Things you love that no one else seems to have played/seen/read

I love to read. In fact I enjoy reading even more than gaming (reading is 1st, gaming is 3rd).

One of my favorite series is the Nightside series by Simon.R.Greene. It follows a man called John Taylor and he is what you would get if you took Harry dresden and mixed him together with John Constantine. The series has everything. humor, magic, super science, aliens and multiple apocalypse's. And yet to this day I have never encountered anyone, in my life or online, who has ever read them. Not one! I have met only one other person who has read another series by Greene that is set in the same world, which is also great (Supernatural James Bond with space guns and magic).

So what do you love and why has nobody seen/read/played it?

The Seventh Tower. It's not the most sophisticated read or anything, because the series is written for a fairly young audience, but the world it builds is very interesting and the fantasy elements of manipulating light and sentient shadow-creatures that are tied to people and will protect them even at the cost of their own lives aren't things I've often seen in other pieces of media. It's the primary influence I'm taking for the "country" that's the main focus in the story I'm currently working on. But I've seen more people mention Artemis Fowl than The Seventh Tower.

I never really see Clone High brought up anywhere, either. It was a really wacky, funny cartoon. Sad that it ended like it did, though...

My dad is a huge fan, actually. I've never personally gotten around to reading any of it, but it sounds like good stuff, from what he's told me.

OT: I have not met many They Might Be Giants fans outside my immediate family. I guess they're not as big as they used to be, though. Still one of my favorite bands. Same with the Black Lips.

No one I know aside from my boyfriend (who I made to sit and watch it with me) has seen Memories of Matsuko. It's one hell of an amazing film and one of the only films that has ever made me sit there after it crying for a good 10 minutes. That film made me ponder so much about life, about the people around me and about how I could be dealing with situations.

Not many people I know read or even know about the Chronicles of the Necromancer/Dead King's Cycle by Gail Z. Martin.
Or if I bring her up, people assume I'm referring to Game of Thrones.
Because clearly there is only one person in the entire world with the surname of Martin.
Nevermind that I put the "Gail Z." in there.

... actually a lot of things I like people assume I'm talking about something else.
I mention Cold, people think I'm talking about Coldplay... *sigh*

I love the Atelier Iris series of games (and by extension, the Mana Khemia games) BUt the only Atelier games people talk about are the PS3 ones which I can't get into because the combat went really weird and the whole game is one big time limit. Oh well, maybe it's just me.

An anime that I've really been getting into lately is Chaos;Heads and Stein's;Gate (The latter I've only seen 14 episodes of thus far). I love how they deal with topics like isolation and such and they're so atmospheric. Plus, y'know, this scene is just glorious.

Well, i'm getting into books on Taoist philosophy and most people haven't even heard of Taoism...

There is an entire list of games, movies and books i talk about that no one has even heard of in my college which is odd to me and makes me odd to them, no idea why they don't know them i mean some of them haven't even heard of Final Fantasy and whenever i mention games its always "is that like [Insert FPS here]?".

The Grimnoir Chronicles.

It's a jazzy little read with two books out the gates of an expected trilogy, slight dieselpunky-alternative history, the Point Of Divergence (POD, 'ats a new word for thos who don't get down with Alt. history otherwise) is that people started acquiring "talents" IE sort of-ish magic powers back in the 1860's.

Everything from shooting electricity, flame, being superstrong or just a frickin' blazin' genius.

It's from the same author of the wildly popular "Monster hunter" series (larry correias the name, well written characters and gun porn, is the game). But it hasn't acquired the same "punch through walls" notoriety as the MH series. Which is a pity, it's a noiry, slightly punky alt history shindig with plenty of action, resentment against empowered people and suprisingly well written characters.

Oh, and japan is trying to conquer the world. They have teleporting, wall-phasing ninjas. Which is ok, 'cause hawai has zeppelin riding, fire throwing airpirates.

It might be hard to tell, but i like the whole crafted world.

Oh, and the "sir apropos of nothing series" Weird? sure, but they were pretty damn funny. what the heck is Peter david doing these days`?

The Man from Earth. Seriously, I don't know anyone who's ever heard of it outside of my group of friends, and we only know because one of us watched it and then told everyone else to.
One of my favourite movies now.

Well in regards to his fantasy (I haven't read anything from his other genres) "The View From the Mirror", being the first series that take place in the same universe (thus far there are 3: two quartets, and a trilogy). This is the best one thus far, I couldn't put those books down! The second quartet... not so much. I've finished 2/4 but... it's kind of beyond depressing ;u;

He's recently started another fantasy series that has no connection to the previous ones. Haven't started reading it yet (I have a massive piles of books I need to read but keep putting off...) but it looks interesting.

And another good series is Imager's Portfolio series by L.E. Modesitt Jr. Which... again nobody knows about. I think I need more friends that like reading ;u;

Make that 2! I love the Night Angel Trilogy it is one of my favorite series of books. Even through it has one of the worst characters ever made by man in it. See if you can guess which one I mean.

Well in regards to his fantasy (I haven't read anything from his other genres) "The View From the Mirror", being the first series that take place in the same universe (thus far there are 3: two quartets, and a trilogy). This is the best one thus far, I couldn't put those books down! The second quartet... not so much. I've finished 2/4 but... it's kind of beyond depressing ;u;

LE.Modesitt Jr. Sounds very familiar and ill look into those i also have lots of books i should read and need more friends that read. The biggest Problem i have is that i have some friends that read but none that read Quickly and i burn through books when im bored, Once read the first 12 Wheel of Time(also amazing series if you can take the slow pace) Books in less than a month because book 13 was coming out
