Things you want to see the Kinect used for (on PC)

Pretty self explanatory, post your ideas of awesome uses for the Kinect used for on the PC.

I for one would like to see the ability to scan objects into Gary's mod, and the ability to map commands in WoW to simple hand gestures without having them use the precious space on your action bar.

I want to see more user interface manipulation. It's been the most practical application of the technology I've seen yet.

Imagine how cool it would be to use common technological devices such as televisions in such a manner.

I think Microsoft has hit on something big here, I just hope to GOD they realize it instead of pumping out hundreds of Wii Sports clones.

You perfectly echo the thoughts I have every single time I see a new Kinect hack. Is it really only good for the possible handful of interesting games we might eventually get?

thought about this earlier, i reckon it could be used to scan your face/body into the game, and then you could play as yourself.

There could be quite a few media applications for this, It could be used for art or photos or 3d modelling, as such a thing exists(but I cant remember the name). I think that Microsoft should make it immediately open source, or people and companies just wont buy it if the have to make deals with another company. Opening it up will also save people who have great ideas for it not have to go through the troublesome step of hacking it. Also pair it with 3D and AMD's Eyefinity, that would be pretty sweet for gaming.

You perfectly echo the thoughts I have every single time I see a new Kinect hack. Is it really only good for the possible handful of interesting games we might eventually get?

My impression from what I've seen is that the potential for this doesn't lie in making games that use it as a controller at ALL.

I think the potential lies on supplemental interfaces for existing games, that is, ADDING new methods of control to an existing FULLY FUNCTIONAL interface.

In other words, I think you should be able to use Kinect to control parts of a game when it's more convenient than a controller/keyboard BUT you shouldn't HAVE to use it for anything.

Honestly, Kinect is just Microsoft making money while gamers beta test their new technology for them. Pretty brilliant.
