The lowest temperature physically attainable is absolute zero at -273 degrees celsius.

Assuming that all the matter comes into contact with your skin in both cases, 1L of steam at 100 degrees celsius will cause more severe burns than 1L of liquid water at 100 degrees celsius.

You weigh more in a vacuum than in normal conditions on earth.

There is no such thing as centrifugal force.

Steam is a lighter-than-air gas (assuming both gases are at the same temperature and pressure).

I'm a huge nerd :D

Dolphins can't tell the difference between hunger and thirst because they get all their water from their food.
(Mammals can't imbibe salt-water for any long period of time)

Eskimos have only 4 words for snow.

The shortest song, officially, is "You Suffer", by Napalm Death.
The track is 1.316 seconds long.

Bizarrely you can find live performances on Youtube.

Here's a whack of them.

Whereas a few US Presidents has died while in office (assassination being counted), only one Canadian Prime Minister has. The first, Sir John A. McDonald.

Pigs are the only creature apart from ourselves that can get sunburned.

A polar bear's skin is black, and it's fur nearly, if not, colourless. They're also the Largest predator on land.

A whale's song changes completely over 5 years.

The song with the fewest notes is '3:24'...it has none at all. The orchestra is silent for three minutes and twenty-four seconds, and whatever noise is made during that time by the audience is the 'music'.

If you adjusted Rockefeller's earnings to modern scale, he would outshine Bill Gates' fortune.

Ford made a mere 2$ Profit for every Model T or 'Tin Lizzie' sold. The cars cost about $250 when they came out.

There is a London and Paris in Ontario.
A city named Ontario in California.
Rome in New York, Athens in Georgia.
Good luck finding the Simpsons, 17 US states have a Springfield.
There are also 5 Montreals in the US.
Every planet in our solar system has a town or city named after them in the US, save one, Uranus.

Canada has held both the Financially Worst (Montreal) and Best (Calgary) Winter Olympics. To date, Calgary is the only city to turn a profit overall from hosting the Olympics.

And one I'd like clarified.

A certain Hockey Player, an 'Enforcer'...reportedly racked up so many Penalties in his career there was enough for him to spend a whole season in the Penalty Box, but for the life of me, I forget who. Anyone know?

It has one natural satilite and somewhere between 4000 and 12,000 artificial satilites.

THe lowest atainable temperature is -273.15 Celcius. This is the exact point at which the Kelvin scale starts: the Kelvin scale is identical to Celcius except it starts at the lowest temperature and has no negative figures. Room temperatures is 293.15K and boiling water is 373.15K.

saw tooth sharks can live far upstream in murky freshwater with low oxygen. Aborigines painted their likeness on cave walls in the outback

Fanta was invented so the Coka Cola company could sell a product in the Nazi occupied areas instead of coke.

The Phrase "Standing on the shoulders of giants" was said by Sir Isiac Newton, but it's true meaning is an insult to a fellow scientist, Boile (I can't spell his name but it's pronounced boil). Newton was a tall man and constantly ridiculed Boil about being short.

As A material scientist I can tell you what Glass is;

It is amn Amorphous Solid, a solid with no crystaline structure and no order to it's arangement of it's atoms. To call it a liquid was originally a misstake by someone who was told that "Amorphous solids have their atoms aranged LIKE liquids".
However, because it is amorphous solid, it "Creeps" ie. as time goes by it slowly sinks. Many metals also Creep if they are given enough time. If you go to a church that is new/old enough to have the first few metal guttering systems, the metal pipes will have sagged due to creep.

Acording to the technical definition of a birds Beak (ie from the nostril to the tip) the Kiwi bird has the shortest beak in the world even if the actual full beak is about 2 inches/10 centemeters long.

During the 2nd world war the japanese build tiny balloons with a device on them that would drop napalm on their target, thousands were made and deployed, they traveled in the jetstreams (high speed wind currents in atmosphere where most world record balloon flights take place today) and dropped their napalm on america. it was a simple trick because they were made of paper and very small amounts of metal and napalm and were therefore invisable to radar. Because America is so large with alot of empty spaces, they didn't hit many people but the idea was that if enough were made enough people would be killed that americans would be scared for their lives because of this undetecable threat.
The American goverment found out about this plot and so made a department of men who would visit the victims of these attacks and tell them that they would be arrested if they told anyone about this. This was a goverment conspiracy that is now pubic and actually very clever because there was very little chance of getting hurt but it was just like a form of propaganda that was made to scare.
But the idea of men in suits covering up crashes got warped by time and idiots until it became the story of alien invasions and the MIB.

If you could fold a peice of paper 48 times the thickness would be more than the distance of the earth to the moon.

The city of pompei was full of pornography, and the first thing they dug up when they first found pompei was a statue of Pan shagging a goat. The rudest stuff was put in a pornography museum which is still open today except only to proffessors of history. There is one vital rule in this museum; "Anyone who laughs is thrown out"

Iceland has a "P enis museum" that has p enis' from every known animal (either stuffed or castings.

Most animals have a bone in their Penis to keep it straight and to give better control over it (if you can't hold it with no hands you're gonna need help)

I'm afraid 6 new Moons have been discovered, these are not artificial and are actually meteors that are currently trapped in an orbit around the earth (most are escaping though but they still count as moons)

OK I'll stop there for now, because this is a nerd overload but I shall return

also water is one of the very few substances that expands when
frozen, this is a good thing because if it were denser when frozen
ice would sink causing the oceans to freeze from the bottom up
and we would not be here
This property of Ice being larger in volume than water, is due to the H-bonds, a weak bond between Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms that are already bonded. this allows Ice to become ordered but, at the same time, spread out.

It has been decided once, twice, and thrice to shut-up about the state of glass

I, and the citizens of the Escapist Magazine Forums, hereby decree, that the discussion and or discussion about the state of glass will no longer be permitted and the penalty for such discussion will be death. And or death.

7th Guest and 11th Hour were the only two puzzle games where my mother was the first to complete it completely and put a walkthrough on the internet during the 90s.m And yes it is true even though no facts can be shown.

America didn't want anything to do with the World Wars until we asked them for help. Like during WW2 they banned all radio and news about the war until ChurchHill ((god bless him)) had asked the president who was a good friend of his. By the way does any American get taught that at all? I mean we did here in Britain but I wondered.

I'll find more soon.

Sort of. We stayed out of them until we were attacked ourselves. WW1 the tipping point was German attacks on out ships (I think, I might be wrong), and the second one was Pearl Harbor.

I've never heard a German with an accent like that. I think something along the lines of "The Queen of England is of German descent." would be a better option.
Sorry, I have no such random facts. Mostly because everyone knows them all already, pretty much all of them are wrong or disputed and I can't be bothered to walk across my room and open up one of my QI books.
