Being able to walk around freely as opposed to the tile system they've used in every game.

A happiness checker you can take with you, so I can find out when my Eevees and etceteras are ready to evolve.

More people other than you and people you team up with, who try to save the world (for lack of a better phrase).

Being able to walk around with people for more than one area of the game (example: Iron Island and Eterna Forest in DPP).

Relationships with other people, the need to sleep, two parents living in the same town, customizable player models... I think that'll do for now.

A bit more customizing would be nice, both for your avatar and your li'l buddies. For example; in the anime there is apparently a Meowth who dresses like the Puss in Boots.

Something like this. Pokemon are, for the ost part still animals. Giving an Arcanine or a Houndoom a collar, or sily hats for smaller ones like Pikachu and Charmander. It may sound stupid, but it gives them a bit more personality, in my opinion. Also: why can't I choose which Pokeballs to use when an Egg hatches, why they always have to be the regular old red-and-white balls. I want that Gengar in a Dark Ball, dammit.

I wish the 3D Pokemon games had better graphics and animations, because seriously, Pokemon Battle Revolution was horrible.

Good sound, every pokemon still sounds like they did on the gameboy color

The last new gen games had a Happiness checker as one of your PokeTech(sp?) Apps, although I can't remember how specific it was.

Add the Voices from the anime please!

The technology we have is wasted when every pokemon sounds like a bunch of bleeps and beeps

Frankly, I think it's ridiculous having your "lead" pokemon automatically be the first one out in battle. They are all in pokeballs on your belt or pocket or whatever. What makes it so you HAVE to throw out your cyndaquil first? Sure, maybe it'd be easier to type screw someone since they throw theirs out first, but they attacked you, right? Or it could just be at the same time. Awesome. And I know there's the whole "game play balance" to worry about, but really, what's to stop you from throwing out more than one pokemon at a time? I know the later pokemon games have the thing where the opponent throws out two so you throw out two, but what is to stop you from throwing out three? And why can you only carry six pokemon with you? You know what'd also be cool? A portable pc so you don't have to go all the way back to town to pick up that useless flying type pokemon with Fly so you can drag your ass all the way back halfway across the map. Sure, maybe the portable pc costs money to use, or you can only use it so many times a day, and certainly can't use it in battle.
*Edit* Oh and maybe...get this...Multi-Type Attacks! Awesome!
Also, if anything I said actually exists in pokemon, realize that I stopped playing after Crystal.

How about some variety and innovative changes?

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks the formula of the games is getting a little stale by now?

I'd only like that they take out area Pokemon watering down
Eg. Routes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 . . . etc. have 50% chance to find Pidgey, 45% Ratata, 5% *insert only one here*, caves have 50% chances to find Zubat and Geodude, and rest of the 130 Pokemon are only obtainable by doing some rituals (trade with x item, use x(eg. PokeRadar, Sinnoh/Hoenn Sound...) 75 645 times in a patch of grass to find...) or have 1%-2% chance to find them, or trade from another game.

My biggest problem with changing the formula is that the one they have works! It's still fun at it's core; I believe they need to alter some aspects of it though.

I liked what someone said about altering the game to include ALL of the regions, HOWEVER, my biggest problem with that is keeping it fresh throughout the game. With the level 100 cap, keeping the motivation to get through all of the different regions would be difficult, just look at Silver/Gold. I felt the RBY add-on as nothing more than another obstacle with no clear reason for it being there. There needs to be more of a story arc for the extra regions. And the problem with that is that the level cap can then pose a problem.

It's the same formula, sure. Go out, catch pokémon, battle pokémon, save, come back later. They've made little additions and big additions over time. Competitive battling is a lot more complex than it used to be for one. But as for why people still play: Well, the same reason anyone plays games. They enjoy it.

Why do people still play FPS games when the formula is largely unchanged from Doom? Walk, aim, shoot. 'Cos it's fun. Same with pokémon. It appeals to both the slightly older crowd who still have a bit of nostalgia and inner child who loves enslaving animals and putting them into glorified cockfights and the younger, new crowd who like the idea of being The Best Pokémon Master Ever.

Get rid of those flimsy little shit-trees that waste my life by triggering the Cut animation. For that matter, why the hell can't I jump? Where's my damn flashlight? What's to stop me from personally kicking the shit out of that wild pidgey/rattata? I think we can safely assume that my Charizard can fly, and that I can ride it, so enough with the bullshit HMs. I'm not asking for too much realism, just enough so I can reassure myself that I am indeed older than I was when I originally played Yellow.

You know how modern games are doing the "pre order from here and get only from here special content" and another shop is doing the exact same thing? So to get everything you have to buy the game twice, lets cut that shit out of pokemon games.

I know it's take us interact with other people but the only people I know only play MW2, I don't even know another person with a DS or PSP.

So unless I get the same game twice I can't get all these pokemon, if it pulls the same shit as red and blue (which is the only ones I have played) then I also can't evolve my pokemon all the way.

Cross-breeding to create new Pokemon; more options in evolutions (like, more than one evolution for Charmander, that could emphasize one ability or another); realtime battles, NO MORE STUPID HMS! If the pokemon is a water type, it should be able to surf, defog, traverse whirlpool and waterfalls by itself (if it is a powerful one, all of them should be able to surf and defog, more powerful ones are needed to do more complex HMs).

All pokemons, all regions, and all promotional pokemons. One game.

That'll be the next pokemon game I'll play.

You know? One where i can actually catch them all.

Cut back on the HMs and perhaps a different story for once. I mean... some evil organization takes over like Team Rocket and you join some sort of resistance that lets you choose your starter when you join up... something other than "Go beat Gyms. Become Pokemon master. Fill out Pokedex (if you're that commited)"
