Since Giving up (Again) World of Warcraft I've come to realise there is a mountin of games I should get to playing.

One of the lot of Games that came to mind was Silent Hill 2 and 3 on PS2.

Now I Figured already I should play 2 before 3 but do you think its worth my time these days. Please remember this, Graphics mean Nothing to me im all about Story and Gameplay!, Hell ive been messing around and enjoying Decap Attack from the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive I got on steam.

I Do enjoy Survival Horror games, Loved Project Zero (Fatal Frame) and Resident Evil games and also the First Silent Hill.

Thanks :D

You like survival horror, and you don't mind old games...go for it.

I can't stand the genre myself, so I'll never try it.

You will probably enjoy them if you play them, judging from the games you like. The graphics and stories have aged pretty well. Game-play is what you would expect from the genre, and both are still creepy as all get out. I say go for it.

If you enjoy survival horror games and don't mind the outdated graphics then you have already done yourself a huge disservice by waiting this long to play this game. Somewhere there exists a team picture of the greatest games of all time. Silent Hill 2 is in that team picture.

Yes, stop reading this post and go and play it. >:V
But actually, u can play SH3 before 2, because SH2 is a totally different story not having anything to do with the other games in the series except for a few little dialogue bits.
...But 2 is the best, so play that one XD.

Get out there and get it :3

Well......they aren't that long to complete, the stories are good, and the music.........is.....awesome.
But, that's just me. I really liked the music in SH: 2&3 :p

So, I'd say they're worth your time. Since you played the first one, I think you pretty much know what to expect.

All I can say is, give it a go.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 rock, but i prefer SH2.

A must play if you enjoy great music, a good story with good plot-twists and an overall great atmosphere.

Go for it! :)

Well I made a start on Silent Hill 2 Got to the Apartments Anddddddddddddddddddd.....

My Controller Broke >.<

WTB New PS2 Controller xD

Well its not like I dont have more but ya theres always something that bugs me and distracts from playing, Got a Logitech Wireless, Comfortable but Sticks dont seem to be sensitive enough and I cant get a good grip on em, Joytech Wireless its my Girlfriends controller I cant stand the feel of it she loves it though, Negcon... well I aint gonna get far with the racing controller xD Official PS1 Digital only xD nuff said and the broken Fake Sony PS2 one xD Up and Down on the D-Pad broke somehow xD

I'll proberly get another one of these fake Sony ones in there awesome xD they have an odd bonus if your not in analog mode the sticks emulate the digital input so ya its like you can use your analog sticks on any game

Does anyone know where I could get in an official one?

Back on subject so far I've been liking the game Pyramid Head made his first appearance but the story hasn't taken full swing yet as im still doing the apartment buildings.

Hope to get another controller that does not bug me soon xD

Yes, yes you should. We'll all forgive that you asked such an obvious question granted you go out, buy a copy, go home, turn off the lights and indulge in what in my opinion is pure and complete awesome in disc form.

You can play 3 before 2 if you want, since 3 is directly related to 1, and 2 is a stand alone story near enough.

It's really good, and IMO one thing that makes it creepier is the "oldness" of the game. because of the graphical limitations ect., I found it scarier last year than I did when I was 10, when SH2 was state of the art (This is the reason I didn't get to the end of Fatal frame, that floor board squeak repeated over and over again in a void of silence *shudder*...)

You also seem to like that genre (as do I), so I'd say, go for it!

Silent Hill 2 is a must play. Story is creepy, gameplay is solid, and scare factor still is decent for a old game.

Doesn't matter, just sit infront of the title screen for about an hour at a time in the dark, you'll soak up enough of the awesome.

Why the Hell not? They're kinda the epitome of Survival Horror.
*thinks of the Jill Sandwich scene*
Well, Survival Horror with a good story.

Also, years ago, the Squee of Squeenix made this survival-horror-ish game called Parasite Eve, which is pretty awesome and generally neglected. If you can get your hands on a copy, have a ball.

Oh, and if you don't care about graphics, I suggest trying NetHack. Not much of a survival horror; because you're not going to be doing much surviving, but its free, and something every gamer worth their salt should at least give a try.

one warning. the gameplay in silent hill 2 is boring as SHIT! if you don't like trying every single door, over half of which are locked, whacking straitjacket monsters with a 2-by-4 repeatedly, figuring out insanely obscure uses for seemingly random shit you pick up, then you better hope you have a high tolerance for this kind of thing or avoid silent hill 2 altogether.

that being said, everything else in silent hill 2 is PHENOMENAL! the story, the characters, the atmosphere, the monster designs, the mindfucks, hell even the relatively bad early PS2 era graphics look properly gloomy and horrid. it's not very scary at all, but very very uncomfortable to play. in a good way.

of course i stopped playing about halfway through because all that is not enough since its a GAME and i have to play this shit, but from what i've played so far, thats what i think.

Actually, you might want to see if you can find a copy of SH1. SH3 follows directly from SH1, so it helps to know the backstory.

And yes, SH 1-3 are some of the best survival horror games ever made.
