I'm actually in quite a bad mood. Just had a post-pub Mario Kart Wii sesh and kept losing because of frickin' blue shells! I'd build up a massive lead for the first half of the race and then get bombarded by the homing buggers! In one case I was hit THREE times in a single lap!

To my mind, this ruins the game and should certainly have an option to turn it off.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any other oh-my-christ-what-were-they-thinking(?) features in games.

Giving the right analog stick to melee combat, ultimately giving you an uncontrollable camera that seems to be determined to kill you. I'm looking at you Too Human.

When they take a perfectly good game based on realism, or roughly on realism, then all of a sudden out comes some supernatural ancient demon cult hell bent on raping the universe very ungently and it's up to you to save them. I mean saving the world from the supernatural is cool and all, but I just hate it when all of a sudden it's the point of the game. So many games I happen to be enjoying do that.

Host shotgun in Gears.(1,2) It literally makes ranked games unbalanced making the host's powerweapon even more powerful. Freaking hate it.

Almost impossible trophies, Killzone 2 complete the game without dieing, i'm pretty sure its complete the whole game not just a level. WTF that is almost impossible.

RPGs were they require you to be killed by certain bosses to progress the story.

A crappy story and not fun gameplay would ruin a game for me.

a lack of humor can ruin a game for me. despite if the game is based on gritty realism its nice to have at least one good laugh

Retarded people when playing multiplayer.
I'm not talking about the newbie who just has to learn the game.
I'm talking about the loudmouth n00b who refuses to take advice, and blame all his mistakes on you beeing über gay.
The guy who gets angry when he fails and get pwned for the 35713^10 time and decides that the best way to vent his anger is to purposely feed the opposing team (DotA) or who figures that when you can't hit the enemies you might as well shoot your friends (most shooters).
The guy who just can't cope with the fact that he's not the über-schnitzel of the match/server, and can't take that everyone is not bowing in front of him, begging for a chance to suck his genitals.

Sometimes i wish i could make peoples monitors blow up in their face.

If the game has hip hop or rap music in it that you don't turn on yourself, I immediately take the game, put it in a blender, and feed it to an eight year old xbox fanboy.

I'd have to go with rail-shooting sections unless it's very-very well done and Dom's subplot ruined gears 2 along with the introduction of pointless characters like Tai and Dizzy. The only character I didn't laugh at when he or she died was Anthony Carmine.

Lack of story. I find the story very important. And complex gameplay. It needs to be not too simple but not too much mucking around.

Anything that ruins the fun! It could be anything like sucky gameplay, bad controls that you can't mod, tacked on gameplay elements that add nothing but fustration, for example.
