I'm pretty much the only person in my whole grade that only has a PS3, without an xbox360 or PC to go with it. I don't know how many times I've heard "ps3 haz no gaemz" from all the microsoft fanboys I have to co-exist with.

Well, my dad and brother make fun of me for being a 'geek'. I say to them that I'm not one, even though I guess I am sort of one, but unsurprisingly that doesn't help much. I'm a bit of a fool, I guess...

Anyway, I've never really had much stick for liking the stuff I like, though my housemates last year seemed a little bemused about my devotion to my university's film-making society, of which I am now Treasurer. Gaming and stuff is fine with my friends, some of whom are gamers themselves (though not much more than sports games, and a bit of Rome: Total War - in fact, they're the ones who got me into the TW franchise in the first place...). I tend to keep things like my love of anime hidden, to a degree, as I don't mind them knowing but I do get a little worried my friends will laugh at the fact that I enjoyed Hellsing and that I'm now watching the entirety of Yu-Gi-Oh from start to finish online...

At the end of the day, I'm a geek, to some extent, and I don't care if my friends know, but so far no-one's said anything bad about it (aside from the aforementioned father and brother...).

My friends take the piss outta me because I play videogames a lot, Ijust laugh at them saying: I'm always doing something I enjoy, you're always complaining. So yeah I gues I win. Music, I enjoy all genres really, from rap to pop to death metal, in no paricular order.

And I get that statement a lot from other friends, that the music I love, which is full to the brim with instrumental and vocal talent, is "just noise"
If the video you so...kindly...brought to my attention is the music you love, I'm inclined to agree with your friends. I heard no talent of any kind in there, and I tried, I really did.
Not trying to spark an argument, just stating facts: I play the drums, have done for years, and when listening and watching Converge's drummer play I cannot concieve how I would even begin to try and play something that fast, precise and complicated. Right there, that's incredible talent. A mate of mine plays guitar and agrees that their riffs are mind-boglingly complex. So yeah there's buckets of talent in that band, it's just that the vocals are a tad overbearing for most
I listened to it again, and I'll give it to you the guitar is pretty good. Drums didn't really impress me though; it could be that one of my good friends (who's played drums for...shit, I don't know how long, maybe seven years, possibly longer) improvises better than that. But he's a freakazoid and I'm convinced he's going to be rich and famous one day so I can ride on his coattails. Vocals just aren't my taste, I'm sure someone likes them.

I want to say right here that I don't mean to knock your taste in music, but the way that the song blended together it's easy to take it for noise at first glance. I know plenty how it feels to get flak for a band you like, some people just really don't like Coheed and Cambria.
I can understand completely. When I first heard them a few years back I could not understand how anyone could even consider liking them, but I gave them a second and third chance and they grew on me to the point that I now adore them. But yeah they're the most acquired taste I've ever heard and to anyone who doesn't love them, they are just noise. I'm just thankful that you're being cool about it and not just saying 'they're shit' without putting up an argument, like most people do
And some people don't like Coheed? Mental

Oh, yeah, I get some shit for my D&D-ness, as well. You should play it, it's a total blast.
Yeah but I doubt any of my friends know how to play or would have the patience for it.
Then kidnap them and force them to play with you. All of life's problems can be fixed by a simple kidnapping.
Okay then, I'm going to go get some rope and mouth gags and go about business.

Nickelback, Fall Out Boy, The Cab, Cobra Starship, Panic! at the Disco, and The Academy Is...

Though they really don't have any reason to insult me for liking these bands, given they all enjoy Linkin Park...

God help us if we're ever stuck together on a road trip.
