I know most of you don't like baseball, and that's ok because that?s not just what this threads about so bear with me.

Ok, so today, my favorite baseball team traded the guy who was basically the face of the franchise for the last 11 years. We all knew this player was getting older and that he would either leave to go play for another team after his contract expired this year, or he would retire having played his entire career in America with the team he started out on. Of course I had prepared myself for this eventuality, and yet, I found myself very upset for the majority of the evening. For those of you who don't follow baseball (as I'm willing to bet those who do already know exactly what I'm talking about) the team which I support is the Seattle Mariners and the player in question is Ichiro Suzuki, who had played for the Mariners since 2001. You may think that I'm a bit of a loser to have gotten so bent out of shape over a baseball player, but you have to understand that Ichiro was always a bright spot on a less than brilliant team, so to see him go is like... well I don't know what it?s like, but I know that his being traded upset me.

So having shared that, I'm curious about what sort of small seemingly insignificant events (or just things that happen in your life) have had a bigger impact than you thought they would or should have had? They don't have to be in relation to a sports team or player, in fact they don't even have to be sad things, just things that you never expected to affect you in the way or the intensity with which it affected you.

On an unrelated note, are there any baseball fans on the escapist? I kind of want to see about starting a group to discuss baseball, but don't know if there are many other fans on here
