I'm not a PC elitest? Almost every thread boils down to "PC IZ BETTER" and so on when talking about nearly any game. So nothing constructive gets done and it wrecks the thread. Awesome stuff, espically when gaming is being judged by the world every five mins for some new contravsial thing.

I guess that I also like some games which the majority don't and I think that critical miss is awful. I also don't worship the ground yahtzee treads, since he is just a comdian.

There is not necessarily an 'Escapist Forum User' stereotype, though there does seem to be some common interests or ideas.

Valve is an often liked developer.

Metal seems to be enjoyed by many users.

Cult classic games are often well known around here.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force fans abound. Huzzah!

However, this does not mean that the majority of Escapist users share these interests.

It simply means that in my frequent visits to the forums, I've noticed many people speak of them.

I wasnt aware there WAS a 'Scapist stereotype.

Does that ironically set me apart from the stereotype? That might be nice.

I think this stereotype was invented by the OP... I've seen a pretty diverse set of opinions, (professed)lifestyles and tastes here.

I don't mind Gamestop too much

I find dual analog to be the most comfy way to play every game except strategy and some others

You guys?
Well, first, I'd have to know what the stereotype is. While there are an almost intimidating amount of atheists on here (That was a joke, they're not intimidating, but there are a lot more than I would peg.) I think just about everyone on here is pretty unique, for better or for worse.

After all, we're all snowflakes. :D

I like halo, don't play half-life games, haven't played a non MMO, non browser-based PC game since the old Delta Force games (Great games, by the way), I'm perfectly fine with the Wii as-is, I, up until now, mainly played my DS, I like JRPGs, I frequently play iPod Touch games, and I believe that no one console is better than the others and that they all have their advantages and disadvantages (Less dipshits on Nintendo Wi-Fi, but no voice chat, more dipshits on Xbox Live, and better voice chat, and the PS3 is kinda balanced out on that one, to give an example)

I like the Halo, Half life and Call of Duty series's equily good.
I have Trivium, Green Day, Short Stack, Fall out Boy, Laibach and Muse on the same MP3 player.
I also own a MP3 player, not an Ipod.

I'm not a troll
I like the Metal Gear Solid series
I'm religious AND highly intelligent(I can feel the trolls lurking)
EDIT: AND I think all the consoles have equal validity with slight tweaking towards specific demographics.

I have not lost faith in humanity.

I liked MW2, both single and multiplayer.

I'm not a Grammar or Searchbar Nazi.

I am not a huge fan of anime or manga.

I don't hate things.

I think Halo is a pretty cool dude.

Other than that I don't think I go against the Escapist stereotype. I'm atheist, male, an avid gamer, and I'm a bit elitist. Then of course I don't even fully realize what the "Escapist Stereotype" is. It has something to do with the subjects I mentioned but beyond that, I have no idea.

Anyways, since when did ANYONE not like Dual Analog? It's the second coming of Christ D:

I am a PC and console gamer but think that Consoles > PC every time, especially in controls.
I don't own a PS3, I have a 360, but I think PS3 > 360

Michael bay in a nutshell, he it DAMN good at what he does...

...If he made a movie this insane.

OT- There is no escapist stereotype. Really. I have been here for ages and even when i dont post in months, i at least log in 3 times a week. The demographic shifts constantly, with new people re-shaping the escapist. The ones who cause the greatest effect are often loved, followed and then banned for their reckless (and often foul) behavior.

What sets me apart?
I dunno... I have a way of turning low content posts into high content posts without contributing as I actually contribute.

Escapist Steryotype? .-. There's no steryotype.
General opinions aren't steryotypes.
The Escapist Stereotype

Well one could say we are a bunch of pretentious leftist elitists that like to think we're better then the rest of the internet and spend all of our time misinterpreting each other like the rest of the web, but unlike them we try to make our stupid comments sound smart so we make up crap like;
'Well that's my opinion and it isn't going to change.'(I'm a stubborn bigot who doesn't know what opinion means.)
'I'm appalled that some people can't *blank*' (I disagree with you, but instead of using logic I decided to make your argument seem politically incorrect.)
'Political Correctness is a travesty!' (It's cool to be above those sensitive people, because they just don't understand.)
'Video games aren't bad for you!' (I'm only regurgitating what I've told myself and what videoame news sites have told me because I can't bother to research it, but I'm still better then people who watch Fox news because I'm right!)
'I don't have to explain myself to you.' (I didn't want to add to the discussion but I still wanted to post my opinion, even though the OP states specifically that he wants to know why people think that way.)
