When I'm nervous, such as when I have to do anything involving public speaking, I use an overabundance of hand gestures that contribute nothing to the actual story.

I only just realized this a few months ago, and I've caught myself doing them ever since.

Do any of you have nervous qualities like that?

(p.s. serch bahr appruvd lawl)

If I'm not talking in front of others and I'm nervous I tend to yawn. Makes people think I'm bored and is great when playing cards.

Edit: Ninja'd?!? What the hell? I thought I was a unique snowflake.

I go straight to violence. Nervousness sounds to much like a weakness, so being violent usually gives people the view that you are not nervous.

Usually before the said event I'm nervous about, I'll usually pace back and forth, and sleep for about 14 hours per day

This. Its an easy way to mask nervousness.

I've actually done that before.

Double malt scotch on the rocks and 3 minutes. It'll settle your nerves right down. Its what I used to do BEFORE psyching myself up for shows.

I bite my lips a little bit and get much, much more serious than I usually am. I'm normally a very happy-go-lucky guy. If I'm acting serious, people know shit is going down.

Bite my nails. If I am really nervous, I pretend I'm sick and visit the bathroom a lot, usually to just play on my iPhone.

Hey, Radeonx also stole our thing. Soon we'll learn that a lot of people do this, then how will you feel?

For people who didn't realize they did any of these things before, how did you find out?

I found out because I was rehearsing for a school play and during one of my scenes I actually hit a fellow actor with my hand gestures. :\

When I'm nervous my left arm flexes or I have my arms crossed. When I'm REALLY nervous, I also stu-stu-stutter a-a lot-t and l-look around like I'm wa-watched.
EDIT: I figured this out when I was looking for a new school to go to. My mom told me this after I talked to my future teachers.

It depends on why I am nervous.

I usually make conversation when I'm nervous. I also have a lot of nervous energy in my hands, so my hands twitch.

I get nauseated when I'm really nervous.

When I have to give a presentation or a speech, I get dizzy and shaky and I feel like I'm going to vomit.

One time, for Ancient Mediterranean Archaeology class, I had to give a half-hour presentation on Hierakonpolis. I couldn't eat or sleep and I couldn't relax the entire day.

But when it was finally over, I went back to my dorm room and turned on Ghost Hunters and just laid in bed to try and relax for several hours.

I normally find myself planning out what I'm going to say for a particular event (surely we've all had a time when we try to think of something witty to say if we know that later on we'll meet someone we fancy/have a crush on) or trying to direct my attention elsewhere (I either fail miserably or end up being late for the event in question).

Also, when talking to a particular woman (who I have quite a fondness for I might add) I find myself stuttering and being unable to think of something to say (even though I want to say something).
