I've recently been playing Mafia 2 on and off. I started the game and went straight for the hardest difficulty setting. I've had a blast with the game, I love the cover system, the story, I even love the simulation style driving when I'm not trying to get something done. It's just a great game. Anyways, I've been playing through most of the game using nothing but a pistol and a tommy gun if I can get it, with the occasional shotgun. I've spent most of the game with those 3 weapons.

So i'm nearing the end of the game and decided I'd rob a gun store for once make some cash get some guns. So I drove to the nearest one, killed the old man and decided to use the telephone (accident.) The cops showed up and I took cover, the action button then read "Steal M1 Garand." ...Since I've stolen this M1, I have been an unstoppable force of death. The game has been entirely too easy. I know i'm a good shot and all, but wow. I feel like the game just broke to pieces..

Anyone else have any stories of things in a game that seem really reasonable and should not break the game, but they do for you?

When The Witcher first came out, you couldn't run through bushes and hedges and such. And while I know that this is completely reasonable in some situations, it made me give up on the game and not pick it up until they had "fixed" it. Of course there were numerous other bugs at the time as well, but running through a field having my character stop every other second, because he ran into a 'herb plant' seriously pissed me off!

My friend set my horse on fire and threw dynamite at me on Red Dead Redemption. It crashed my Xbox. :/

I'm not sure that's exactly what you meant by 'things that shouldn't break games', but still.

I normally just skip the M1 in favour of the *next rifle up's name* if enemies are far away. The fact that it fires so quickly but with so few bullets means I spam it like a Tommy gun and then get caught-out whilst reloading.

And I just had an answer for the topic but I've forgotten it.

haha that game does have a shit ton of shit on the ground....shit if you didn't keep exactly to the path like they had put on the ground you'd be screwed (which the paths they put on the ground are so fucking curvey and bullshit, it takes 2x as long to get anywhere in that game with their maps)

most long distance weapons.

alot of times there are tons of bosses/strong monsters or people, who easily could own the fuck out of you, as they are extremely OP, but who you can pick at from long distance piece by piece, wether thats on top of a hill they can't reach or behind a odd rock formation that the AI doesn't quite recognize, just sititng there spamming long distance magic or archer/sniper, its quite unfair =\

(i have done it sometimes..as i dont realize i run into these bosses and stumble upon this method usually..) but still..its broken.

Commando! Yeah, never saw that one coming, huh? It turned the game into a knife fest instead of a shooter.

Fallout 3: operation anchorage can completely break the game if you have the chinese stealth suit and the silent running perk. you are effectively invisible & undetectable

Completely agree it's just plain cheap, that along with the One Man Army, Danger Close and Noob Tubes/Rockets which will forever go down as the "I'm a cheap piece of shit who can't shoot" Class

At least they've taken it out of black ops along with stopping power

HMMmmm, you see as nice as it is that they took that out I actually do like using Stopping Power, I guess you gotta take the good with the bad but thanks for letting me know and taking Stopping out will make your gun choice matter more
