers. That was an awesome video.

ON TOPIC: People who say "that's so funny" instead of just laughing. Yes dummy, I know it was funny, that's why I'm laughing at it. YOU DON'T NEED TO TELL ME.

Yeah, I get pretty annoyed at people saying "Oh I totally raped that guy in a video game yesterday" because of what happened to one of my friends.

Generally people who know me even reasonably well will know not to say it, but some are still idiotic enough.
