people are obsessed with grammar.

i've also noticed that...

I have noticed, a long time ago, that The Escapist is quite young, and by The Escapist I mean the user base. It was really a bewildering revelation, although it should not have been.

Another thing I have noticed: There are quite a lot of people in here, and by "quite a lot" I mean "Help! I´m being trampled to death. Aaaarrrggh!"

...
... there's nothing better than when the incredible bullshitting man tells the truth.
Just doing my job, civilian: Digging out the truth and revealing it the most convoluted way imaginable. Well, I´m off to confuse truth with fancy. Up, up and awayyyy!

I notice that the moderation here is a lot more strict than on other websites' forums. Other forums, for instance, may encourage thread bumping. Here you get put on probation for it.

Strangely enough, moderate profanity seems to be allowed here.

Feeding trolls is just as bad as being one, if not worse as you were dumb enough to reply rather than ignore them. What do really think your going to achieve by insulting a troll? They WANT you to reply in a negative way (its pretty much the objective of trolls), some good ones will even convince other forum members to stand up for them.
No, no it really isnt. Nice how you are trying to turn this onto me but the point is you were trolling... thats as far as this should have gone.
But...I...wasn't...trolling
In fact, you've pretty much single-handedly validated my original point.
Okay, 2 things.

1. A single person cannot validate a point that states a hatred for almost everyone on a forum UNLESS that was the only person... which I am not.

2. You "hate" me because I called you a troll... so you "hate" me because of something YOU said AND because of 1 argument! Thats shallow.
Your getting a little bit obsessed with this argument...
If you are going to argue, no matter what subject, then you do it well.

And it isnt me who has tried to continue the argument with that non-point you just made.
If he was a troll, it's certainly worked. You should just stop quoting him and move on.

Its okay, I am pretty sure it is over.

See and nothing bad happened to me, if he is a troll he wasnt a good one.

I wasnt angry at any point and I remained civil, he didnt make me do or say anything outside of my character so I think this went smoothly. :D

I like metal, but I still think there are too many new threads on it.

Depends on the subject matter they discuss IMHO there are way too many what`s your favorite metal genre/song/band threads but some of the ones deicated to hlping someone find new bands and songs are alright ,if only because i basically get to scream SACRED REICH!!!! without being called a nazi, which is nice

see, now i HATE METAL....well, i just avoid it when i can(i do like a few songs but dislike general genre) and not once have i ever felt the need to ***** or moan about the metal threads,, or metal in general and whoever does is simply trolling. the best way to get rid of that is to simply ignore them. or blast metal in their face until they go deaf.

I've noticed that punishments for the "First!!1!!one!!1" comments on Zero Punctuation have gone from bans to probations and suspensions.
It's also a really nice place to be.

At what stage do you become a common name?
when you've posted on every single topic.

Things I've noticed about the Escapist, huh? Might as well list some out.

- Writers are generally liked around here, with lots of emphasis on both good writing, and good writing habits like spelling and grammar. The odd part about this is it's primarily restricted to the Off-Topic and RP sections, rather than Gaming Discussion or Featured Content sections where the most of the writing should be for a gaming site. It just means there's a lot more emphasis on fiction rather than articles or essays. The articles and essays often tend to favor User Reviews, although there are a healthy amount of articles on Gaming Discussion. They are, sadly, a minority.
- While I wouldn't say cyber celebrity-ism is a problem, it is a constant. Faces like MaxTheReaper, NeonBob, and Labyrinth get a lot of face time in Off-Topic due to their consistently high visibility. When you move to Forum Games and RP, you get a lot of larger RP faces like Ultrajoe, Higurashi, The Sorrow, and mshcherbatskaya getting a lot more exposure. If you're a relatively light poster, you generally have to be an older face or have one really popular thread to be visible.
- The Escapist forums are structurally meta, with threads like "Who's your favorite Escapist?" and "Let's talk about the Escapist('s Members)." get the most replies, last the longest, and often draw the largest crowd. When you get down to the business end, with the articles and video series, you generally have a lot non-regulars writing articles, and generally get little interaction from the article or video creator, even when trying to discuss the article.
- Guides about The Escapist community often get the most discussion, although that could be because they're usually stickied. Guides that aren't about The Escapist are often buried quickly, but have many comments about being bookmarked, though relatively low discussion.
- Threads about Twilight, Religion, Halo, Half-Life, and certain "indie" titles like Knytt Stories and Cave Story almost always have a bias flavored one way or the other, and will devolve quickly into flame wars if any single party agrees or disagrees one way or the other.

There are other things, but I'm swiftly become too verbose. Though I'd like to ironically talk about my third point, as this is (at time of writing) an 8-page thread about The Escapist and possibly its members.

I've noticed if you say something that someone disagrees with, they talk to you like they just caught you fucking their wife or something.

One extreme to another.....

Rape is an unmentionable word, unless in the context of "Oh, it's so terrible".

Also, I don't want to hear you list in minute detail what you would like to do to a sex offenders's genitals. Please.

The whole vigilantism and mob rule justitialism thing really bugs me.
Indeed. Interestingly enough I've seen people rant about rape in one thread and then joke about murder in another.

Positive things:

Generally awesome people.

Good grammar.

Negative things:

Anti-Christianity is quite common.

Star Wars fanboyism is irritatingly common. Say something bad about the sequel trilogy or something good about the prequel trilogy and count the minutes until you get flamed. 5 minutes between post and flame is my record.

Some people here seem to think difference in opinion = the other person is a moron.

I didn't read the thread too far, or maybe the pattern just went over my head - what is it?
Most of the posts were along the lines of "kill people".

Negatives (or negative, singular, rather)- the search bar is buggy so even though I search before anytime I make a thread people still complain that it's a repeat

Positives- It is the most polite and intellegent internet community I've ever been a part of
