I dont think my folks are trying to brain-wash me to do whatever the hell they want, but they do make subtle hints about it (like saying how I would make a good doctor and stuff like that), so basicly not that much...
and my advise to your problem is to talk openly about it with your mother.
if she is the listening type she will most likely understand when you explain to her that you are not interested in that kind of a relationship (I have no idea if its even legal in your country, so if its not then even easier for you).
if she is not the big listener, you should move out, since living where people dont respect your opinion, especially when regarding your own personal life, is never a good possibility. if moving out isnt an option, try yelling your thought out... not the best choice (or a good one at that), but it will surely at some point get through...

My parents have been trying to set me up with one of my best friends... sure shes amazing and everything about her is perfect, but she's my best friend, i don't think i could really damage my friendship circle.
As for the original problem; you should tell your mum that legally, you are old enough to make your own decisions in life and that the age gap is significant. It is entirely your own choice on what you choose and you should not let others influence your actions or behaviour. You control your life and it is you who makes the decisions. not others.
