I know this is a touchy subject for some people, so please for the love of the flying spaghetti monster don't flame and troll the crap out of this, but what has almost put you entirely off what would be your favorite movie/trilogy

For me, my favorite movies are the star wars trilogy(s) (not so much the most recent trilogy, obviously)

Number one for me is one word: Midichlorians
and number two is the "Digitally Remastered" versions of the original trilogy

Say what you will, Midichlorians were the most ridiculous cover up in the history of science fiction. The other problem is, it means that the force is simply a germ, rather than an all-powerful cosmic force. Lots of people know all the reasons, and there are plenty of articles on Cracked.com and similar sites on this topic, so I'm not even going to bother explaining it. Basically Lucas screwed up everyone's understanding of the force in one, over-simplifying swoop, and for this I will forever be irritated.

And for why the digitally remastered copy of the first trilogy iritates me, check this out:

I think the "These aren't the droids you're looking" for scene at 1:24 explains a fair chunk. If you want the really bad parts, just watch the remastered version of Return of the Jedi

well.. my favourite series is mass effect, and it is not yet destroyed. I do think that LOTR was destroyed in a way with too many endings.

I was quite enjoying Death Note, then they killed off the best character...and the only likeable character in the series considering they made the protaganist out to be a bit of a douche.

I stopped watching House after they started moving the disturbed romantic subplot to the fore, though I hear the last season picked up after 4 or 5 episodes.

I was really enjoying the Sword of Truth series right up to the point where it started going on and on about Objectivism (which I despise).

I was quite enjoying "Lost", until I realized that the writers had no idea what they were doing.

I've never understood the "midichlorian problem", how is a germ meant to cause the force? As someone who studies Biology at degree level this makes no sense what-so-ever and so in my opinion the "magic" of the force isn't diminished at-all.

The insertion of politics into like every TV show nowadays. I don't want to hear some stupid hack writers' opinions on gun control or abortion shoehorned into a crime drama.

Season 7 of the X Files. It's just so bad. I never watched it as a youngling, so my girlfriend (a former uber-fan who gave up around season 6) bought me the entire series on DVD last Christmas. I resolved to be a better fan than her, and to power on through bad episodes, but S7 just keeps hitting you with shitty acting, shitty plots, and general stupid shittiness. I keep telling myself that one day I'll go back and finish the series, but I really cannot force myself to sit through it anymore.

Buffy's resurrection at the start of season 6, too. I kept watching, and S6 had a couple of good episodes (plus it got much better in S7) but honestly the show should have died at the end of season 5 and gone out in a blaze of glory (not a pun, I swear to God - I like to think I'm above that :p)

The midichlorian argument is something I can't stand. It's implementation within the Star Wars universe doesn't make the force something scientific. It just means that it allows the force to come into certain individuals at a greater rate. It's still the exact same force as in the original trilogy.

Want to know what ruined the series? CGI and the ravedance with gigantic glowstick scenes. The fights should have been more like the originals. Name one fight in the PT that actually makes sense.

I would also nominate terrible acting.

Well, in fairness, a crime drama is probably a good place to discuss gun control, what with people getting shot with alarming frequency...

Scriptwriting, plotline, and basically not giving the actors an actual setting to act in. It's hard when you do it in a bluescreen. I blame the overall way it was done over the actors themselves. Not to mention Lucas aimed for a different generation and completely shunned the older fans.
