Dragon's Dogma, a fantastic rpg title that suffered in popularity due to poor marketing, a terrible release date and a couple of terrible reviews obviously given by people who didn't play more than an hour.

Strength training.

Aside from that, I always really liked the Mothman Prophecies, but it never really got a lot of love from anyone except Sterling.

I also like womens bellies:3

9 hours,9 persons, 9 doors and it's follow up Zero escape: virtues last reward. both are pretty amazing games and anyone i know that has played them seems to think so too but so few people seem to talk about them one way or another.

Experimental art work in general. Most people really seem unwilling to try different things. We need more ambitious work, dammit!

I find Lucy the daughter of the devil to be fairly underrated, and yet I think it is quite funny and insightful. I think the reason why a lot of my friends may not have heard of it is because it only went on for one season, but I really enjoyed it.

Oh, Anthrax definitely. People rave and rave about Metallica and Slayer are Slayer, but Anthrax tend to be the least renowned of the Big Four. They have so many massive riffs and they're so much less grumpy than the others, I find them very hard not to love. I will never understand how Megadeth, who are horribly uninspiring are that much bigger.

I see the Dead Space games, and Dead Space 2 especially, criticized a lot for not being as scary as something like Silent Hill or Amnesia or whatever. And they're right; it isn't as scary as those games. But it's still a fantastic action game, with fun and satisfying gameplay, beautiful visuals, and a lot of replay value. In fact, Dead Space 2 is probably the one game I've replayed more than any other.

I won't defend Dead Space 3, though. I mean, I like the weapon crafting and resource scavenging systems, but then it's got the human enemies, and co-op, and cover-based shooting, and, just, bleugh.
I actually really liked Dead Space 3, possibly because it was my first Dead Space game. The crafting is especially fun.

Dead Space 1 is a horrible horrible port on PC, and I could never bring myself to buy Dead Space 2 because of the DRM(not just because it's horrible, since I could just crack it after buying, but also because I'm voting with my wallet against the practice), nor could I bring myself to pirate it just to avoid the DRM. So basically I'm never going to play it.

Pff... Anthrax. My most underrated 80s metal band award goes to W.A.S.P. Heck their newer albums rock. I'm a big fan of Dying for the world, and Dominator, from 2002 and 2007 respectively.

Which reminds me, there's a few albums of theirs I haven't even listened to yet... I need to get around to that.

Underrated - Everything I like

Overrated - Everything I don't like.

Nah, I just get pissy about all the under/overrated discussion.

To be honest, it always seems that games which receive that bad start usually get around by word of mouth a few years later (Nier comes to mind for some reason...); not that that really helps the developers that much at that point, but at least it gets played.

P.S. Pretty much everything I've said here can also be applied to Shadows of the Damned.
Really?

Well, I have to admit that I'm sceptical of Suda51 games - even Killer7, but then again I have been playing the not fantastic PS2 port - but I'd like to see you expand on this. Because I want to play as a man named Garcia Hotspur.

Shadows benefits heavily from having Shinji Mikami on-staff to steer the gameplay side of things. If you enjoyed Resident Evil 4 then you should enjoy Shadows of the Damned's gunplay because it handles pretty much exactly the same; albeit with a lot more ridiculous weapons which use teeth for ammo.

There's also a lot of really wonderful art direction going on, especially in a couple of scrolling shoot-em-up sections that are done with little cut-outs and even though a lot of people were distinctly meh about the soundtrack, I personally think it builds a great atmosphere.

The story might not be your cup of tea, but I found it refreshing to play a game that didn't take itself seriously in the slightest, and there's a lot of neat little touches like being given the boss's backstories in the form of immensely macabre storybooks; read aloud by your gun, Johnson.

I can't think of much else to get you onboard, but since you can probably pick it up for under ten bucks these days, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go; it's probably the least Suda Suda game I've played, so don't let his involvement put you off too much.

Frank Zappa and his music. The whole lot, the rock, the classical, the jazz and the philosophy behind it all.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

I don't know what it was about that game which made me really enjoy it. I literally had to sit in silence for like 30 minutes after the story was over and I have no idea why it would have such a powerful effect on me, the game itself is pretty standard gaming stuff.

I think it's mainly the way that the whole game works together really, the design of the characters is interesting the game is actually colourful and decently put together and the use of real actors (Andy-Freakin-Serkis!) blended quite well with the story that they were trying to tell, especially at the ending if you've got all the extra memories throughout the game.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to an extent.

I decided to do some research on this series ever since I got hooked to the 2012 adaptation of Phantom Blood/Battle Tendency (currently watching and loving Stardust Crusaders too). And good lord has this series struggled to seek a large fanbase it deserves. It's suffered through bad translations to get here in the west, a cancelled Part 1 movie, an old anime with an English dub of Stardust Crusaders that NO ONE here in the US bothered to watch, and Phantom Blood/Battle Tendency are being skipped an English Dub because Stardust Crusaders is simply more popular (though I can confirm that David Productions agreed that if SC gets popular enough in all regions they will not only Dub Parts 1 and 2, but continue on to Diamond is Unbreakable). I mean yes, now it's garnered a decent fanbase in the animation department that can only grow as we go, but when you look back on when it tried to you can see that it was pretty stark in many eyes.

Definitely Dead Space 3. Now, I hate stuff like micro transactions, and I am not a fan of EA in any way just to clarify. Yet I really enjoyed Dead Space 3 for what it was, A DEAD SPACE GAME! Seriously, it was just another Dead Space game, it wasn't any less scary or atmospheric(if you can call them scary in the first place) that the first two. So yeah it had bland human enemies, they were pretty rare, 90% of the time, you fought necromorph enemies. The main characters weren't very good, but I never played those games for the characters to begin with.

Basically, if you like the first two games, but think the third is some drastic fall from grace, I think the warranted dislike for EA and micro transactions clouded your judgement. I am glad I got it used for a cheaper price admittedly, but for what it was, it was good enough.

Gorgonzola cheese.

The despicable unwashed masses of sheeple just don't appreciate what that stuff can do when melted and drizzled over a plate of gnocchi with parmesan, parsley and pepper.

To me that would the French animated series Wakfu since most people outside of France haven't heard of it. While the kickstarter to release english dub version is successful, I never understand why they had to resort to kickstart a dub version in the first place. Seriously? No on companies wanted to distributed and make a dub version of it and why?

Y'know I was going to divulge into some things I like that generally get a dislike vibe from the internet (excluding YouTube and also in the most broad way), but when I usually do that it comes off as "you guys it's not that bad". See any mainstream game I give support to like Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War, games I liked which had shitty PC ports etc.

So erm... Something I don't like that I think probably gets judged too harshly. Uhm... OK I'll go with Dead Space.

Now I didn't like Dead Space. I even tried playing it just before Halloween to get all that spooky mood going. It just didn't work for me. However, I do see that many complaints about it come from the emotional level rather an objective one (well, close to objectivity anyway). Things like "it wasn't scary" and "it's story and atmosphere weren't engaging" are subjective. The game is functional, has many cool gimmicks for the levels and it at least tries to use the Aliens/Event Horizon inspiration to it's benefit. If somebody was scared by those screeching monsters which do way too much damage and move faster than you, then good for them.

At least it wasn't like that other 2008 survival horror game. You know... the one that had violent gameplay matched with a rather non-violent story. The one that ripped off the second installment of the series to try and make the story seem better written than it was. The one that joined the movie installment in making one of the most iconic characters of the series just a mascot lol-punishment cameo?

Have you read the manga? I've just caught up and it's awesome. Parts 4 and 7 being the high points of the series for me (and most of the fanbase actually)

Well worth a read while you wait for the anime.

OT: An awesome animated film I watched as a Kid called Titan:AE. It was awesome sci fi and had Matt Damon in it. I watched it again on Netflix and it's still awesome! Never see anything about it though.

Jak and Daxter series maybe? I have always enjoyed those series.
Nooope, nope nope nope. Everybody loves that series. I mean, there's no way that anyone could hate adorable little Daxter, could they?

Well, I really liked them at any rate, I think there was a thread a few weeks ago about how good it was.

OT: For me, it'd be Fallout 3. I mean, it's generally well-received, yeah, but I found it 10/10 way more enjoyable than most other games I've played. So it's underrated in that I think it deserves better than it has, which is still a sizable chunk of praise.
