We all have something that soothes us. For some of us it's cats. For others it's tea.

For me, it's this video about the Amen Break.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SaFTm2bcac

Someone feel free to embed that bad boy.

You know the Amen Break. You may not know you know it, but you do.

I'd known about the Amen Break long before watching the video but I'd never known its history. The monotone it's presented in combined with the material being discussed is pure auditory heaven for me.

What out of the norm thing does it for you?

People speaking softly, people caressing hair or skin (bonus point if I'm that person), the sound of a muted electric guitar having its strings plucked by a musician with headphones.

When you have ASMR (or whatever you choose to call it), quite a few different things tend to soothe you.

Books.
Like, just having a book nearby soothes and comforts me.
Whenever I go out, I go out with a book clutched to my chest. That's if I'm not reading it whilst walking.
If I don't have a book to hold to my chest, I feel really awkward and don't know what to do with that hand.

The ending theme to the anime show Noir. That song just instantly takes me to a peaceful place mentally.

Also, toys. Action figures, legos, anything like that. I'm a full-grown adult, but building with legos or playing around with star wars figures is like the most relaxing thing. I actually keep a minifigure in my pocket as a good luck charm (and it's small enough so no one ever asks 'is that a ____ in your pocket or are you just happy to see me).

Looking up at the stars on a cold night. Even for just a few seconds, but glancing up at the sky, and seeing the pinpoints of light, possibly with the moon as well, just let's a wave of calm wash over me. It works in other seasons as well, but winter especially hits me. That cold air, and clear sky combination is just a balm for my spirit.

The sound of drums, the screams of women, men and children, the smell of fresh blood, burning flesh, leather and wood and the feeling of cold steel in my hand.

Seriously though: Sometimes weirdly enough throbbing basses and dissonant music. Not always, mind you. But sometimes music you would expect to pump you up just calms me and even makes me sleepy. I've even had schranz doing that.
Something more reliable: Deep, somewhat monotone male voices with a constant flow of speech. This was somewhat unhelpful during my days at university as some professors' voices just made me sleepy, even though the content was really interesting.

Pretty boring, but rain. If it's raining outside and I'm inside, I feel strangely content with...basically everything. Bonus points if it's at night.

I also like seeing a red sky and sunrise. Both mellow me out, but I can't really say why.

Yes...

If I'm feeling down or depressed, ultra violence helps me a bit. Things like the film, Punisher: War Zone have actually broken me out of a depression before which was pretty unprecedented at the time I was experiencing that particular low. Hotline Miami may be my next happy-pill.

I don't know how many time I have conked out listening to Metal.

For me its the sense of flying, I love to relax in games with a free flight mode or just mess around doing aerial acrobatics. Even if its a combat game, the fact that I'm flying around makes it soothing.

Cats aren't inexplicable. I can cite plenty of reasons. They're cute and fuzzy, warm and affectionate, and have been proven to have a healthy effect on other beings through the power of positive purring.

People like things for reasons they don't understand immediately, but I feel they're there.

Deciding to play an AFK farm character in League. If i'm feeling a bit stressed, i'll just pick Nasus in Team Builder and be Nasus about the situation. Start Cloth Armour + 4HP and 1 mana potion, ignore everything the guy is trying to do to you and last hit with Q above all else. The trick is to not care about taking harass, you have free fuckin' lifesteal that procs on Q, some broken ass shit right there. Also for someone whose gimmick is farming until he becomes a monster, he can hold his own in 1v1s pre level 6, unless y'know Riven is in the game in all her puppy kicking "I used all my abilities to get on top of you so only the third jump + ministun hit you but I still do bullshit damage anyway" glory.

"NASUS WHY WEREN'T YOU IN THAT TEAMFIGHT?!"

"I need my stacks though, chill i'll 1v5 after 50 minutes"

Plot twist: Nasus never arrived to the next 5 teamfights and instead pushed top relentlessly. Maybe he arrived to last hit Baron because it's only a short walk back to his beloved stacks.

I even have music on repeat to help me on it.

15/20 minute Triforce boys, let's go.

Rain? I love just standing out in the rain. The sound, the feeling, I just enjoy it. No idea why. Most would think I'm a nut for wanting to stand outside and freeze to death in the rain here. But I just find it calming.

The Hyper Light Drifter trailer mainly the themetune in it

No this in't a exuse to post the video/ mention the game again. I really do find that music so smoothing. Seriously the tone and the melody has that really great beat to it! I suppose combine that and my hype toward it does soothe me with excitement!

I habitually rub cloth between my fingers. Never knew why; just something I've always done. Apparently it's some form of OCD. Whatever it may be, it's always been extremely soothing.

Whiskey.
Good ol' fashioned drugs should count, right? So yeah, whiskey.
That and good music, preferably a combination of the two.

Listening to the rain is kinda like heaven too, especially if you've just woken up. Could spend hours lying there like that.
