So we all have things that make us who we are.
detailed and intricate parts of our own personal being that create the deeper sides of the general person that people see

so Im here to ask what parts of you or things you specifically do or have an interest in that you can or would proudly tell others
your into or like no matter what others think or say about what it is.

I my self (to start very lightly) am a foot fetishist, always have been, never been sure why, but if a conversation rolls around that
way i will always say i like it, i get weird looks and legs often shuffle under tables which makes me laugh but I have never found anything that
bad with it to what some others say and think about it.
I mean this is something i have not real mentioned to many others as its a little more serious as a thing but i have always been
proud to have a part of my self, I have Renfield syndrome or clinical vampirism, I shouldn't go into the details as it is quite grim
i understand but i love blood is the base tone of it all.

those are just examples of minor and more serious parts of me that i would always be proud to state
it might not be that serious or even that deep for you guys but it can be anything

but i would like to start up a topic of what you guys are proud to say you are

How are those things to be proud of exactly?

You should be proud of something you worked to hard to achieve, not something that comes naturally to you.

That's like saying I'm proud that I have hands, or proud that I'm a smokin' peace of arse.

I dislike the whole proud/pride thing. Mainly because I find things like patriotism and people who go around yelling "I'm Gay/religious/atheist/political opinion/handicapped And Proud" annoying. It screams of insecurity and contradicts the claim they're making.

But that's just a word association I have, for better and worse.
I much prefer people saying "I'm happy my country does this" / "I enjoy my hobby" / "I don't let my disability limit me".

None of this is directed at you, just my general thoughts on the word.

Edit: I just noticed I didn't make a quote for being gay, please don't think I equated it to a hobby or disability.

Soooo tempted to go "Oh, you sparkle too?" *ahem* Did I say that out loud?

But, forgetting about that, yes, I see no value in "pride" in something that happened upon you by chance. I'm not "proud" of winning a jackpot. Now, if I win some money on a trivia show, that's something I am "proud" of. It's about what you achieve, for example, I'm also proud to have quit smoking.

Totally agree. Look it's fine that you're [insert X], but quit acting like a douche about it, it doesn't make you special or better than the rest of us

That depends.

Were you ugly to begin with?

Because then it's an achievement and something worth being proud of :D

Freaks of the world, UNITE!

There was a video before that said the "wires" (if you will) in the brain to arousal get crossed over when feet are seen so that's what leads to it. Still, nothing horrible about it, course, I'm not entirely unbiased XD

As for what I'm Proud of.

Rather "After School Special" style but I'm proud to be me. I'm glad I'm a Freak, Nerd, Dork, Joker, Gamer, Heavy Metal Fan, what-not.

If you don't like it, fuck you so much the better. I enjoy being who I am.

I only find it necessary to say "I'm ____ and proud" for when you're faced with opposition/criticism/judgment by others who feel the need to take something about yourself and turn it against you, as if it makes you any less than them.

I feel people who say "I'm gay and proud" are justified, considering the amount of prejudice they face. "I'm black and proud" "I'm a woman and proud" "I'm atheist and proud" are all fine to me as well.

What doesn't need to happen is the flaunting of it, the need to make a big issue out of it and pretty much shove it into people's faces when it isn't necessary. The gay pride parade is something that I consider as being necessary, given the fact that you have religious people always standing on the side with signs going "god hates fags," where as a gay person CONSTANTLY making it known that he's gay and makes sure everyone knows that (the over confident gay guy from in living color comes to mind) is unnecessary.

I'm a brony and am proud to be one, there are people who would insult me and call me out just for being one, however I don't make it a point to shove it in everyone's faces and make it or my issues known.

Pride is important in terms of self respect and moral, however we do not need narcissism.

Well, when I was younger ... and this is hard for me to admit ... I had a, *sob*, sorry excuse me a minute it still haunts me ....... I had a mullet.

Aside from that no, i've never been what can be classed as "fugly".

But I did hang around with ugly people to let them bask in my magnificence if that counts.

I'm proud to be an unconventional and intelligent thinker.

Maybe I'm not always right (don't tell anyone though, that's my thing. Well, one of them) but I'd rather be wrong a lot and right about a couple of things that nobody else thought of, then being right about everything that people already know is right.

Apparently, I'm funny too. I feel a little proud about that, but I guess I don't believe it enough.

A Solid Snake mullet or an 'oh god, my eyes are bleeding' mullet?

This is important information.

But yeah, like I said, pride is something you should feel when you've worked to achieve it, being proud of who you are is a cop out.

You can be glad of who you are. Proud is the wrong word.

It had no "cool" factor to it, the mullet I had was a disgrace to hair.

It was the mid 80's, a few years before the other abuse to style was introduced to my head by my Gran (the pudding bowl cut).

Whereas some people have been able to pull off the mullet ... my head was not designed for them.

To put it bluntly, I looked like a twat.

If it had been today my parents would have been up on child abuse charges.

I'm not sure about the word "glad," saying you're "glad" sounds like it's better to be what you are and not something else.

like saying "I'm *glad* to be white," how does that sound to you? usually when you say you're "glad" about something, it's something you prefer.

look at it from another view, "I'm *glad* to not have cancer" sounds appropriate, where as "I'm *proud* to not have cancer" sounds a little odd.

just saying.
