Have you seen anyone who genuinely dislikes Ocarina of Time? Not someone who's just trolling but honestly disliked the thing fairly? They're few and far between.
A buddy of mine actually likes Majora's Mask more. Does that count?

Of course my other friend sort of makes up for that in that he hates Majora's Mask and once played through all of Ocarina of Time with his eyes closed.

Indie-anythings.

I've never come across hate for an independent game, band/song or movie. They all seem remarkably praised for their artistic quality, individualism, deep personal meaning, structure, moral, intellectualism etc. etc.

Mass Effect.

I've yet to encounter anyone besides me who doesn't like that game.
Me, me! I dislike Bioware, Mass Effect especially.
... Why, exactly?
I hated ME1 for it's goddarn stupid AI, but ME2 was great.
Why Mass Effect especially? The storyline, the voice acting, the characters, the AI, the gameplay. Why Bioware as a whole? Their storylines, their voice acting, their characters, their AI and their gameplay. :D

Mass Effect just seems the biggest offender in their armoury of games to me. So far.
I....well.....then I guess I'd love a sample of what you like? Your list of why's would be exactly the same list of why I liked ME (both 1 and 2) so I need a frame of reference here to understand your tastes.

EDIT: I'll add Pixar to the list! I mean, I like some of their movies, but seriously, the stories they tell are about as exciting and predictable as watching two blind men duking it out in a UFC fighting arena.
Okaaaay. Bioshock, for example, I am enthralled by the story - both as told by the diaries, and the gameplay. The gameplay itself I very much enjoy, very basic idea made complex if you desire it; not to mention the moral decisions (no, the pay off was not as good as it could have been, but the game did a fair job of making you think about your actions). The AI was predictable, but certainly not frustrating, and the voice acting was superb - fitted both the genre and the era.

I also enjoy basic (non-realistic) FPSs, big fan of simulation games (becauseI'magirl), enjoy MMOs for their complex lore which you can choose to skip over if you want, you don't need to know any of it, it's just fun.

I simply do not enjoy RPGs, ME claimed to be an RPG of action and consequence, but it still, as all RPGs had a plot you were following - it just gave the illusion of choice. They play, to me, the way Choose Your Own Adventure books do. You might as well just read the pages in chronological order, because you're never going to get your own ending, you're only ever getting the ending they've chosen - but they'll let you pretend you wrote it.

You know what ELSE everybody likes? Parfaits! Have you ever met a person, you say, "Let's get some parfait," they say, "Hell no, I don't like no parfait"? Parfaits are delicious!

Cool, cool....I also thought Bioshock was an amazingly well done game, and have a better perspective on what it is about Mass Effect that you didn't like, and why. TO contrast, I love RPGs and I feel that RPGs with a storyline and consequence are quite enjoyable, but I would have to rank, say, Fallout 3 as one of my all time favorites because it managed to have an open-world sandbox design while still offering you storylines of depth and consequence (that you could ignore if you so desired). Mass Effect did so as well, although ultimately it had a narrower focus and the open elements were loaded in the middle of the game and not really essential to the main story; ME ended up being very immersive for me because I enjoyed that story, but it was much more linear than Fallout 3.

One neat thing about Bioshock was that it managed to feel open world and exploratory while being on rails, in such a way that it was never specifically evident, because your choice of actions inevitably took you where the story wanted you to go. I guess that's one big difference between ME and Bioshock....in ME you look for segments of the story and string them together. In Bioshock, the story bits lie around waiting to be discovered at more or less your own pace. Both are pretty linear games, but they accomplish the same thing in different ways.

As for MMORPGs.....well, I wish they actually did try harder with their storylines. I love the first 20 or so levels in Age of Conan, for example, which really sets up a great story to be followed, then all but drops it in favor of generic quest grinding and pvp nonsense. But I suppose MMOs do let you play the way you want.....they just feel very hollow to me most of the time.

I f*cking hate parfaits. I don't mean to belittle your post by any means, it actually made me laugh even, but I just felt the need to respond. Maybe I should rephrase that more to "I f*cking hate the parfaits I've tried." because it's not like I've had every parfait on the planet. But seeing as how I hate yogurt and fruit and that is what has been in the parfaits I've tried...

OT: I haven't seen any hate on Little Big Planet (1 or 2). I can't say I hate it either as it's just not my type of game, I just don't like it.

I've tried a number of times to try to like it, but I just can't.
That is pretty much how I feel about it, same with TF2.

OT: TF2.

Minecraft. Sure, I've seen people who are 'meh' about it, but never an actual hater.
This is very true, and I'm probably one of the only people on the internet who didn't like it.

Also, unrelated, but I first read you being on probation as "User was put on probation for: Enjoying Final Fantasy 13". I laughed a little too hard.

OT: Monty Python, Arrested Development, Alien(s), Predator, Futurama...you get the idea. Also, what is it with people who keep saying Mass Effect? Those games get a massive amount of hate, hell, just the sheer amount of people saying that they don't like Mass Effect in this thread alone isn't horribly surprising. Same thing with any popular game, really.

I feel like Apple doesn't get enough hate for their Macs. Sure the iphone is cool and I would accept one if it was free, but with the macs they're really just selling a $600 computer for up to 1 or 2 grand. but people support it for that trendy little glowing apple.
They do look sleek and minimalistic so I guess that's the appeal?

I may be preaching to the choir complaining about apple to tech-minded people at escapist.

Fuck the Beatles. Yeah, I said it. I'm sure they were influential, but that doesn't make them good.

Haven't seen much hate for Portal.
