More furniture, you build this big magnificent house with not much to put in it.

A shepherd's crook that allows you to get sheep to follow you when equipped, so that you can bring them into a sheep pen. Also, the return of the ability of sheep to regrow wool once they eat grass. Basically I want a wool farm.

The ability to play in a finite world, and the ability to download/share each others' worlds, in addition to being able to enter another's world with them.

Also, not exactly a thing I want *in* minecraft, but: I want Notch to release a MinecraftPaint application, where you can make 3D objects using any block you want as the brush. And then I want a way to view those items as if one were in minecraft. However, we shouldn't be able to import them into minecraft without hacking...we should be able to draw the plans, but still need to collect the materials and build them to actually have them in-world.

I would like Minecraft to go back to its alpha form. Call me old fashioned, but it was a lot more fun.

Let's just start with sticky pistons that don't require the rarest material in the fucking game to manufacture.

Gates would be nice too.

Being able to plant hedges. I don't mean the little blocks of leafs, which last time I checked still had to be attached to wood. No, real hedges.
But good sir! You *can* make hedges, simply harvest leaves with shears, and they become placeable blocks!
True, but those will disappear unless you place them on wood. I'm not quite sure what Notch was thinking, but it's quite stupid :(
Nope. Player-placed leaves don't decay (according to the release notes).
They do, unless placed on wood (ie those tree trunks). Sadly, the release notes have lied to you.
NOOOOOTCH! THOSE HEDGES I WAS ABOUT TO PLANT!

Oh well, at least I can line my property with wood.

Demons & imps in the Nether, monkeys, bananas, other default character models besides Steve,
wood/stone/gold statues, lanterns, tents, bears, bombs, diving helmets, and color-coded elemental Creepers.

White Creepers would send snowballs flying everywhere, red ones would launch fireballs when they explode, blue ones would be found underwater, grey ones explode upon contact with sunlight due to living in caves, brown ones pop out from thick desert sand, pink ones only attack once provoked, yellow ones drop gold ore and are very rare, and black ones are violent at night.

Oh Dear God, I just found out that Notch is adding Slender Man (called "<link=http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Enderman>Enderman") into the game.. this will make Minecraft terrifying o_o

i also would really like an ability to industrialize, go from stick tools to powered drills, and the abilty to have servants and citizens, a more strategy setting. a mod will probably hit somewhere close to that eventually.

An oar or boat engine.
A steam engine river boat!

I'd love to see more uses for coal/charcoal; maybe someone could make some sort of steampunk mod.

Now, thinking of that river steam boat, I'm off to build New Orleans! (but I'll make sure to make some damn good levees...)

That is planned to be changed, so player placed leaf blocks do not decay.

A much higher ceiling. I want to build massively tall structures, and have giant, towering cliffs. The block height limit (I think it's 128 blocks but I may be wrong) is way too restrictive for some of the things I want to do.
Notch is increasing the height limit, i believe. There was a picture of it on the minecraft forums.

OT: More monsters and blocks, but they are coming in 1.8.

more metals, like copper and tin. and to work with metals you have to have a special crafting table, a smelting table if you will. simply crafting an oven and a crafting table together would. you'd need it to make anything out of metal, just iron and gold at the moment, and could use it to combine metals, like copper and tin make bronze. since iron's already pretty common, other metals would have to be really common and hopefully near the surface. if noting else they'd help get started early on.

also more plants (specifically ones with agricultural purposes, although more wild ones would be welcomed. tall grass was a start), and more things to with sugarcane. cake and maps are the only thing with actually practical purposes you can make at the moment. and even cake is kind of dubious, considering you can't take it with you, but i suppose that makes up for it's relative cheapness. domesticating animals would be cool as well, although i'm not really sure how that would work.

and more uses for redstone circuitry, discounting if your some sort of genius and can create automotive farms.

More bug-fixes. How this game has the courage to call itself beta, I do not know.

Books which you could write in would be pretty cool. Definitely some form of plane, although flight is allegedly coming in an upcoming update. And some form of portal that teleports you from one place on the surface to another, without any faffing about in the nether.

I'd like more diversity of foodstuffs, specifically I'd like to be able to make fish and chips, it would just require some form of potato and canola or something (maybe olives)
