My IRL friends are all at that age where we fell like leaves in the wind and have spread to the far corners of the country... the think I dislike about them is that it is difficult, and not often that we get together like old times!

That was my friends from home... the problem with my RAF friends is that we all move every 2 years at least, so we don't get to spend long together... and not many have similar interests as me... Not many into games or movies like I am... and most certainly none into comics, cartoons or lego!

I love my friends, they're awesome and crazy and completely different to most other people I've ever met, but I find it really depressing that I really don't think most of them will end up doing very much. There's about eighteen of us, of that, only four went to university this year. I have a horrible feeling that most of them are going to be sat around getting stoned for the rest of their lives.

A lot of my friends take ages to text back, which is really frustrating :/ I've generally already made other plans by the time they respond to my texts.

The feller whom I've known the longest acts completely different around me than he does around other people.

It makes me unsure as to which is the real one and which one isn't.

There are plenty more qualities in me that are unpleasant though.

They are obsessed with alcohol, every single one of them. And I am a teetotaler. Life sucks.

I honestly can't think of anything. I have plenty of friendly acquaintances who have habits that annoy me a bit, but in my closest circle of four best friends, I really can't think of anything they do that annoys me. Maybe I just like them so much that the effects of things they do that would normally annoy me are lessened, or maybe there really isn't anything they do that bothers me. I'm not sure. Either way, I can' think of a damn thing. Realizing this has actually cheered me up quite a bit :)

That was one of the best posts I've ever read on these forums.

I'm not sure if tabletop games that exist as you described really exist or if you're just completely making it all up, but man, you should be a salesman for Wizards of the Coast or something.
well, when described, it always sounds a bit different, but everything i mentioned did happen in the game in our first campaign, and it has only gotten more grimdark from there.

anyway, im glad you found my rant entertaining, though i get the feeling ranting as a sales pitch won't go over well for trying to advertise a game that is so absolutely open to interpretation, where literally anything you want can happen.

this is one of my favorite things about regular ol' telephone calls. if/when they pick up, you get things laid out right then and there like they are in the same room. Very efficient.

nothing against texting, i just dont like how it seems to have phased out regular phone calls. Not just from an efficiency standpoint, but from the fact that it's nice to hear someone's voice, and because texting is so mainstream nowadays, it seems nobody ever answers the phone anymore.

except for my group of buddies. they always pick up when the phone is near. its great. but there have been a good few times where i would call someone, and then they would send me a text in response. no, i dont want to text, i want to talk. is that too much to ask in 99% of situations? (because if they are in a place where it is too loud to hear, or in class or something, i can understand not wanting to use a telephone)

Thinks they're dark and mysterious? Like the other 5000000 of his kind? I know the type. Write's fanfics?

Some of them thinks it perfectly reasonable for me to silently listen to them talking about any little thing that happened to them.

God damn it people, I DON'T CARE.

Not to say anything, but as far as I am concerned:
Until he stops writing fanfiction and starts writing strictly original material, he can say goodbye to being dark and mysterious.

The guy who doesn't realize his so-called "sardonic sense of humor" often manifests itself in smug and mean-spirited ways that aren't amusing anyone other than him.

(And he wonders- at length- why he can't keep a girlfriend for more than a couple of months...!)

My best bud is rather depressed, and often gives up on games because he thinks he "sucks at them." This sometimes happens when we're playing together, and it stinks because he no longer has any fun with it.
He also says that marching band is a waste of time, although he has regrets about not joining it. I believe that's where the problem lies.

I also have some friends who are entirely obsessed with Magic the Gathering after before-mentioned depressed friend introduced it to them. Like, buying $100 worth of Ravnica fat packs, building a couple decks, proxy-ing, spending hours working deck strategies and such. They're also fiercely competitive, and take the fun out of Magic, as there's no back-and-forth power struggle-just I PUT DOWN 8 6/6 CENTAUR TOKENS EACH TURN! D:

I have friends who are forty five minutes late to their own birthday party. That takes TALENT.

Beyond that, we generally don't annoy each other.

I feel your pain, being the fanfic editor is so much more satisfying when the friend in question doesn't try to be dark and mysterious. I've done it for two friends, one dark and one goofy. The dark one put out depressing crap about Aeris dying and Inception all being a dream of a dying man, the goofy one made me edit his (clean) Regina Spektor/Charles Mingus slash fiction he read to me with Microsoft Sam.

Guess which was more fun!

I have a friend who invites himself over to my room all the time
Like, he doesn't even think about it, he just texts "hey I'm coming over in like 30 minutes"
Or he phrases the question like I'd be a super bad person if I say no
He just ASSUMES that I spend every single waking moment wanting to hang out with him
And it pisses me the fuck off.

He's also pretty needy. He often texts "omg I haven't seen you in so long"
And I'm like... "we hung out two days ago"
"BUT THAT'S SO LONGGGG"

Don't get me wrong, we've been friends for years and I love him despite his faults but man he just really gets on my nerves sometimes

Yeah. and then I've got another friend who used to be a satanist, is a bassist in a heavy metal band, knows a guy who has 3 drug dealers living on his street (one of whom deals watered down Anthrax), has an ice-cream man who also sells weed and knows a guy who apparently got caught fondling his dogs testicles..... this is one guy, everyone

I'll raise you a friend who has several dealers, is a militant anarchist, regularly breaks down crying for no reason whatsoever and has a video of one of her friends doing it doggy style.
With his dog.
