Replayed Pokemon Yellow quite recently and suddenly had my mind blown when I saw the spaceship in the museum is the actual one from the moon landing in 1969. Does the Pokemon universe have some unknown connection to our own?????

What do they eat if they don't kill pokémon? And why has nobody documented the medical marvel of hundreds of twin sisters in the pokémon universe? Why does Ash say he wants to catch em' all, but the never catches any?
1. they do. you'll see attempts to kill or eat pokemon in the manga, anime and games.
2. it's not all that special apparently. it seems that they mostly look the same but it's partially just due to the uniform. My only guess is that the genes are just that dominant, if you're exposed their *ahem* genetic material long enough your hair'll turn blue/pink/ you'll grow a mustache.
3. marketing of course. If they didn't say it then then only compeletionists would care

You mean, other than it being exactly like our own but with pokemon (and all they entail) instead of animals, and different land masses (and all that entails)?

Pidgeot flys at the speed of mach 2 that's technically twice as fast as garchomp who for some reason has a higher speed stat

I first saw the movie when I was younger and it completely went over my head.

Now, I find this hilarious.

The bird gym leader cheats having a pidgeoto before a pidgey can evolve.
Gengar is Clefairy's shadow, have you ever tried punching your own shadow? Doesn't work in pokemon either :Dhttp://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Gengar_and_Clefable

The Pokemon Kyorge is technically a dolphin. I learned recently that orcas/killer whales are a type of dolphin.

Red actually does talk once in the game. How do I know this? Because that little girl Mimic mimics you! There is no other way that she could mimic you if your character didn't speak, Red even goes so far as to tell her to stop mimicking him.

Why do wild Pokemon ambush you in the wild? Because Arceus being the god of Pokemon ordained that Pokemon try to challenge trainers.

According to an in-game text I read in Diamond and Pearl a while back it said that Pokemon and humans once married. As disturbing as that sounds that may explain why some Pokemon have a humanoid shape.

i don't know how true this is, but someone told me a few weeks ago that the black tail is wobbuffet and that the blue thing is just a meat shield
That is actually very possible, according to the Pokedex entries, anyway. In summary, the entries say that Wobbuffet basically lives its life trying to protect its tail. It even lives in caves solely to hide the pitch black tail. What makes the part about the tail being the actual Pokemon possible? Well, in the 4th and 5th gen entries (DPPt and BW), it states that Wobbuffets hyper security over its tail suggests that the tail holds a secret. That secret could very well be that the tail is where Wobbuffets brain is located hence making it the actual Pokemon. Just my two cents I suppose.

I can't be the only one who finds this eerily possible? According to some other sources (I'm guessing Pokedex entries too, but I'm too lazy to check) Gengar is said to be a "Shadow of a Pokemon."
EDIT: Damn, I was ninja'd as I was typing this /:

In the DPPt PkDex entry for Wartortle, it says that they can live to be 10,000 years old. This means that if Pokemon takes place in modern times, then the oldest Wartortles have been alive since prehistoric times.

I'm sure I can find some other interesting little tidbits, so I'll edit this post as I find more.

I assume that was because it was during a time when Pokemon Red and Green was originally released, they intended for it to be based on the real world, which would justify why the region was called Kanto (though iirc, they didn't call it by name outside of Japan until gen 2), theres also the spaceship like you said, plus there are multiple references to Elephants in pokedex entries and in-universe, Lt Surge is a American....

Once Nintendo saw how surprisingly successful (considering that the Gameboy was almost dead at the time) the merchandising outside and inside of Japan was, they started to speed up on producing more games, whilst attempting to retcon out most real world links, though to be fair it would be hard to retcon Lt Surge's nationality away. (chances are it might have been done
to avoid plotholes, because afterall, how many people outside of japan knows that Kanto is a real world region? and how many people knows names of entire countries?)

Other cases of things before the canon set in
- Mew was said to GIVE BIRTH to Mewtwo in R/B/Y, however it isn't clear if it's actually true in this canon, or simply a holdover from when Pokemon was more "real".
- They mention the Columbia space ship inside the Pewter Museum, later to being called a space ship in Fire Red/Leaf Green, mostly because people died on the ship.
- Elephants! (still pretty cool)

Gengar has pre-evolved forms so that theory doesn't really work. However the awesome face moon is a nice touch to the picture.

caterpy -> metapod -> butterfree "venomoth"

Venomoths original design:

Caterpy and venomoth also had the same number of arms, (just as venomnat and butterfree have the same number of arms/legs).
Even more believable again when you also find out that 'vemonmoth' is based off a real life butterfly species, not a real life moth species.

So much going for it XD

I thought it was interesting.

That Kangaskhan is supposed to be a play on words for "Genghis Khan".

Also, in Red/Blue, there is this one Hiker trainer who's lines were "Hit me with your best shot!" and "Fire Away!"

For those who don't know, those are lyrics to this song:

Now if that isn't Woolseyism, I don't know what is.

Giratina-Satan?
Yes that's correct, because the "Sui" comes from one of the Japanese words for water, which is pronounced that way. Related, "Rai" = lightning and Entei is a mythological figure although "En" is also blaze or inferno. Anyone who watches Naruto in Japanese would say the same, in case my word is somehow less reliable than theirs. Granted, I also thought it was different until that dumb announcer guy in Stadium said it.

Well, the first time I played it I didnt realize just how stupid that "I like shorts!" line was.

Also, I never realized that Mew was supposed to be like a fetus. 'Cause it has everyone's DNA or something, right? And it can Transform!

Well holy shit.

Also, Golurk can learn Fly. Don't know how though.
Golurk is a Ghost-type pokemon. Guess what most ghosts can do?
Well then Gengar and Mismagius and whatnot should be allowed to Fly too! Gosh darnit, Pokemon!
