Also: a fucking map! Fine, make it craftable, make its ingredients rare, just let me have some way of knowing where in the world I am. All it absolutely must do is show land, water, and the player's current position. Optional: have it show tunnels when underground so that I won't get lost, as well as different colors for different materials.

This, a map would be very handy... And a quick guide to start you off, i spent the first 3 days trying to dig just one block, then i couldnt craft once i had materials, then i got lost... my sad, sad story

Possibility of furniture - simple things like a chair and table
More difficult monsters that live outside of Hell.

A somewhat mundane request, but how about doors that can be placed horizontally instead of vertically, like trap doors?

Hmmm... oh right. Some sort of undo button, or go back in time button. A couple of days ago I built this huge skull made out of wool with obsidian behind its eyesockets. It looked really good, but I wasnt satisfied yet, I wanted it to look more evil, so I wanted lave to pour out of its eyes. You see where this is going. I completely forgot that wool would burn, and burn it did. The fires burned down the entire skull including all the tress I had planted on the island. So I had to start all over again. and trying to gather 500 pieces of wool takes some time
