That there are no MMO's for consoles. I mean, I understand the problem. You have a very small number of buttons on a controller, no-one wants to buy a keyboard for a PS3, and there are legal limitations, but surely there can be at least console MMO.
FFXI comes to mind...
I meant a good one.

Why people in RPG's don't care when you steal all of their belongings right in front of them. Just playing Dragon Age 2, and your character is a friggin kleptomaniac. Walked into the tavern, wandered behind the bar and stole the jewerly in the box stored back there, no one even batted an eye. Made worse by the fact you have the captain of the guard in your party and even she doesn't mind looting innocent peoples homes.
I have seen games that have cared, but it certainly seems to be the norm that taking everything thats not nailed down and flogging it off at the local market is the way heroes are expected to fund their battles against the forces of darkness.

ON THE SUBJECT OF RIDICULOUS ARMOR:

I think Dawn of War II is an amazing RTS, but I've always wondered how the hell Space Marines can aim their bolters without a decent set of iron sights. And have you seen the size of the pauldrons they wear on their shoulders? I surprised they can aim a weapon at all without those getting in the way.
the bolters have a targeting assist setup thats linked into their armour's sensors, the little cylinder that sits above the barrel muzzle is one of the sensors for that system

1. The complaint with the ATB system is stupid.

Sure, if that system wasn't there then the characters would just run around slashing things up in real time. That would make things 'realistic'. This is not what game play should necessarily achieve. It can be realistic but it doesn't have to be. The ATB system is trying to achieve a different way of combat, a strategic combat.

No one complains that in Chess, when the knight kills the bishop the bishop could have simply moved if it was in real time, in a real battle, being realistic. Chess obviously can't be in real time, because it is a board game however, what is being achieved here is a different set of rules to the real world to which each piece must obey. The bishop must stand there and allow the knight to kill him. This is a rule. This is exactly what the ATB system and any other turn based system is achieving. It's called, not being realistic, different rules to real life combat, and creating a different form of strategy that is highly enjoyable to both me and millions of other people around the world. Just because it's a video game and can be 'realistic' by using a real time combat system where you can 'draw out a gun and shoot the crap out of them' doesn't mean it has to be. If every battle system in a game was like that, the games industry would be severely lacking in fun. I don't want to always run around shooting things of slashing things in real time. In the end the ATB system is just a different take on things which IS fun, just because it isn't 'realistic' and real time does not mean it's stupid.

2. Phoenix Down

When your party member is down in battle they are in a state called KO. KO means knocked out. As in still alive, just not conscious. (Final Fantasy VII Plot Spoilers which you VERY annoyingly forgot to include. Just because you, I and so many other people have played the game does not mean that someone else hasn't yet and maybe wanting to give it a go. Skip the rest of the post if you don't want things spoiled.)

When Aerith died. She was DEAD not KO'd. DEAD. A phoenix down "revives party member from KO". It does not revive people from the dead.

The thing I find ridiculous and stupid in RPG's:

- How your character often is this great men on an epic quest but all you actually do in-game is being a glorified postman.
Made worse when NPC shops over charges you. I wish there was an option in game where you can just threaten the store to give free equipments or at least discounts (Mass effect successfully does this - Awesomely too :D Discrimination against the poor FTW) otherwise the world will come to an end anyway =\.

As for fetch quests this is also one of the reason I do not play MMORPG anymore, EXPECIALLY grindfests.

- Do actual heroes spend so much time looting the corpses of their victims?
Some game does this, Monster Hunter comes into mind as a primary offender...

OT: In Assassin's Creed when enemies just stand around you in a circle taking turns to attack you, it's like playing a JRPG.
OMG! You're right!!! Thanks for reminding me! :p
Then again, in real life I doubt this would happen though, as probably when you are fighting alone against 4-5 guards would mean you're surrounded and probably already stabbed from every corner...

(By the way, while I can understand the whole point of bashing the ATB-system and the Phoenix down - although one could say there's a difference between being dead and being knocked out - you're statement of the 'impobable armor' is flawed. in JRPGs a watch can protect you if it's embedded wit magic, you might as well call hax on every fantasy game ever made, be it JRPG or no.)
The magic concept is also what I thought of, but then again comes story and gameplay segregation, and after looking at Wonder Woman then... wow. Considering the technology level of Final Fantasy 7 seem to have reached force fields, I'm just going to assume that those bangles either is imbued with magic, or its a forcefield generator.

Unless the game did explain how these things work, then I would just assume they are normal bangles, and are used as a "shield" just like how Wonder Woman did it. Still I would consider it is ridiculous.

Perhaps I just dislike JRPG =\ and it came out a rather biased.

The stalwart hero of the land must do everything himself... It's not like can get his party members to complete a fetch quest for him right?

Also i call bullshit whenever an Insurmountable Waist High Fence presents itself (worst offender is the Fable series i think)
RAMIREZ!!! DO EVERYTHING!!!

And on the other hand I just remembered something else!!

1. Primary Offender - VAGRANT STORY - NO SHOPS THROUGH OUT THE GAME!
this is just ridiculous. RPG games with no shops to buy healing items and force you to scavenge for them is just crazy. Add the fact that theres just so many monsters.

2. Primary Offender - R Type series, ESPECIALLY ships from R-Type Final - ONE HIT WONDER. Even though SEVERAL ships do mention they are using special armor or whatever to protect them, this just simply doesn't work, you WILL Still die in ONE HIT. R Type Tactics/Command is spared from this guilt though as sometimes some ships can withstand multiple blows, even ones that does not have an HP counter.

I know it's been said before, but why do I, the hero, have to pay for my potions and phoenix down's?

Can't I just strike a advertisement deal with the shop?
"My name is commander Cloud, and this is the best phoenix Down on the Citad- Planet"

Any game with incorrect handling of weapons systems, this gets me even more in films (if you see 'Tomorrow: When the War Began' you will see a teenage girl with no prior experiance firing an AKM/AK74 from the hip with one magazine (less) of ammunition and still kill an entire section/fireteam of 'coalition' soldiers wearing body armour and helmets. On fully automatic without aiming) This is why I like Battlefield Bad Coy (1+2) as you will get more kills if you move tactically, ADS and crouch before firing.

Being able to recover from damage by eating food.
The most notable one being Saint's Row 2:

"OH MY GOD! I JUST GOT HIT BY A ROCKET AND SHOT IN THE KNEE BY A HUGE REVOLVER. I AM DYING A MISERABLE DEATH!!"
"Here, eat this burger!"
*eats it*
"My god! I'm okay, my wounds have just healed themselves!"

Also the fact that I have a million guns and grenades and knives but I can't break through a wooden door.
