Now we all have those things which we enjoy despite knowing that it isn't particularly good, so this is one of those confession threads.

For me, it's moe anime. As much as I enjoy highbrow anime like stories of fighting SERN with time travel or a show about space cowboys, sometimes I just want to enjoy some lowbrow show about what if world war two was fought by cute anime girls (if you're wondering which anime I'm referring to, the answer is both of them), or a show about alien cats who are fighting alien dogs over the right to be here, or some poor shmuck trapped in a school for monsters who happens to be the only human there. (I'm on the fence about weather or not a story about the devil working at not-McDonalds counts as moe or not given the cast).

So that's basically it, despite liking highbrow anime I also enjoy the lowbrow moe (though they could tone it down a bit on the industry level).

So what are things which aren't particularly good which you guys enjoy?

Shit...it'll be quicker if I tell you what I do enjoy AND am good at...

I guess the main thing (and something I'm guessing will show up in this thread a lot) is sports. I LOVE sports. I will play just about anything that I can compete in athletically. However, as an overweight 28 year old man who is incredibly limited physically (asthma and leg problems), that does not equal greatness from me.

It doesn't help that I keep getting myself hurt. I'm on injury #3 of this year from playing sports (sprained ankle playing soccer in March, sprained wrist playing golf in May, and now a sprained knee from playing Ultimate about two months ago...I still can't run).

Why do I hate myself so much?

EDIT: Sum'*****! I was sitting here wondering how everyone misread the thread so badly and it turns out that it is I who have misread the thread!!! I shall now do the only honorable thing; Seppuku!

Because life would be too boring if you didn't put yourself threw this type of thing? Life is too short to be all positive activities which we enjoy, there needs to be negative ones which we enjoy in the mix.

Ah, guilty pleasures.

Too many to list. But overly fanservicey, excuse plot-ridden ecchi anime with terrible animation and girls with eyes bigger than both of their fists and the use of the words "kawaii", "moe", "nyan", and the unironic use of 2 minute long transformation sequences stolen straight from Sailor Moon[footnote]Add that to the list, too[/footnote] are all things I love in my shitty, low budget anime.

In other words, satirical slice of life.

And Marmaduke, which is awful in every wya, but I love it.

captcha: LOL CAT. Those too.

3 posts and nobody has made a sex joke? I am shocked!

OT:
I enjoy building PC rigs. I have done it a number of times, the most recent on only yesterday but as much as I enjoy doing it, I suck at it so much. No matter how much I research I always pick the wrong hardware (I do however always get people to check my choices before I buy), when I do get my hands on the hardware I always end up screwing thing in the wrong place (luckly I have not damaged anything so far), and I always end up damaging my self somehow be it standing on an upturned screw or cutting my arm open on a metal edge.

Also every time I have put a rig together, no matter how many times I check, i have always connected the power and disk tray buttons the wrong way. The last time I did it I just left it instead of fixing it. Really confused people whenever they tried to use my PC.

Gundam Seed Destiny

It's one of the worst Gundam shows, but i quite like how the main character become one of the antagonists in the show. One of the things that i love is how the vilain uses things like "peace, justice, etc..." to turn people to his side, and after that it's just their own fanatism that drives them to find reasoning to the atrocities they commit, powerful stuff about ideologies right there. But aside from that? It's a bad Gundam show, really convoluted in some parts and with an unlikeable protagonist.

The Dark Knight Rises

People didn't like this one, specially because "true art is angsty" so they couldn't take the ending very well. I liked the movie, i still think that Anne Hattaway is the best Catwoman to ever grace the screen and aside from Bane being too little, he did his part well, just like Miranda and most of the rest of the cast. Everyone was solid. If there is one thing i need to criticize is that while Bruce is the main character, he appears too little as Batman. It's not as good as TDK, but it's a solid movie, and it's a really good ending for a comic book trilogy.

Pacific Rim. Yeah, the movie is full of plot holes, but damn it is fun to watch a live-action "PUNCH IT IN THE FACE!" monster/robot brawl.

Strike Witches. Just...if you know the show, you understand. Enough said.

I still enjoy watching the Naruto anime. The manga has become a chore, but the anime at least still knows how to keep my interest. Of course, I'm only watching the English dub DVDs, so that might change once I catch up, but still...
Spinning off from that, really looking forward to Road to Ninja coming out next month. Hinata being sexy and assertive? I'm sold.

Ah yes, Pacific Rim, Honest Trailers was right when they said it was either the dumbest good movie ever made or the greatest dumb movie ever made.

As for Strike Witches, well I said there where two and that's certainly one of them for WW2 moe anime. (I watch it for the second world war references, I swear)

My latest guilty pleasure is Akame Ga Kill. The plot is stupid. The characters are walking anime cliches. They even had a swimsuit episode. Yet, I keep watching it. I think it's the cheesy action that draws me in.

The Transformers Movie (1986 version).

There are so many problems with it (pro tip: in the scene where Galvatron attacks the planet of Junk, you'll be able to see two Decepticons that died earlier in the movie =S)but I love it, because it's the only movie that shows the Transformers doing what they should be: murdering each other. I wish more series were willing to kill their characters like that movie.

Mob Psycho 100: Art is bad, most jokes fall flat. Still enjoy it. It's got this an unassuming charm.

Mercenary Maruhan: Demons invade human-land. Different people in power use the external threat to maneuver around their human political opponents. Kind of like Attack on Titan if the Titans were more of a background threat. Unfortunately, the writer cannot do political intrigue at all, so halfway through this mess he clearly gives up. Everyone turns good off-camera and be chums. Which still makes for an entertaining read, but it's pretty poor form.

Dead Like Me the TV program, I suppose I never got past what I thought was a good premise and two good first episodes.[footnote] Apparently one of the lead writers quit after 2 episodes so that's why the show seemed to go into a bit of a new direction[/footnote] It isn't particularly exciting or emotional if I recall correctly, I just remember a few pieces of dialogue and premises I found interesting. I hear it is considered a cult classic program, but I'm having problems finding this cult to actually discuss the show.

Your mum.

Rome 2 Total War.

I'll always defend Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, as well as X and X-2.

I know that Warhammer 40k isn't the best value for money, even in the miniatures world, and getting less so every month, but god damn do I enjoy it.

Armoured Core series. It's aged like a drugged up, smoking 60 year old prostitute but I love Armoured Core because it lets me live out my "Having a giant robot" fantasies.

Megas XLR is still one of the best cartoons I've seen; no one else really seemed to like it when it was on T.V., and most people think it's stupid.

I suppose Sword Art Online? It's quite a love or hate series but most people I see are mostly on the hate side nowadays in the post Season 1: Episode 15 world.

Yes it's a bit of mess, yes Kirito is OP as fuck and is a self insert power fantasy wish fulfilment character, yes the pseudo harem is still going on even though Kirito and Asuna have been going out since they were still stuck in SAO and probably countless other flaws I cba to list further.

But it's still fun to watch. The animation quality is top notch, fights are still cool, Kirito kind of goes through some character development over Season 2 which is nice and the way they've started to put more focus on how bad it is to rehabilitate certain people after 2+ years stuck in a permadeath MMORPG is interesting. Never get tired of Kirito unconsciously searching for a sheathe on his back that isn't there anymore.

Though I assume the post Season 2: Episode 15 world is gonna be one to watch. GGO was just an arc? Awwww, that was so cool too...

Yo' I once spent two weeks on holiday with friends and one spent our late night anime time fanboying over Megas on his own for the entire last week despite never even showing any interest in Megas before. It was bizarre.

"Fuck League, shit game i'm going back to Megas"

*fucks off to the other room with his laptop*

[sub][sub]Yes my holidays abroad are exciting. 10/10 two week LAN party[/sub][/sub]

And I found Megas to be pretty fun actually, it's stupid in the same way Gurren Lagann is. Very fun to watch as long as you don't think about how silly the physics/logic is.

Dark Souls 2.
It's a bland soulless (zing!) sequel to a game that cemented itself as a classic in today's gaming culture, but goddamn it, if the DLC wasn't so above the game's vanilla quality I would have dropped it after my first PVE run. Sir Aloone... you deserved a better game.
That and the game is fun to break on the PVP aspect. If I want PVP that requires skill and little to no redundancy, I still go back and play Dks1 now and then. But Dks2... I don't know, I find a kind of fascinating enjoyment out of using the clearly unbalanced OP stuff this new Fromsoft team just blindly dismissed when they threw this game out. Tumblebuffing and Ice Rapiers that can take off 3/4ths a health bar in a second?! Soul Memory that pits you against a meta-less plethora of Skyrim tanks?! Holy crap, the atrocities that I have committed... and enjoyed doing so... Thanks Fromsoft B team.

Aaaand the Star Wars prequels. Terrible... terrible films, but thanks to Redlettermedia, I find a deep enjoyment on riffing those steaming piles with gusto. Plus it's a great watch with friends. The worst moments like these seem to always get people laughing... Thanks Lucas.
