I still think World of Warcraft gets a lot more hate than it deserves.
Most if it probably comes from the whole 'neckbeard nerd' image that comes with things like MMOs. I've met a lot of people who play it, and none of the people I've met have fit that image.
Other than it, it's still the biggest MMO right now, and it's still relevant no matter how much you deny it.

Indeed. I hate mob mentality.

Though I think Batman and Robin was bad. I still don't think it deserves the hate it gets.

To be fair, I have seen just as many people that react to anyone that puts forth the idea that men's rights might possibly maybe need to be looked at and updated with such anger, or hate.

And as for the PC Elitism thing, well, technically Computers, CAN be superior to consoles, and anyone who has built a PC in the last 3 years has a PC that is easily superior to the 360, Wii, or PS3, because the tech those three systems use are what, 8? 7? Years old. In terms of Specs PCs will generally be superior, though Specs don't always equate to better games. As for the joke, I honestly haven't seen that many people that are using the joke and taking it super seriously.
Men's rights need looking at? Women are paid less and get discriminated against more, and there are still people trying to outlaw abortion. That affects men too, but it's still the woman's body. And that's just in the first world countries. In most third world countries, they have no rights at all, but men are the ones whose rights are in danger, or are lacking? What makes you say that? I'm genuinely curious. I don't want this to spiral into a feminism thread, but I've gotta know.

As for the PC thing, it's not about whether the PC can be superior. It's about respecting other people's choices, or really, just not being a gigantic asshole. I'm a PC gamer, but do you see me bitching about consoles, or trying to make people feel shitty about their purchases? I mean, what business is it of mine what platform someone does their gaming on? And if you haven't seen 'em, well, I don't know what to tell you, because they're everywhere. If you peruse the Facebook comments on a few articles you'll find quite a few. I've seen plenty on the forums too. I honestly don't know how you're missing them.

Edit: kneejerk. :p

That there are woman's rights issues doesn't mean there are no mens rights issues or they shouldn't be discussed regardless of who has it worse. Disusing mens rights is not a slight against woman rights unless you are specifically bringing it up in an attempt to shut down discussions about woman rights (which people do a lot unfortunately but the opposite is also true). Child custody, often atomically assumed to be the aggressor, conscription in some countries, circumcision of male children (it is not the same thing as female circumcision but that doesn't make it a non issue) ect.
You know, you're right. When I read his post originally, my mind jumped straight to this:

I was gonna ask what the fuck that had to do with feminism, but then it slowly dawned on me, and I thought "Oh... shit." I'm not blind to men's rights, but I'm so sick of hearing idiots say feminism is evil, or how feminists hate men, that I just jumped straight to default and defended it.

You're right--you're absolutely right.

Prometheus, definitely Prometheus. There were so many worse films to have come out around that time and yet the gods of public consensus deigned that Prometheus would be the most hated of them all. It's obviously not the most perfect movie ever but its so subtly awesome in so many ways it just shits me no end that everyone randomly got up and agreed it was satan-spawn.
Also the second and third star wars prequels. The first is.. kinda justifiably hated, save the environments and the Maul end fight.

Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, for signing the Munich Agreement.

It's easy to see how little it accomplished with the benefit of hindsight, and posterity seem to have placed most of the blame on poor character on Chamberlain's part. That he either was too naïve to entertain the thought that Hitler wouldn't hold his part of the bargain, or that he was being cowardly.
It would be reasonable to assume that he did underestimate Hitler & Company. But you don't become prime minister through innocence, or by conceding when you do not have to.

It was an attempt to play for time, and get a chance to get the army and administration in shape for defence. A war at that stage would've gone far worse than it eventually, and likely inevitably, did. There was not much else to do, something that wouldn't be an equally pointless but much more harmful gesture, anyway.

In the end, it was cowardly, dishonourable and ultimately futile. But sometimes, that is the only thing to do. The only thing you can do.

This lovely Polandball comic explains my feelings on the matter rather well.

(Careful, it's rather large)

Yeah, second that. Chamberlain went home and quietly rearmed to an extent after the deal anyway.

You'll also note that as soon as the Germans started attacking them, the French defence crumbled and the British were chased off back behind the Channel.

Also this.

They might not be brilliant, but they've had a few good songs out yet it seems to be the cool thing to hate them.

Anita and feminism, although I think many people's definition of feminism is absolutely wrong and they're hating a false idea of something.

To an extent, anything. The more popular something is, the more vocal people are when they dislike it. It's like "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME! I DON'T LIKE THIS POPULAR THING UNLIKE YOU SHEEP!"
You... DARE defend Nickleback? There is only one suitable punishment for this:

I'm in camp everything. Not only is hate irrational and destructive, it's tiring and tedious. To me, hate is when you are so angry about something, it becomes a part of your sense of identity. So you need to sustain your anger (often against what would have been your better judgement) to preserve your sense of self. Take notice of how you almost never hear someone say "I feel hate.", but almost exclusively "I hate.", as if that hate is what defines them in a particular area.

That's why you should never ever let your opinions become part of your identity. Try it! Not hating things is awesome!

On this site alone, the Big Bang Theory.

Yes it's a boring show which might as well telegraph its jokes with a set of traffic lights, but it's not like people need to get so worked up on it.

The ending of ME3. Even without the EC (which makes the ending okay IMO) it still wasn't as bad as a lot of people say. Yes it came out of nowhere but the reasoning the AI gives does make some sense. Instead of letting organic life get wiped out by their own creations, the Reapers wipe them out themselves and then preserve each species in a way that they would never be completely gone. They considered it their duty to make sure other organically have a chance to survive by destroying the more advanced organics before they create an AI army that kills everything and simply rules for eternity. It's a stupid ending, but it does make some sense.

OT: Halo. It doesn't get much hate anymore around here but a few buddies of mine irl have some kind of personal vendetta against it. Its almost as if Halo raped their puppies and then ate their little siblings or something.

I think the Halo series is rather inoffensive and a good way to kill an afternoon with a buddy or two.

You won't really see me calling it a good movie. I still love every minute of it.

OT again: I'll also add a more specific example in Sonic the Hedgehog. Dimps and Sonic Team both have their problems, and they'd really do well to go back to leaving out as much "writing" as they can, but more of the games are good or at least "decent" than bad, and yet Sonic '06, the spin-off Shadow the Hedgehog, and little narrative things like the companions and Werehog have made his reputation pretty much equal to the Star Wars prequels or Mass Effect 3.

As for the console/pc issue. Yes. I do see people like that. The entirety of the console wars is about that, people have gone out of their way to go "PLAYSTATION IS BETTER ANYONE WHO DISAGREES IS A FUCKING IDIOT" Replace Playstation with XBOX or Nintendo name of choice and there ya go. So I really have a hard time believing it is JUST PC users.

As for the men's rights. We more than often cannot get custody of our children, Men are still circumcised without consent from the child, sometimes without even consent from both parents. Men who are abused, raped or victimized are ignored or told to suck it up. Any attempt at making a shelter for battered men is labeled as being sexist, or misogynistic. Men who are raped, are called lucky, fortunate, among other things and have no way to get justice for being raped, because the definition of rape means unless a woman sticks something up the man's anus or down his throat, he hasn't been raped.

Other men would like to see alimony be changed, since it is an outdated concept. Especially in this age where women can work. In an age where it is easier to get married to someone and then divorce them and collect money for the rest of your life.

And well on the points you made, I have heard much about the wage gap, but I cannot be 100% sure there is a true wage gap, or an artificial wage gap, which is made due to what professions men and women go into. Sadly each time I go into researching it, when I look at arguments against there being a wage gap, the evidence pulls in the opposite direction from each other. So I will concede there very well could be, but as someone previously said, fixing the problems that men suffer from does not mean, and to many people will never mean stopping the progress of Woman's rights. They need to develop side by side.

And finally, someone could bring up that Feminism is "For men too". I'm sorry, I have yet to see Feminism do anything for men, and I long ago grew out of believing people who tell me "We'll get to you later".

The term 'hipster' existing in a nonn-ironic way is maddening to me. If I say 'you've probably never heard of it', it's because I know you and I know where our tastes diverge and therefore it's likely that you might not have heard of it and that's why I'm telling you about it.

Also, liking niche music or bands that will never get played on the radio makes me a hipster, does it? Guess that's what I am, then.

Consoles/console gamers. How do you know if someone's a PC gamer? Don't worry, they'll tell you. These PC elitists have even taken to seriously calling themselves "The PC master race." You know, that tongue-in-cheek remark from the Yahtzee video? OF COURSE YOU KNOW! Well, it's no longer a joke poking fun at PC elitists. Oh no, it's now a very serious PC elitist term.

I say this as someone who spends most of his gaming time on a PC: I fucking hate PC elitists because they make me look like a fucking raging asshole. Who gives a shit what platform someone does their gaming on? Why do you care about the decisions other people make that in no way affect you?
Hey, to be fair, Pc gamers have a lot of right to be angry. Pirates and console exclusives ruin it for those who can only afford one gaming machine and also need a computer for non gaming activities. And we get blamed on mass for piracy despite being unable to give our money to many developers becuase they decide they dont want our money, becuase fuck the poor and let them play indie games. I mean we dont even get destiny. DESTINY. the game they were raving about at E3, the game that looks like a Pc game through and through. And ill never forgive the console slobs for not giving me red dead redemption. (kidding, mostly...)

Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series.
Yahtzee says he's a smug asshole. Everyone all of sudden thinks he's a smug asshole. Noticed this a couple of other times when what Yahtzee says becomes law.

I replayed the first two games for the third time after I got annoyed with it to actually find the parts where he acts like that. Couldn't find any. Sure, he can be ironic and a bit sarcastic at times(though it's mostly just light hearted jokes), but is that so awful? At least it's a bit of personality as opposed to super-serious-soldier-face and the endless mute progaonists. Maybe I just missed something that everyone else didn't. Been looking through some quote videos briefly to find anything, but I still come up short.

Not being able to play Destiny and RDR is a bummer. Although I did play RDR. But, owning a PC, like owning a van, is sweet, but with some heavy drawbacks. When you own a PC/van, you're automatically assumed to be a pirate/rapist. At least in the eyes of publishers/women. But that's just the price you pay for the sweet pleasure of PC/van ownership. (Also kidding, mostly...)
