Things You've Noticed About The Escapist Forums

Y'know, I've noticed things have gone down for the forums. Like Themis hiring the most active of people to be moderators, without looking at their capabilities. And I've also noticed that when posting a new thread it seems that people are screaming at one to use the search button, yet when you revive an old thread about the topic, it gets locked because it got revived. It seems contradictory for people to do that. What I've also noticed is that mods have begun to use their powers for more personal matters than before, which disturbs me greatly.

I agree one-hundred percent. I would also like to add that the whole ZP make a game thing has brought to my attention that the escapist isn't as friendly as I had first thought, I can't tell whether it has always been like this or not. But obviously they care more about business than their community.

Alex_P was hardly the most active of people, and he is very capable.

I also have not seen any necro locks, except for when the necro was off-topic in the first place.

The [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.116826"]Posting Guidelines[/a] have been updated to include the proper etiquette of necro and duplication.
"Search Button" posts should be reported much the same as any other low content post.

I would also like to add that the whole ZP make a game thing has brought to my attention that the escapist isn't as friendly as I had first thought, I can't tell whether it has always been like this or not. But obviously they care more about business than their community.

Call me paranoid but heh. Oh and as for the mod thing? They're not even informing the users of what they're doing wrong when locking. For example I saw one today with locked with a "wut", fair enough it isn't their job to make users read the guidelines but they could at least take it a little more seriously...

Actually, there was a necro lock a while back involving an old WWII flamefest being brought back from beyond a year-long grave.

If a necro thread fufills either of those conditions (flamefest/year-old) it tends to draw a lock pretty quickly.

And I feed trolls with statements about how they are trolls... and they suck!

Things I've noticed, that the escapist, as a whole, hates Halo, with a few exceptions...Vrex, your up.

I've noticed that the majority of people here on the Escapist, always type properly, with good spelling and grammar. Posts are mainly well thought out and entertaining to read because of the wit everyone here seems to have!

I have never seen a Flame War here on the Escapist, either, with most people just replying to troll's threads with things like 'This won't end well...' or 'Stop! Banhammer time!'

The Escapist also seems to eat up all of your time, without you even needing to realise it. I get home and the first thing I do is laod up the Escapist; all out of habbit and my love for an educated, witty and generally entertaining forum!

I have noticed, a long time ago, that The Escapist is quite young, and by The Escapist I mean the user base. It was really a bewildering revelation, although it should not have been.

Another thing I have noticed: There are quite a lot of people in here, and by "quite a lot" I mean "Help! I´m being trampled to death. Aaaarrrggh!"

They WANT you to reply in a negative way (its pretty much the objective of trolls), some good ones will even convince other forum members to stand up for them.

1. A single person cannot validate a point that states a hatred for almost everyone on a forum UNLESS that was the only person... which I am not.

2. You "hate" me because I called you a troll... so you "hate" me because of something YOU said AND because of 1 argument! Thats shallow.
