Not sure if anyone has been in this situation before, where whether be a movie, game, band, or character you use to like, went from modest beginnings to full fledge notoriety. All of a sudden the fanboys grew in masses and wouldn't stfu about it, and if it was a song, you couldn't go anywhere without hearing it played to death over and over again.

You went from being a fan to hating all the fans, and at least decided to close yourself off from the source. As for me, this would have to be my list.

-Wolverine, today when you talk about the X-men, the series should really be retitled "The Indestructible Wolverine and friends." With all the love the fans and comic book writers poured into this character after the 90s, Logan went from being the underdog of the Marvel series to this omni present immortal badass borderlining douche, it just went too far and even though it hasn't made a hater out of me, I know it has for many others.

-World of Warcraft, back when I picked up this game, it had just come out, and back then I don't think anyone had a clue towards how big this game would eventually get, and to be honest I miss those days. Before the masses, WoW was still a bit in it's experimental phase where it wasn't trying to be as main stream and watered down as today, and the player base was small enough to where real communities flourished from the game's niche qualities. They call it Vanilla WoW, and it's a game I miss to this day.

I hate to be the one to say this particular thing but, it is inevitable. When I was about 11 or so I started reading JTHM (Johnny the homicidal maniac) Now, before you get ideas of me, it was just something I thought had interesting artwork that wasn't anime that I found at an out of the way bookstore once. I wasn't a fan I just picked it up one day, read some of it, thought it was pretty funny albeit bloody (cartoon blood wasn't exactly perturbing to me) so, ultimately I read it, had some laughs and then never looked at it again. About three years later I went into high school and people were sporting JTHM shirts, quoting the character to death, dressing like him etc. And I was honestly astounded. I liked the funny bits, and it was somewhat cathartic to read, but I didn't idolize the main character at all. (I recognized that idolizing murder wasn't exactly healthy for the brain and, while I understood the quips about the different stereotypes and their stupidity etc. I still didn't think that idolizing a man who killed people was appropriate because to me, it was just reading material.)

It was kind of scary because I knew girls that had crushes on this cartoon character who embodied a lot of wrongs in society they'd never condone if it'd happened in real life. Those same girls (and some guys) also ruthlessly defended this comic book from criticism. If you said it was 'okay', they needed to know what you thought was wrong with it, why you didn't find it 'great' and so on.

I dunno. Fan's have ruined lots of things for me. Anime for one. I used to enjoy it when I was a kid but once I got into high school it was everywhere and thus no longer special. Along that line of thinking, Final Fantasy (especially 7) definitely ruined for me. (My favorite game was FF3 and after 7 I just felt an apathy towards the franchise with all of the people fawning over characters that were not but pixels.)There are literally tons of things fans have ruined for me.

The Music Industry (in general). All those stupid whiney bands getting up there to make a buck (Nickleback, Daughtry, Theory of a Dead Man, and the rest of that ilk), having fangirls/boys fawn all over them (in recent years even NIRVANA can be guilty of that... Kurt is turing in his grave, RIP), and getting WAAAAAAAY over played. It's sad when now a days the only MODERN music I can tolerate comes from Finland/Sweden/Other Really Cold Countries.

Book stores. I used to go to book stores to RELAX. Not anymore! I cant even walk through my local B&N without screaming anime/manga fangirls (my Graphic Novel section is RIGHT THE FUCK ACROSS FROM the anime/manga) runing my browsing, Twitards complaining about Team Jacob or Team Edward (personally, I'm Team Van That ALMOST Hit Bella... KEEP TRYING VAN! If at first you DONT succeed, well then KEEP ON SUCKING!) and just getting on my nerves, and people like Comic Book Guy trying to explain the "hidden meanings" of The Watchmen to me. I FUCKING KNOW THEM! LET ME READ IT AGAIN IN PEACE YOU DOUCHE!

Hell, I could go on, but I figure those are the two that mean the most to me, beacuse, I'm NOT a huge anime/manga fan... Wolf's Rain, Hellsing, Devil May Cry... SOME FMA, but it's WAAAAAAY too fangirled, just like Inu-fucking-yasha, Bleach, and motherfucking Naruto.

The RIAA. I know, I know, they dont really go here, but the just PISS ME OFF SO FUCKING BAD. Just sayin'.

Definitely nintendo fanboys.... they are some of the worst. Zelda/Metroid/Pokemon/Mario games are all right but they are still alive because of nastalgia. INNOVATION PLZ

I forgot all about .hack//Sign! THAT was one twisted and awesome anime! CRAZY cool, was the inspiration for my Freshman Thesis in college! GREAT stuff, great stuff.

Glad to know I'm not alone in not caring for much of it!

To be honest I am not bothered if a lot of people like something I like. I can understand how it would get annoying having to listen to the same song or hearing someone quote the same quote again and again. I usually just try and not listen to them and that is all I can really do.
